🎭 THE JESTERS PLAY. 🎭

in a castle bright where banners flew,

a jester danced in colors true.

with bells that jingled, laughter spread,

while whispers of dread filled the air instead.

around him gathered the courtly throng,

with eyes on the jester, who danced along.

he twirled and leaped, a vibrant display,

the shadows crept close, stealing the day.

the king, on his throne, held a goblet high,

but from the dark, an arrow would fly.

it struck with a hush, but the jester amused,

unfazed by the fate of the monarch bruised.

with every step, he spun like a dream,

unaware of the fate wrought by a silent scream.

the court held their breath, a moment in time,

yet the jester just laughed, in rhythm and rhyme.

around him the colors began to collide,

as posh silks and jewels adorned the bright tide.

he danced on the pain, a fool’s merry jest,

while outside the walls, the world stood at rest.

so let him spin on, in the joy of the night,

with no thought of sorrow, with no thought of fright.

emotions in the heart of the jester, they sway.

the dying of kings is just part of the play.

catshark funfact of the day:

this little guy is called the swellshark (cephaloscyllium ventriosum). their name comes from a defense mechanism against predators - they can suck in water or air and swell up like a ballon to look larger and be harder to eat!

catshark funfact of the day:

the chain catshark (scyliorhinus retifer) is biofluorescent. this means that they glow and that happens due to proteins or pigments in their skin which absorb short blue light and emit longer green light. it hasn't been fully discovered yet why this happens but it is believed they do it for multiple reasons: mate attraction, to avoid/confuse predators and to lure pray.
