WAKING UP in a body that wasn't your own wasn't something you enjoyed.

through trial and error (and leon's incessant suggestions to just go home together. you disagree with his suggestion and he can never say no to you, after all), you find ashley hiding in the church. and the immediate liking she takes to you is bridging on the cusp of creepy. what's even creepier is your guard-dog's reaction to such. you appreciate the sweetness the two have for you and how it helps keep you afloat in this absolute hellhole, but something still stalks in the back of your head...
you can't trust leon. you have no idea why, but with every ledge he helps you over or with every drop he catches you from, there is that looming shadow that lurks within you. it's a sense of dread that hangs heavy in your stomach, almost like hanging over the hill of a rollercoaster. there's alarms that blare whenever he gets too close, all that seem to be warning you to get as far away from this man as you can. and for why, you cannot tell. he is kind-hearted, brave, and has saved you from practically every abomination known on planet earth. so, why don't you trust him?
maybe it's the look in his eye. how his gaze for you is practically seeping with sunshine, but whenever he looks at the squeaky mouse on your hip, there's an uncanny shift towards something much darker. (ashley breathes within a mile radius of you and leon literally becomes the gif ^^). his perceptible distaste towards her goes further than his expressive eyes, unfortunately. it's "accidentally" dropping her when she jumps from the ledge, stifling a laugh at her pain only to immediately go red with rage when you help her from the ground. "falling over" and nearly knocking ashley head-first off a ledge; tending to a splinter you got while she tries to avoid being kidnapped by literally 73 los ganados.
ashley's dislike towards the man her father sent to retrieve her is perceptible, too. and her liking to you is even more evident. she'll cower in your embrace when leon shoots his gun a little too close to her ear, smirking at him over your shoulder when she sees how enraged it makes him. she'll interlock your fingers with hers due to being āafraid,ā outright refusing to let go from thereon out; she'll ramble about her awesome life as the president's daughter, how astonishing she finds you to be, and how many riches she has (and how she can provide for you *cough, cough*). it's all so bewildering ā you have all somehow managed to survive countless near-death experiences and yet, both of them are nothing but daisies and rainbows at your side.
most importantly, it is so fucking overwhelming. you wonder if their suffocating clinginess is the worst thing you'll actually face in this hellhole.
you're so caught up in avoiding the affections of these two and surviving in the process, you almost completely forget about your memory loss. you have history with this man, whomever he may be. and during trips to the merchant and the shooting range, you think he'll enlighten you on these forgotten pieces while you take a second to breathe. but, he never does. he either glares daggers into the girl at your hip or thoroughly checks your body for wounds you fruitlessly assure him don't exist. so, you guess you only have yourself and your goldfish-like memory to rely on.
all you can remember is his sweet soul, baby-face, and, rather, unconventional displays of affection. and you assume that this is how far the iceberg goes. just you and this lovesick boy in raccoon city. together. but oh, how wrong you were.
the three of you later find yourselves in the amber storeroom. you trace your fingers upon the crevices of the large hunk of amber in front of you, watching in disgust as the parasites within squirm like dying cockroaches. the topic of escaping this nightmare soon arose. you want to make it to luis' laboratory for the purpose of curing ashley of her infection, despite having to separate for a short period of time to retrieve the proper materials. leon just wants to get himself and you out of here, to where you'll live happily ever after in each other's arms.
"it's not too to turn back, you know. if we make it to the lab, we can save ashley, leon. we'll only have to seperate for a second, it's no biggie!" your suggestion falls on deaf ears, much to your dismay.
"not a chance. you're stuck with me to the end." you feel your heart drop at leon's response. the saying unlocks something within you, something you knew you never wanted to come out. it hits you like a train; dread permeates your entire being. you're stuck with me to the end.
an unfamiliar voice then fills the room. before you even have a picosecond to process the additional presence and leon's previous statement, you feel his hand on your arm, to where you're then swung behind him. you see the saddler from your stance over leon's shoulder, giving his whole villain monologue. you managed to derive only one piece on information from the cloaked creature before you: we are all fucked.
black veins travel up the neck of the blonde in front of you, to where he then falls to his knees, gun clattering onto the floor. ink-black strings spread upon ashley's face, the white of her eyes morphing into a sinister red, the color stiffly framing the green hue of her irises. sobs rack through her body, you hear a whimper of your name escape her mouth. an unseen force causes her to bend down and grasp hold of the gun. the atmosphere is already overwhelmingly intense and as if she were a doll, the force pushes each foot in front of the other. closer to you.
