Looking for RP: Vilde Eres.
Have you seen it?
There’s a cottage in the woods, overgrown with moss, choked by ivy, and sealed with gaudy, tinted petals. There’s a gutted hut by a jutting drawbridge overgrown with eglantine and ivy and framed by a running creek that cuts through the fog like a silver thread. Stained-glass windows wink with a kaleidoscope of colours that have lost their lustre, and a jutting chimney reaches up and into the fog. There’s a crescent-moon hole carved into the wooden door, and the cottage - however lonely it might appear - heaves a sigh as if in tune with the wind.
There’s a golden glow behind those burnished, rattling windows. There’s a coil of smoke that rises from the spout of the cypress chimney. There’s a creak to the old floorboards, and a formless, silhouetted figure that passes by the candle’s warm glow. There’s a black cat with golden eyes who lingers by the windowsills, sitting by the rosemary and lavender plants with an ever-watchful gaze. There’s a groan to the door, and an absence of dust along the windows.
There’s a cottage in the woods where the stale scent of dead things haunts the cold midnight air.
Vilde Eres runs a small apothecary out of an isolated cottage located in the heart of the Shroud. It is within a house cluttered with potted plants, overgrown vines, gnarled tapestries of swelling tree roots, and stagnant spirits that he conducts his business. Vilde proudly grows, gathers, and cultivates all of his own ingredients, refusing to brew anything but the best to those that will pay for his wares. The witch is capable of concocting lustrous fortune potions, ghastly poisons, luck charms, sleeping droughts, and much, much more. Many of his potions are of his own creations, and he is ever eager to test them on willing (or unwilling) subjects.
In addition to his apothecary, Vilde offers his spellwork as a product of trade. Ready and willing to perform curses, hexes or charms for customers willing to pay the correct price, his manipulations are as eclectic and eccentric as he is. His erudite understanding of the human body makes him an adept healer at mending a range of maladies, from cuts and bruises to more unorthodox complications. He’s a good healer, and he’s excellent at keeping secrets.
In personality, Vilde’s disposition is pleasant, airy, dreamy. Optimistic and infallibly hopeful, eager to find a friend in everything, and anything. Trusting to the point of fault, and kind to the point of naïveté. Vilde is intelligent, ritualistic, curious, insightful, and softly-spoken. He’s greedy, power-hungry, and ravenous for knowledge. He’s easily swayed, mild-mannered, and ever so woefully manic. Odd, and eccentric, he can be endearing, just as he can be surprising.
The heat and sand have his visits to the desert sparse and short-lived, though he does venture there from time to time wrapped in pale silks from head to toe all save for his spotted tail; protruding past too much chiffon in a mess of sand-blasted spots and pale-lilac fur. Vilde’s business in the jewel of the desert largely pertains to a listless hunt for ingredients that are unobtainable within his home in the Shroud, and rarely will he ever venture outside of the city’s walls. In Ul’dah, Vilde is likely to seek out a guide to help him navigate the city’s winding tapestries of twists and turns, a mercenary to safeguard him from the shadier parts of the city, or other sellers of disreputable goods in order to better discern his “competition”.
He doesn’t visit Ul’dah often, unless it is to see a client, or for a meeting. This is the least likely place to find Vilde.
Shaded from the harsh rays of the Vyldbrand sun under the broad rim of an eglantine-adorned straw hat, and a gilded pair of tinted pince-nez, Vilde’s journeys to La Noscea usually occur at night. He can usually be spotted dwelling along fisherman’s bottom in search of herbs, spices, and food unique to the costal regions. He enjoys the company of the sea, though he lacks the wherewithal to seek it out for himself; preferring instead to listen to tales of its majesty than taste, or touch it. In Limsa, Vilde is most likely to seek out merchants and sailors for trade and safe passage home, he may also seek out storytellers, libraries and temples.
These trips are just as short-lived, and Vilde is almost always gone before dawn.
