#the way this photoshoot has more creative interest and relevance than anything released thus far for the new s&s #granted the trailer was an objectively Bad Trailer #(as in as a trailer unto itself. so desperate to tell everything that it became incomprehensible)#but so far all we have seen is brown and mud and everyone but Fanny shown to be much poorer than they should be #the Jenkins’ are flamboyant and eccentric and above all fucking loaded????????#that’s why they have a spare cottage kicking around!#where is the colour!#where are the beautiful fabrics!#if you start out with the dash wood women in brown and grey w their hair down and then demote them to… brown and grey with their hair down #then where is the story?#the whole story is about the precarity of being a woman. the dashwoods lived in wealth and #prosperity and it was ripped away by the irresponsibility and lack of foresight by the patriarch of the family #and then them tumble down down the class structure whilst cloning to the tattered remains of their gentility and respectability #but (from what we have seen) there is no material evidence of any of that #is unkind to compare and single badly made trailer and one badly photoshopped poster to a stunning photoshoto #by svilveszter mako no less who is extraordinary #I will see the film and judge it on its own merits - particularly when I still cannot stomach the perfect 90’s adaptation (some day PLEASE)#I have a lot of affection for the 2005 p&p film still but I has aged greatly - it is such a 2000’s film (ambivalent) - and I think it has #done exceasive damage to the period drama landscape by making everyone to poor and deshabille #can’t believe this photoshoot had me physically buying vogue for the first time in a decade or whatever