you take a cautious step away from her, only to feel your back hit a surface. you turn to meet the chest of someone adorned head-to-toe in white cloth, ragged ropes tied around their waist and neck. their purple, ghastly hand the clutches onto your wrist like a lifeline, the pain causing you to hiss in response. you try and pull away with all of your might, but their inhuman abilities overpower your own. before your bones can crack beneath the sheer force of their strength, a gunshot permeates. your ears ring, thus using your eyes to identify the sudden intrusion of sound. the figure before you is now adorned in blood as it cascades down their once-white cloak. ashley persevered and fought through the infection seeping through her veins to save your life, but youāre too busy staring at the scene before you to realize.
"no... please! please, don't make me!" the force of the saddler returns, however. and the devastated voice of ashley only comes out in a quiet hum, with your hearing still disoriented from the gunshot.
this leaves you here, where you never thought you'd be. while you're gaze is locked on the body ashley brutalized, you're taken by surprise when you feel your body whipped around completely. her arm snakes around your neck as if you were prey, the other pressing the cold surface of the gun's barrel to your temple. you thrash and fight, but your efforts are merely pathetic in comparison to her newly supernatural power.
"we don't need another foolish lamb in our way. sweet child, do not resist!" his voice feels like a chill traveling up your spine. faint and ghostly, but all-too terrifying in the same breath.
you can feel ashley cry in your ear, begging the monster in front of you to let you both go. closing your eyes, you pray to whatever almighty being truly exists that you'll soon wake up back in your bed. then, you'll enjoy your breakfast and pantomime to your cat about the insane dream you just had. but, ashley's hyperventilated breaths still fan against your face and her grasp on you is still air-tight. as much as you wish it wasn't, this is your reality. and, inevitably, you will most likely die in the embrace of the girl you fought tooth-and-nail to save.
leon still clenches his body in agony; his gaze remaining locked to the ground beneath him. his attempts to fight against the pain with every sliver of strength in his body were futile. but, in a flare of clarity, leon is fortunately able to overcome the immense pain momentarily. his blue eyes, wide as dinner plates, frantically search around for you. and the scene he finds behind him causes his heart to sink into oblivion.
"no!" the sheer anguish in his cry is enough to grasp the attention of every presence in the room. 6 years. 6 years. he has been waiting over 2,190 miserable days to be with you. and as i stated before, like hell will he let you slip from his grasp again.
leon scrambles to his feet, but before he can bring you into his tenacious embrace, kill everything that moves, and vow to never ever let anything like this happen to you ever again, that same force stops him within his stance. his hands halt inches from your face, so, so close, as he desperately reaches out to you. leon fights and resists, despite the agony swimming in his black-colored veins from doing such. he must get to you, no matter how much pain and suffering he must endure.
you are everything he could ever need; you are the very definition of his existence. his sobs rival those of someone overcome with grief and he is terrified of the fact that it may be him momentarily. so close to happiness, but now all alone. once again and forevermore. you can only watch in trepidation as he shakes with pure terror, muffled cries of "take me instead" and "please, anyone but them!" escaping through clenched teeth.
with the faint click of ashley's dainty finger, she pulls on the trigger. there is nothing.
silence hits the room like a tsunami. you're alive, but you don't dare let yourself hope. waiting for the other shoe to drop, it never falls. ashley's grip on you relaxes, to where you rip her arms off of you and practically throw yourself across the room. anywhere far from the insanity caused by this horrid infection. the two people you survived hell with are still under the trance, however. miserable cries protruding through the quiet; bodies shivering like someone who has been thrown into a winter lake. their eyes peer to their side, desperate to move their heads and look at you and ensure your safety.
you're still attempting to process what had just occured when you suddenly hear rumbling echoing in the distance. something soars through the sky, landing right at the feet of the saddler and his minions. chaos pervades as an explosion waves through the room, causing every piece of matter to ascend into the air, including yourself. youāre flung into the wind, where you then land harshly against the unforgiving ground. you cough into your arm in an attempt to rid your body of the smoke satiating your lungs.
