Casey was born on January 19th, 1977 to Wesley and Lena Sheppard. After several attempts at miscarriages, his parents were finally able to conceive a child. However, Casey would be their only Rainbow Baby. His childhood was pretty great. His parents really let him do whatever he wanted and could pursue just about anything he set his heart on. They wanted their son to be as happy as he could be. When he was ten years old, they moved from Newark, New Jersey, to Reno, Nevada. Wesley received a job opportunity they couldn't pass up so they headed out there. School had always been pretty easy for Casey. He was an intelligent kid and excelled at academics. Once he graduated, he didn’t really know what he wanted to do so he just putzed around from odd job to odd job. It was when he was working at gas station that got robbed and a police officer came in and saved the day that Casey decided he wanted to be a police officer as well. At the age of twenty-two, he joined the Reno Police Academy and set his sights on his future career. Quickly, Casey graduated from the academy and moved up to the ranks of the force. During that time, he also took some classes on the side to learn about criminal justice since his ultimate goal was to be a detective. When he was twenty-nine, he graduated and by the time he was thirty, he was made detective in the Reno Police Department. Everything was coming up roses for Casey Sheppard. For the next five years, he stayed with Reno and worked several cases over the years. At one point, he heard about a job opportunity outside of Reno, in Tonopah Falls, Casey headed out there, thinking that could be a good stepping stone into a higher position. Perhaps chief one day. Who knows? Casey, however, was quickly mixed up in business that he had no right being in nor did he know was even a problem in Tonopah Falls when he came over. Apparently the city was riddled with drug deals and gang issues and one of Casey's first big stakeouts was to watch a drug deal between the Los Bandoleros, things went sour fast and one of his men shot. From there, it was a war and Casey ended up shooting and killing one of the Los Bandoleros, Estelle. Casey barely had an idea what this meant. He just knew it was bad. The Tonopah Police Department covered the up the kill, immediately esponging Casey's name from the record and they transferred him out within a week. It was too risky to keep him there. So, he was transferred plum across the country to New York City. He was paired with another aged detective, Patrick Murdoch. While what happenend in Tonopah Falls was always on the back of Casey's mind, he worked hard in New York. Patrick and himself solved case after case, quickly rising to be one of the top ranked teams in the system. Things had been on the up and up, it seemed, and for the next several years, it stayed that way. About a year ago, the partners were given a new case about a local cartel drug deal occurring and Casey couldn't help but be weary. However, it was their job and Casey would abide by it. The stakeout took another turn for the worse, however. They were caught by the cartel and the two partners were taken hostage. Casey knew off the rip this was happening because of what happened in Tonopah Falls, which he had never told Pat about, so the man was left in the dark. They questioned and tortured them for hours and this resulted in Patrick being murdered right before Casey's eyes. Once found by the NYPD and after recovering in the hospital for a few weeks, Casey was honorably discharged from the force. The NYPD paid for therapy for him, which he went to twice a week for several months, just trying to put the pieces of his life together. However, realizing that he didn't want to stay in New York City anymore and he wanted to, maybe, make things right with the Los Bandoleros, he moved back to Tonopah Falls, getting himself a job at the local night club, just trying to make it day by day.
