@xlibre-official
I tested Xlibre against Xorg on my machine and the difference in performance is minimal to the point it might just be placebo.
linuxposting tends to be frustrating on this site because on one hand I am deeply aware that even among people willing to switch it's enough that one program that they use on daily basis does not work on Linux, it's enough to be a deal breaker, and this results in this mismatch of experiences where for one person switching is extremely maddening endeavour while for others they go "hey it was incredibly simple for me what gives" and for both happens to be true and they both end up talking over each other because for both of them this was their exact lived experience.
there's also another annoyance where you see posts that do point out the material conditions for why adoption of linux on desktop computers is so low (my program doesn't work -> OS is not adopted by users -> people writing programs don't make a linux version because of seemingly too much effort for the number of users) and they're true, but also they attract a certain population of users which treat this as an invitation to rant on the linux community and the obnoxiousness, and how some linux user dared to suggest to switch linux at them. and what now, do I reblog this with the comment of "yes I am one of the good ones" or similar. am I supposed to provide eternal tech support without complaining because if I complain once I will be labelled as the obnoxious linux user and this will reflect on the wider linux community.
anyway if you find linux users annoying, try dealing with windows users.
One nice thing about running a Linux gimmick blog is that your mutuals self-select.
I still dual-boot myself because I do not feel like having to worry about whether game X or application Y will run if I'm in a hurry, though on Windows I use stuff like Firefox, Libreoffice, and Kdenlive rather than proprietary equivalents.
another nice thing is.. I've found you
i never know how to feel about xlibre because i think maintaining smth old seems p cool to me as an option for ppl but i hear about how the main developer is "anti-DEI" and then i read the statement ppl refer to and it reads like the guy is pretty pro inclusion ??? so it just feels like this
exactly! Everyone be saying stuff and then the official statement is something completely different. It fries my brain all the time.

They also got removed from the Arch Wiki for breaking the rule on respecting other FOSS projects. You can still install the AUR package though.
Oh yeah I remember that happening.
There's also the third party repo that someone made for xlibre as well.
I genuinely use xlibre just to commit to the bit of having this blog. I will be testing it against normal x11 to see if there have been code improvements. For anyone wondering why I don't run Wayland, my machine likes to be special and just shit itself when Wayland runs (I love old ass 2012 laptops). Knowing my luck, Wayland will all of a sudden just work perfectly fine the next time I try to run it, but if it does I cannot be fucked to sit there and try to figure out screen recording and global hotkeys just to save dumbass clips from me and my friends doing goofy shit on call.