"sorry, bad traffic! one combat chopper, compliments of hunnigan!" you hear the eccentric voice, the mention of hunnigan, the whirring of a helicopter and finally smile to yourself for the first time in what feels like years. help! itās finally here!
a substance trickles down your forehead and down the expanse of your face. you bring your fingers to your skin, only to find the digits to be adorned with warm blood. following the trace, you soon realize during the pandemonium of the eruption, something had hit you square in the skull. fuck.

āøŗ ooooooo !!! i've been meaning to make a part 2 of my last ask, but had zero idea where to go from where i ended. i also had played a bit of RE2 before the remake came out recently, so a piece of my brain has been kept up in raccoon city for a little while. i would love to express my thoughts and mesh these two games together !!
let's start with where we left off in los iluminados.
upon having your handcuffs taken off by the stranger who is far too close for comfort, you pace backwards, far away as you can get from this insanity of a man. his attitude abruptly shifts into something softer, a major contrast to the emotional breakdown he had just seconds prior. he realizes you're afraid ā afraid of him. and as much as the mere thought destroys him to the point of breaking down again, he shoves a sob back down his throat and keeps his distance, despite how desperately he wishes to close it.
6 years. 6 years. he has been waiting over 2,190 miserable days for this single moment. all the sleepless nights spent searching the world for you; all the hopeless nights spent clinging to pillows, praying by some miracle it will somehow become you. every second of these past 6 years has been spent dreaming of this single moment. and even though your reunion wasn't the teary-eyed, passionate kiss in the rain he had hoped for, you are still here with him nonetheless.
and like hell will he let you slip from his grasp again.
with as much time as his needy self would grant him being physically away from you, he is soon at your side. leon then wraps you in his jacket and you swear you hear a harsh gasp escape from him when his finger accidentally makes contact with the skin of your neck. despite your negligence and more-than-obvious discomfort, you do appreciate the new warm embrace after a week of cold rain and damp clothes. it smells exactly like him, as well.
and with that, he's got a gentle hand hovering over your lower back as he guides you through the depths of this hellhole. and piece by piece, memories that had been buried in your brain begin to disinter themselves.
for example, you got a staring problem bro?? for the entirety of the time you spend with leon in los iluminados, there is literally never a single moment where this mans eyes are not on you. half of the time it is to ensure you are unharmed, but the other half consists of him staring in complete and utter awe. it's kind of hard to focus on surviving when leon is constantly staring into your soul. but it has just been so fucking long since he has been able to see you in all of your glory, so please excuse him for any inappropriate behavior on his end.
also, you knew you have lived in raccoon city for a short period of time before the events of RE2 happened, but like everything else that relates to that damned place, you couldn't remember a thing.
except now. leon's gaze uncovers a memory you have of yourself being held in one of the RPD holding cells. the atrocious scent, the uncomfortable bench, the paint peeling from the walls. you try and scrutinize what on earth you could have been arrested for, but your attempts are merely futile. but unbeknownst to you, your arrest was nothing but bullshit. and to say leon has had a crush on you from the second you moved into RC would be nothing short of the truth. so, by pulling some strings, the rookie had managed to lock you up for what he calls 'bonding time'. he'll place a chair backwards in front of your cell, prop his arms on the backrest and admire you with your full attention finally on him (instead of just stalking you around town).
two things you now remember about this man: he was so adorably baby-faced back then and my god, was he awkward. he still cannot talk for shit and i mean this with my whole heart. his sweet, innocent eyes gaze at you while he tries to play it cool, pulling cards like "yeah, i workout" and "you come here often?". all as if he hadn't personally arrested you for possession of illegal substances he planted himself. (nothing will happen to you, obvi. he just desperately needed a second alone with you to show off how charismatic he can be. or try to be, at least).
and for the short second of seeing him after 6 years, his eyes were just devoid of any life. you had assumed the trauma inflicted from that night had caused such a contrast in his physical appearance, and you would be right to assume that. but the soulless eyes, monotone voice, and lackluster personality was entirely due to your disappearance. days upon days of the lonely, eternal torment destroyed his sanity. however, that illustrious boy you can barely remember seems to have returned with your presence.
another thing you can't believe you had forgotten was how intense his stare is. the way he stares is illegible and sometimes overwhelming. he shivers in his stance, whimpers at your every move, and his mind runs rampant with all sorts of obsessive declarations of love. although it may seem creepy to others and especially yourself, do not fret. he has no ill intent towards you, god he could never! this puppy-dog of a man is simply marveling at your sheer existence.
