How do we appear to you? I ask you… how do we appear? Do you think us beautiful, magical, our white skin, our fierce eyes? Oh, I remember perfectly what mortal vision was, the dimness of it, and how the vampire’s beauty burned through that veil, so powerfully alluring, so utterly deceiving!

The night was cold and wet, echoing her petite running foot steps throughout the streets. Petite hands lifted to rub at her eyes in attempt to wipe away her crimson tears that refused to stop. She didn't know where she was going only that it was away, away from him. Her mind was flooded with the images of events that had just transpired moments ago, making it difficult to hold in the sobs that fluttered from her trembling lips.

She felt so lost, so broken. Her chest hurt from her deep despair that she shifted a hand to grasp the fabric of her dress just over her heart. Through her blurred vision she looked left, then right, behind her but thankfully Lestat wasn't there. Not that she could see. Another wave of dread rush through her so powerful she almost collapsed to the ground. Instead, she stumbled on her feet and pushed on. She stumbled her way into an absent building, not caring where she was or what she was doing because, in truth, she was in such distress she didn't exactly know what was happening around her.

Clutching at the wall for support, she lowered herself with her back into a corner. Pulling her knees to her chest and not caring that she was in a dress, she bowed her head and sobbed into her hands, letting the darkness engulf her.

While Claudia and Lestat would go out for their hunts, Louis would stay behind in the comfort of their flat. Curled up with a book by the fireplace, he found himself attempting to read and reread the same page all while wondering where his beloved daughter had gone tonight. Wondering what sort of victims she’d claim. 

He never saw himself. He’d only be told when the two blondes would trudge their way back into the home and tell Louis what transpired that evening.

Tonight was different, however. His family were gone longer than he expected. 

He checked the time on the clock nearby. The sun will rise in just a few hours. 

Louis didn’t want to take any chances as he rose to his feet, rushing to grab his coat on his way out the door and into the night to find his maker and the little girl they called their daughter.

“Claudia?” He called out for her, panicked like a mother looking for her lost child. “Lestat?”

His sharp hearing caught the sound of those little cries he heard long ago. His face fell, hearing Claudia whimper somewhere nearby. Louis called to her again and again, letting her know he was coming to her.

And once he found her, soaked in her own tears, he immediately bundled her into his arms.

“Oh, my love... my sweet girl. What’s the matter? What happened? Talk to me... we need to get you home. The morning is coming,” he spoke gently.
