Random ass thought I just had while watching #HowTheGrinchStoleChristmas
So during that scene where the Grinch's adoptive mothers are telling the story of how he came to be in their care; we see the Grinch's basket ram into the basket of a different Who child. This sends the Grinch to Whoville and that unknown Who child on a different path.
We know the Grinch's story...BUT WHAT ABOUT THAT OTHER WHO CHILD?!?! Did they end up somewhere else in Whoville? Did they end up somewhere in the frozen tundra only to be raised or eaten by wolves (morbid, I know)?
Or did the Who child end up with the Grinch's intended parents?! Could you imagine what they would be like?!
I mean, let's analyze what we know about the Grinch and make some assumptions about his species, shall we? He's mostly covered in fur which would allow his species to survive the tough winters. The Grinch has super strength which is great for hunting, gathering, and fighting. His long hairy fingers seem to hide sharp claws (as evidenced in the window cutting scene in the movie), which are also great for fighting and hunting. The Grinch seemed to be naturally aggressive, even as a baby. AND HIS DIET! He prefers to eat trash and ROTTEN foods, which indicates to me that his species is used to being the garbage disposals of their ecosystem.
Now with all of that in mind, I think it's safe to assume the species the Grinch belongs to lives a bit differently than the Who's. I could see them living in smaller groups and being scavengers. They need to be strong to fend off any wild animals that may try to attack them or their children.
So, imagine a soft, squishy, relatively hairless Who child being brought up with that species. Could you imagine the struggle they faced? It honestly makes me think of the story Tarzan, though I wouldn't compare the Grinch's species to animals.