you are able to retrieve another lost memory when you have to jump from a window and into his arms (for those who say he won't be able to catch you, stfu. have ya'll seen how beefy his arms are??? anyways....). the secret agent you have grown to trust during your stay in los iluminados jumps down marvelously (most def showing off his james-bond-esque agilities to you). he now watches from below as you stare at the distance beneath you in trepidation. this distrust you have ā he is going to travel to the ends of the universe to fix it. no matter what.
you begin to ponder, he has savagely brutalized all threats in your path and held your hand as if he were holding the world all in the same breath. you should trust him, especially after witnessing the pure display of loyalty he has for you.
"don't be afraid, y/n. i'll catch you, i promise!" there is 10000% a way to walk through the house and down the stairs to get to him, but ofc he's not gonna tell you. why would he willingly throw away the opportunity to be your knight in shining armor?
"you will?" your voice is full of apprehension. his stare on you feels like the same bullets he's forced upon your attackers.
"always."
with that, you rip the bandaid off and jump from the ledge. and leon was most certainly not lying. you land safely in his embrace and he wraps his arms tightly around your form. and to finally have you so close, after so, so long of devastatingly praying he could feel you once more.......... if he had a tail, it would for sure be wagging so fast it would morph into a blur. and the way he holds you is different, as if his gentle nature is reserved for you and you only (which it is. this is literally him in a nutshell).
and when you had instinctively buried your face into his neck upon landing, clinging to him out of fear of hitting the ground, he literally melts. i'm serious, he literally just š« š« š« š« . the faint hum of laughter and adoration that escapes his throat breaks you out of your state of shock. you made it safely to the ground without breaking every bone in your body, hooray! (as if there is a single reality in existence where leon would ever allow that to happen, but i digress).
you meet his gaze and there is that all-too familiar stare he gives you. leon's arms holding onto you like a lifeline uncovers a memory you have of yourself being held like this all those years ago. you can't recall exactly where in raccoon city you were, but you can remember how humiliated you were when you tripped over a crack in the pavement and ate shit. there was the fairest of scrapes against your shin, but the mortification hurt far more than any wound. while you dust yourself off and attempt to ignore the burning stares of pedestrians, a shout of your name sparks your attention.
the RPD gear and besotted eyes you're met with could be no other than that baby-faced rookie. you ponder of what he was doing on this side of town. was it a simple coincidence you had run into each other? or perhaps, had he followed you? just when you think you can't feel more embarrassed, leon gets down on one knee and dramatically inspects your wound. and my god, he acts like you were shot or something. he visibly shudders from the sight of your leg; people begin to gather around the commotion. with pure ease, he then scoops you into his arms to bring you to safety. you can feel his heart pound like a machine gun beneath the palm of your hand.
despite the humiliation deprived from this event, you fortunately are free from anything mortifying in los iluminados. however, leon doesn't seem to understand when to take a hint.
"uh... you can put me down now." you come out of your memory to thrash in his grasp and avoid his intense gaze, but your prince charming seems to still be caught in his y/n-filled daze.
after a few long seconds, your comment seems to finally reach his brain. "huh?" his response is faint and you almost don't hear it.
you repeat yourself and begrudgingly, leon then slowly puts you back onto your feet, savoring the last few seconds spent with you in his arms. exactly where you belong. you can only fear how much more suffocating affection you'll have to endure before you can finally remember what happened that night.

You were slumping on the living room couch, mindlessly scrolling through your phone. It was Valentine's Day and to no surprise (to you), you were date-less. It's not like there was anything wrong with you, you just weren't all that social. But for some reason, even the shyest of your friends are getting in a relationship. Your phone dinged, notifying you of a text from one of the group chats you were in.
The LONERS; you all called it yet seemingly, one by one were getting asked out on a date. The new text wasn't any different.

Leon can easily hide his fangs, spikes, tail, etc.. As a surprise attack like one of those snakes or spiders that burry themselves in the ground to catch prey.
Yes, his jaw does unhinge off as his flesh opened up without pain as if they were hidden, two appendages in the mouth ones larger than the other, hanging out on both sides well.. Sideways basically. (Because it would be weird if they were down or up)
He does have his feral moments as if he were a cat. Only letting you be the reason to calm him down, just a single touch from you and he's calm.
