[JunElezen 2026 Day 30: Free Choice]

If you've been following my prompt journey, you'll notice I skipped a few prompts. Nothing came to mind when I thought of it and instead of sitting there for hours trying to come up with something, I thought it was better to just skip. And you know what? Sometimes that's okay. Prompts aren't a competition, its to have fun and be creative. Sometimes you can't and that's okay. I appreciate everyone who came along for my ride!

ffxiv community: we need to talk about plagiarism whether it's fanfiction or gpose. it's actively hurting this community and pushing people away. get your fucking shit together. ffxiv is supposed to be about supporting each other, encouraging each other. stealing from one another so brazenly is disgusting. i'm sick of seeing my friends and people i admire leave. i'm sick of losing voices in our community because some people are so craven that they decide to steal the works of others instead of creating their own. there's a real problem happening, and no one is talking about it. consider this a PSA and stop ruining everything. we're hemorrhaging people on tumblr because of this.

You know what? Fuck it... I'm reblogging this, I'm on my way out anyways. To all those who have been experiencing the same thing, I deeply sympathise with you and the only thing I can offer is - BE CAREFUL with who you share your stories with, whether it's through fanfics, artwork or even Gposes on here, on Discord, even in your in-game FCs. People are sometimes "kind" to you upfront and within a blink of an eye, will steal your work for what they think is repayment of giving you empty compliments. Especially if you're new to a fandom, even a popular account is not beyond stealing your work.

Why do they do it?

It's because they cant make up their own stories in their own heads about their in-game crush, so they're taking yours to supplement their lack of creativity. Take care all. x

That woman she's speaking of also copied my carrd layout and writing style. Some people really haven't got a single original thought to share. While we are now on each other's block lists, she has adopted the name one of my OCs gave her character (which I think now is just a stand-in for herself). She also liked to use premade gposes then pass them off as her own work.

XIV is the first fandom I've actively participated in, and I've really enjoyed the experience. I've seen and heard of and experienced wild behaviors from others, but overall I quite like the community.

On being East Asian in fandoms ⸺

I will say that I developed some fairly solid walls about my character lore and my own culture and family stories. I've prev had White mutuals grill me for "cultural context" about a variety of things, and they clearly wanted it for their Asian-coded OCs (yet won't stop referring to 'em as "doll-like" despite my objections) to feel more "authentic." Even had White mutuals hound me about the traumas my grandmother experienced during WWII in China, and the war crimes the collective Chinese people suffered due to Japan's war efforts.

Anyway, I encourage folks to be more cognizant and credit others who've inspired you. I went through years of art school, and being candid about your sources of inspiration is very much part of the art-making experience. Also, don't be racist.

I've stopped sharing most, if not all, my lore. Which...makes me incredibly sad. I originally came to Tumblr/Twitter/BSKY with the intentions of sharing my lore, my characters stories and my gposes. But like so many others, I started to notice that my lore...was appearing in other peoples stories and beat for beat. Not even taking inspo, just full on copying. All they did was change Eramus' name to their OC's name and that was it.

It broke my heart.

And now the older I get the less interested I am in sharing what I make. I still do, naturally. But not like I used to and many people have started to notice this. I keep things to myself or to a fic that I post on AO3. But even my FFXIV fics have all almost vanished. I haven't posted an FFXIV fic in 3 years.

3 years. That is an INSANE amount of time. But I just...don't have it in me. People copied me, stole my lore, stole parts of Eramus and to this day I just can't get over it. Now more then ever I feel like just disappearing and fading away.
