"Death extends his hand, smiling, “Deal?”’
It was so cold, the tile against her skin as her eyes shakily opened. Her back was up against the wall, cornered by a male before her. Usually, the tables were turned, and she was the one doing the pressuring, but not now. Her vision was blurry, the room was spinning, and doubles of everything were around her. She couldn’t remember what happened, how she’d got here, or why there was such a sharp pain at the back of her head.
Shaky hands lifted towards the area of irritation, fingers grazing so delicately over the wound that she’d found. Her hair was wet and matted, and when she saw her hand again, it was stained red. She slowly lifted her head to meet the eyes of the male, the smirk decorating his sharp features made her heart drop deep inside her stomach. She felt something that she hadn’t felt in such a long time. Fear. She was scared. Had he done this to her, she couldn’t recall. It took all of her strength to remain in the form of the human girl she was portraying, and not to fall back into her true appearance.
He took a knee in front of her, piercing gaze never faltering from her own weak one. It was hard to just focus on him, with the entire space still swirling around her. She could feel sleep clouding her mind, daring to pull her into unconsciousness. His lips started moving, but she couldn’t clearly make out what he was saying. Bits and pieces were all that was heard, but it was confirmed, he’d done this to her. This wasn’t right, she was never the victim. She was ashamed of herself, ashamed that she couldn’t stand up and fight, and that he was winning.
He could kill her if he wanted to, but he’d have to do it fast. What seemed like forever for the mutant, was really only a few minutes. Her body was already starting to heal itself, the wound atop of her head, closing. Though her energy was still flat, the swaying atmosphere had started to steady out. She now only say one of him, instead of the three that she’d seen only seconds before. Visually, she still looked fragile, but her strength was starting to come to her, quicker than it had left her. The mutants healing abilities had been delayed, probably because the blow to her head had knocked her out. But it was all coming back.
The look on his face was that of pure evil, she could see the darkness in him through his eyes. This man could be death himself. He wanted something from her, she listened to his guidelines as she waited for her strength to return to her. He wanted her to help him, could he know who she truly was? If she didn’t follow his rules, her punishment would be death, according to him of course. Though now that she was feeling better, she had plans of her own. ”Deal?” He asked, brow raised as he leaned against his knees. A smirk shifted along her lips, mimicking the one that he’d had on his own minutes before.
“Sorry, but I don’t play well with others.” And with that, she stood up, her own fist connecting with his jaw, taking the momentary pause to flee from the scene. She left through the door, and walked down the narrow hall towards the crowd of voices she heard. Before she turned the corner, she changed. Within the time it took to blink your eyes, she looked completely different then she had before. Now, she was a male, dark hair that hung over his forehead, and equally as dark eyes. And once she merged with the crowd, Mystique was practically invisible to whoever was trying to find her.