In his C-Virus form, Leon doesn't speak as it comes out as roars and growls.. He uses sign language to communicate but able to talk in his normal human form.

Its been a long while as you waited for the results of the referral the doctor gave you, you knew that the waitlists for things like this can be ridiculous but still an anxiety ebbed its way at you. Throughout the weeks though you slowly got used to the new life the universe decided to give you, calling your old boss you asked for your job back and they so graciously granted you it. They always did really liked you and treated you as an actual human being, although they had many questions about you coming back you tried to answer them honestly without telling the whole crazy story.
A strange little dynamic slipped between you and Ethan, throughout the week you would go to work and Ethan stayed at home. Obviously, with his condition, he couldn't go back to being a software engineer, but that didn't mean he wasn't the same intelligent man you knew he was. Things changed, but he still kept himself busy at your house. It started with cleaning and trying to help around the house so you were less stressed, because of this the bandages around his arms came off quickly and were left abandoned. Apparently too annoying and a hassle to commit to, Ethan always assured you he was in no pain and therefore didn't need them. That was another thing, the man started to become more chatty, given not the same as before but he would speak more frequently in the same fragmented way.
Ether way it was progress.
Ethan tried really hard to help around and show his appreciation for you and even tried cooking, that resulted in a disaster that nearly burned down the house.
The days went by and the weekends Ethan would try to convince you to lounge around the house with him or go for a walk in the nearby forest, anything you did Ethan was there to help or hold you. Normally you would find this clinginess sufficating but this was the man you were never able to get over, the crush still there and blooming into full love. You hated that feeling bubbling back up, after all Mia is still out there and if Ethan was in such a state you can't image what she is like.
This resulted in you trying to push yourself away from Ethan's affection every time you remembered her face, the sourness etched into it. The way she would gawk or glare at you, it burned a hole of ire in your heart, reguardless this was Ethan's wife and you needed to respect that.
No matter how much you loved him.
It wasn't often that you remembered her, rather getting caught in these blissful moments where Ethan would hold you or even try to slow dance in the dark evenings. It was so soft, so wonderful how could you not. But Ethan still noticed everytime you would smile so gently, a slight heat dusting your face as he held your hand only to have a sour expression suddently take over and wiggle out of his grasp.
Not only did it confuse him but broke his heart.
Did he do something wrong, do you not love him anymore? Why are you leaving him, where were you going?!
Ethan would run over only to engulf you in a hug burring his face into your neck, little tears forming as his blacken hands gripped the fabric of your clothes. He never wanted you to leave him, not again. Never again.
It hurt you too to see such a desperation take over Ethan, you didn't want to put space between each other but maybe it was for the best. After all the only reason why you were leaving in the first place was because Ethan choose Mia and you respected that dission, you knew you would never get over your feelings for the man and therefore the best thing was to remove yourself entirely.
But how with Ethan holding your head against his chest as tears slowly soaked the top of your head slowly broke down that cold barrier you set. You could just feel the raw emotion of the man as little hiccups interrupted the somber sobs, this was beyond heart breaking to hear.
Every time you would lean up to his ear to murmur little apologies as you allowed him to slowly swing you back and forth, apologies for making him so scared but also for not communicating the black mess of thoughts you had.
Lazy Saturday morning as more rain poured outside, sitting on the couch with Ethan a movie was playing only to be ignored. You were sitting on your side with an elbow on the armrest propping you up, Ethan on your chest snuggling on. As the pictures moved in front of you your mind replayed the events of the previous weeks in your head in a slow almost slumber-like process, the whole events still not feeling real let alone like they already passed.
The loud jarring ring of your phone caused you to jump and had Ethan instinctively grasp onto your hoodie, looking over to the side table with a mix of betrayal and curiosity you started to sit up. Ethan was slightly annoyed that he had to get up and therefore snuggling you, but you reached over to check the call I.D. to see it was the hospital. A moment of confusion swept over you until you realized it might be the lab results, you stood up and started to walk away.
At the last moment you turned to Ethan and spoke over your shoulder, "Keep watching the movie, I have an important call."
Leaving the room to stand on the balcony you answer the call, "Hello?"
"Hi, is that Y/n L/n?" The voice a strong masculine one echoed out.
"Uh, yes- that's me." You answered somewhat unprepared.
"The lab results are back for Ethan Winters and we wanted to talk to you about them."
