Watched off campus so I could compare it to heated rivalry and what i find is the most glaring difference is for a show that has actual explicit nudity in it, it feels extremely juvenile in its story and execution. I saw someone make a similar point on twitter that the reason HR gets labeled “porn” is because the sexual scenes dont often have a lot of cuts or reframing of the shot, it lingers in wide shots or full frames showing the actors full bodies where you can’t focus on anything else but the sex happening in a way that’s very intimate and wholly adult feeling vs off campus where there’s a billion cuts during a sex scene for either comedic effect or to keep the actors hidden from view. Which is funny to think when off campus has actual breasts and penises on screen and comes off like youre watching something on the CW. Made me appreciate how HR really does feel like it was intended for an adult audience only.