The Twelveswood is and always has been Vilde’s home. From the cluttered arbour of the East Shroud, to the musty bog of the Southern reaches of the woods, he ventures through every inch of it. He knows every vine and every petal as if they’re his dearest friends, and just where he ought to visit to replenish his ever-dwindling supply of ingredients. He’s bonded to the forest in an extremely unique way, and views it almost like an old friend and confidant; one he feels an obligation to safeguard and protect.
In the Shroud, poachers, other Keeper of the Moon Miqo’te, hunters, adventurers and lost spirits are entirely likely to stumble across him. He also has made a name for himself amongst the Wood Wailers, who do not tend to like him. Vilde is also somewhat known within Gridania as a healer, and as a Hearer. It’s likely that those looking for more unorthodox methods might be pointed in his direction.
Vilde’s trips to Gridania are sporadic yet quite frequent, though he usually visits during the night, and can be found wandering the Yainu-par, or through the Gilded Fane.
Darker inclined characters might know him or might have heard of him as a trustworthy and discreet source of potions, poisons, curses and healing aid.
Vilde is a healer who does not ask too many questions about where inflicted wounds come from. He’ll do his work and be done.
His treatments are generally natural though unconventional. He can tend to physical injuries, illnesses, withdrawals, protection spells as well as breaking magical curses. He’s also quite skilled at embalming as well as funerary rites.
I would really love for him to take a few more patients under his care for treatments, and I’m super open to discuss this further!
Vilde has an interest in learning about Ishgardian society, and how to be a Normal Person. Due to his relatively isolated lifestyle, he is largely unaware of a lot of social cues (including things like clothing, not to eat with his hands, etc), someone to help him learn manners, table manners, and things like that would be really lovely. There’s someone he’d like to impress with his newfound decorum!
Some of the potions kept amongst his collection contain hallucinogenic qualities, and otherwise illegal paraphernalia. They’re unlike somnus, or fogweed, but those who know of the right places to look would have undoubtedly heard of Vilde’s interesting brand of magical mushrooms and hazy plants.
Wanderers lost in the woods are likely to encounter him or his cottage. It’s off the track, and fairly deep within the woods, but it isn’t especially hidden away or out of sight.
Merchants or couriers are likely to meet him - either for a delivery of items or a transaction for something new. I have a million ideas for possible buyer/merchant relationships.
Other Keepers of the Moon might be familiar with his clan name - I’m more than open to discuss this ooc to figure something out if you would like to explore this further!
I’m eager for him to meet other spellcasters or magic-users since there is still quite a bit that he wants to learn when it comes to spellwork.
He has a bit of a bad reputation with the Wood Wailers, and I’m totally open to having him “hunted” by someone paid off by a Wailer who is tired of Vilde’s nonsense.
Vilde also tends to take injured animals under his wing to nurse back to health and release. Maybe he found a pet belonging to a distraught owner?
Poachers or regular “hunters” within the Shroud might just receive a visit from him.
Hellooo! I’m Sunny, I’m 24 years old, and I’m from Australia, so my timezone can be tricky. I primarily do multi-paragraph roleplay, though I don’t always expect my partners to match. I fully believe in quality over quantity, but it is just my preference to indulge a little with my writing! I love dark and spooky plots, romance, slice of life, a little splash of combat rp and horror, so I’m really only interested in plotting and writing with people who are over eighteen years of age! I’m more than happy to discuss limits and levels of comfort with my partners prior to beginning our roleplay, as I strongly believe in communication! Also, if you’d like to rp but don’t see anything in this post that could engage your character with Vilde, I have MANY alts!
I’m happy to roleplay both in-game, or over discord, though the latter will always be my preference as I find I can be a lot free-er with my writing when it’s on discord, but I’m absolutely down for in-game scenes as well!
If you’d like to get in touch to talk about a plot or anything like that, you can find me at Sunny#4558 on discord!!
Thank you for reading!