"Okay, well what are they?" You answer somewhat nervously, finally, you could get some answers.
"We wanted to talk to you in person," The voice starts again, and instinctively you start to look over to your calendar preparing dates.
"Okay, well what hospital was this call from? I can schedule something depending on your availability."
"We will come to you." The voice spoke and that immediately set off red flags, in all your years of being an adult did the hospital come to you.
"I'm sorry?" The confusion is clearly emphasized.
"As I said we will come to you, can you please confirm your address for us?"
"Wait, hold on. Why would you need to come to my house, is something wrong?" The slow-set anxiety started to crawl from your stomach to your throat.
"I assure you there is no need to worry, the nature of Mr. Winters' condition would benefit from our team coming to your house. Can you please confirm your address?" The voice was cool and calculated and something continued to raise that red flag.
"Um, okay, well before can I please get the name of the hospital your with as well as your name. For my records and insurance?" You asked trying to be smart about your next course of actions.
The voice rattled off the name of a hospital not too far from you before telling you their name, Chris Redfield. Unable to find any further reason to remain suspicious you replied with your address, but you still had many questions.
"I'm sorry, I'm still pretty confused about this whole... situation. Why is it important that you and your 'team' come to us, wouldn't it be better to go to the hospital with all the equipment and things you would need?" Continuing to pressure this 'Chris Redfield'.
"Normally yes, but due to Mr. Winters' condition, it would greatly benefit him if we were to visit. In addition to his previous records stating his aversion to doctors this way would reduce stress." Despite all his words having logic to them, you could help but still feel like something was off.
"We will be there soon. Please reframe from telling Mr. Winters about us as it might cause him to panic."
"O-okay, how long will it take for you to get here?-" Caught off guard you hear a click mid-sentence, did they just hang up on you?
"Hello?" You spoke emptily into your phone, the fucker did just hang up on you! What kind of secretary was 'Chris Redfield, his people skills were not the best.
You were taken back and stood there for a moment as heavy rain still poured down the covering over your balcony, air sharp and chilly but fresh. You could smell the earth as it became soaked and turned to mud.
Turning sharply on your heel you enter the house again, walking down the stairs and back to the living room where Ethan looked curiously at you. "Sorry for taking so long."
Ethan sat up with a smile on his face, you couldn't feel bad for what was going to come. Going to be poked and prodded by doctors again, hopefully, it wouldn't be as bad as last time. Maybe them coming here was a better idea, Ethan would probably feel better at home since this is his 'safe space'.

As more time passed the more you got confused and annoyed, the person over the phone said soon yet is been almost 30 minutes when you check the clock on the wall. Soft ticking echoing to the now feeling empty house, Ethan still hanging by your side.

"Well, any ideas about what we should make for lunch?" You lazily turn to Ethan knowing fully well you were the one making the food, he'd help at most lest another arson attempt.
The blond man hums as he thinks before walking over to the assortments of cookbooks you had, that was a smart idea. "Yeah probably better to look than go back and forth failing to come up with anything."
Ethan flips through the pages before you hear the paper stops moving, tapping filling the air instead as he lifts the book towards you. It was a hardy stew, full of meat and veggies, why doesn't it surprise you that Ethan wanted soup?
"Sweetheart, stew requires hours of cooking time." Ethan frowned deeply.
"We do have stew beef that needs to be cooked so we could make that for dinner, how does that sound?" Ethans jumped over towards you where he pulled you off of the couch in excitement, good god this man loves soup.
"Yeah, yeah, I know." You pretend to be annoyed as he pulls you over.
"We could have tomato soup and a salad for lunch, something simple and light." That made Ethan even happier as he threw the cookbook to the side.
"Alright happy feet, why don't you go tap dance upstairs and clean up that mess you left after your project?" In reference to Ethan's need to scout through your art supplies and yarn, maybe he was looking for something else he could do? That's an idea, you could teach him to crochet or something along those lines.
Ethan ran upstairs and it reminded you of a kid the way he was so excited, you chuckled lightly as you leaned over the counter and read what ingredients you would need. A knock at your door alters your attention and takes you away,
Walking over you open the door only to be met with a tall white man with a scruffy beard and short brown hair that started to salt and pepper, he was wearing a dark wool trench coat with similar black pants and combat boots. It was quite intimidating to have him looming over you at the door.
"Uh hello, can I help you?"
"Hello Y/n, my name is Chris Redfield we talked over the phone a while ago." This was Chris??
"Oh, uh," You opened the door a little more and stood against the frame. "Are you sure you're with the hospital?"
His face was stern and serious and didn't really help with the intimidating feeling he was giving you, matter of fact made you feel all the more small and helpless. "Actually I am with the B.S.A.A. and we believe that you are currently in danger."
He flashed you his badge so quick you barely had time to register what the man just said, "D-danger, what are you talking about?" You could feel a cold sweat building.
"We will explain further but first we need you to come with us," Chris says it quickly trying to urge you to follow him.
"Wait, let me get Ethan." You pull your hoodie tighter around you in a nervous subconscious movement, starting to turn only to have Chris stop you.
"No, leave Ethan."
"Why?" You look up at the taller man in a concerned stare that remained unanswered, then loud sounds of a struggle echo distantly in your house.
You snapped towards the noise as fear spiked all thoughts about Ethan's safety, you run towards the noise barely dodging Chris grasping hands. "Y/n, no!" He yells after you.
Sprinting up the stairs you barely miss tripping and toppling down all of them, following the trail of sounds leading you towards your bedroom where you shouldered through the jarred door.
"Ethan!" In a panic you screeched out,
The scene before you didn't do anything to ease your anxiety. Ethan was in the corner of your room as black ooze flowed off of his arms and through his clothes, fearful expression as three figures covered head to toe in black held riffles angled towards Ethan. They yelled orders for him to submit, now seeing you one of the mumbled something into his radio.
Instinctively you run to protect Ethan standing between him and the other armed figures, you felt like you were going to vomit.
Ethan wanted to jump in front of you and protect you but every time he did you kept pushing him back, his hands ending up clinging onto the back of your clothes as he stared daggers over your shoulder.
Chris finally catches up as he follows suit, "Stand down!" He yells towards the figures and they lower their guns slightly.
"Y/n, come over here now!" Chris barks toward you now and Ethan's hands only cling tighter to you.
"What the hell is going on, who the fuck are they?!" Your eyes dart between him and the figures.
"That thing your protecting isn't Ethan Winters." He speaks more calmly still yelling somewhat.
"What?" Your whole body freezes in this icy shutter, barely out of the corner of your eye you can see Ethan look at you almost heartbroken.
"It's a bioweapon."
You look back towards Ethan and see that soft terrified look in his eyes, the same look that you remember he would have before every exam in college. The same look when you dragged him into a haunted house when you were both 17, or when you pushed him off the diving board of the public pool. This time he really did have something to be terrified of, no more make-believe or anxious thoughts being the source.
"Bullshit!" You yelled back, if there was anything pretending to be Ethan you would know in minutes. No one out there knew Ethan better than you, you knew every mannerism, habit, and quark the man had. Chris sighed heavily before speaking again, "Mr. Winters was infected with a mold that makes him into an incredibly dangerous bioweapon. You need to step aside so we can deal with it."
"Fuck that!" You barked back equally quick and that only seemed to annoy Chris even more, you wondered for a brief moment if he would just give the orders to mow the both of you down.
"Its true, now move aside."
There was a painfully silent moment where you thought, every passing second Ethan's hands wrapped themselves further around you in anxiety.
"How."
"How what?" Chris answered annoyed.
"How did he get infected." You questioned echoing heavily as you saw Chris' face get serious in a different way, you couldn't fully tell the emotions behind it.
"A company we're trying to stop creates bioweapons and Mr. Winters' wife worked with them, she end up getting stuck in an incident. She sent a message out to Ethan and he came to help."
Horror flooded you, Ethan got infected because he tried to save his wife. Ethan sacrificed himself.
"Is she alive?" It was like the world was traveling further and further away, as if you were on one side of a tube and it was on the other. Everything turning to autopilot.
"No." Cold, sharp, short.
You couldn't help but turn slightly to Ethan as a tear slipped out which he was unable to not see, the poor man. After everything- the reason why he was-, it was all because of Mia.
You harden your expression as you turn back to Chris, "So, what. You want to kill Ethan because you fucked up?" The same harshness rang out like a bullet in the night, you glared at Chris through streaming tears.
"'Ethan' isn't human or even the same person you knew, he's already dead!" Chris yells back in frustration, he's seen these monsters all his life. He can't let another go unchecked just because it looks like someone you know, this monster would tear you apart the moment they leave!
Another pause of pregnant silence before you chuckled darkly, tears falling like the rain outside. "You might see a monster, Chris," You threw his name like trash.
"But I see a man broken by the things you were supposed to protect him against. Now you want to kill him so you don't have to face the P.R. issues."
"Fuck you." It was like bile coming up, the way your words stank and stung the social air. You wanted nothing to do with this man anymore, you hated him.
Chris stared down at your sobbing form with a distant callousness, you knew this was the moment. The moment where you died, but at the very least you could offer Ethan no one was ever able to give him,
The knowledge that someone actually tried to protect him, care for him in his last moments.
You closed your eyes and just waited, Ethan's arms completely circled around you as he pressed his face flat against your back. You could feel every tear bleed into the fabric, staining your skin with a burning knowledge.
Chris watched the scene before him and it broke him, it almost reminded him of a mother protecting their child from invading forces. Doing their best to protect an innocent life from invading nations, caught in the middle of a battle they never were meant to be in.
He couldn't do it, he just couldn't.
Chris knows he will regret this because it will result in so many lives lost, most likely yours but he did it anyways. Raising his hands Chris signaled for his men to leave, they gave him confused glances before obeying. Sounds of their heavy combat boots echoed as you slowly opened your eyes, confused you watched.
Chris stayed, a hollow gaze burning through you.
"I am giving you one chance, the moment it gets hostile we're putting it down." He speaks.
You were so shocked and stunned all you can do is gawk. Were you appreciative that you were alive, yes. But did you still feel that same hatred and anger towards Chris especially the way he choose to refer to Ethan, also yes.
You didn't need to say anything as Chris turned to leave, Ethan peeking over your shoulders in a timid manner. His arms where still laced over you in an attempt to comfort his ceaseless anxiety and stress in this situation, it was all so confusing and scary.
Tonight was suppose to be a good night, Ethan wanted his soup and cuddles. He wanted to feel your warmth and hands in his hair, Ethan didn't understand why everyone was screaming and yelling. Why strange people broke in and threatened you, Ethan just wanted to protect you,
Instead he failed and you needed to protect him,
Ethan felt like such a failure, you were never meant to experience anything in his 'dark memories'. Ethan was a failure of a husband.
Like a lead blanket thrown onto the man he collapse with you in his arms accidently pulling you down with him, Ethan starts to sob into your back weak and pathetic. In an instant you turn and hold Ethan's face in gentle loving hands, he can help but look up at the warming sun ray face effect you had on him. Despite all the pain he feels Ethan does feel a little comfort in you, black inky mess spreading more across your own skin and clothes as it continues to 'bleed' from Ethan.
You coo and hold his head under your own, embracing the man whispering everything is okay. The two of you were safe now, Ethan didn't need to worry it was all over. Your own tears started to trickle down again and onto his soft dirty blond hair, black blobs spattered in his frantic struggle. Large hand rakes stained the back of your hoodie as Ethan continued to struggle to hold you, his own anxieties causing a restlessness to find a spot against you.
Just rocking the fragile man back and forth you were unaware the breaking guilt Ethan felt, it was like an ocean flooded his mind and was drowning.

Personally I feel like Leon would be very secretive about it in the beginning. Itās not like he wants to hide the truth from you; however, telling you the news about working directly under the president could definitely be a hard thing to process. Especially when Leon fights off against the worst monsters imaginable.
Itās probably easier in the beginning. Your relationship hasnāt gotten too serious yet which means youāre not living with him. You only see him on dates, or during the little free time he has between missions. He never invited you to his home.
However, when things get serious and he finally lets his walls down enough to ask you to move in with him things will change. The overwhelming amount of booze in his home? Hidden. If itās out of sight itās out of mind. His arsenal of weaponry? Hidden, albeit, somewhere he could easily access if needed.
He wasnāt going to get you involved with this yet. Deep down, he still had this fear that he was putting you at risk.
He may or may no train you (without your knowledge). As far as you knew his excessive amount of knife and gun safety lessons were nothing more than self defense.

Thatās a lie. He just wants you to be prepared in case Leon messes with the wrong people, or worse, an outbreak.
The guilt of not telling you is something he feels everyday, and you can tell something is up. Youāre very observant.
