The fuck? I own that same mug! Lol
I’ve spent the last few days crying because I’m pretty positive I have severe hearing damage from having my volume too loud for years and years. PLEASE listen to me and turn your music down. I’m only 21 and failed an online hearing test. Daydreams are not worth hearing loss, this is a permanent thing.
^^^This! If you notice that your ears are ringing/buzzing for long periods of time, that’s tinnitus and it’s a sign of hearing loss. If that starts happening it’s time to give your ears a serious break. Take the headphones off completely for a few weeks, and stay away from places with a lot of loud, sustained sound, like clubs, concerts, construction sites, movie theaters, etc. If you cant avoid that then wear earplugs. It sucks, but it’s the only way to keep your hearing from becoming more damaged. I didn’t do any of this and now I’m 23 and the ringing in my ears is permanent. I might lose my hearing completely by the time I’m middle aged. It’s awful.
i’m almost tempted to make a tumblr devoted to awareness of non-depression/anxiety mental illnesses
I think it’s outrageous and actually counterproductive that the mental health awareness only focuses on depression. I’m not saying that depression and anxiety are fun, because they’re not. But disorders like schizophrenia, schizoaffective, bipolar 1, OCD, and BPD that generally have worse prognoses(such as, but not limited to, social isolation, relationship problems, losing touch with reality, being a danger to themselves/others due to psychosis as opposed to just being dissatisfied with life and not wanting to live anymore).
I also find overall that when someone has depression, others will be like, “dont’ worry. things will get better” in a supportive way. But when it comes to other disorders, people, not only dont know what to do, but will often give people bad labels and poor judgement due to symptoms of their illness.
It is not uncommon for people with BPD to be labelled socially as unstable and someone you want to avoid due to their mood swings, despite people not knowing they have BPD. It is also common for schizophrenic spectrum people to get labelled as psycho and weird for their weird views, but also to be considered unempathetic, unfriendly and hateful due to their flat affect.
Seriously, I’m getting really tempted to start a new mental health awareness campaign called NotJustDepression but I honestly wouldn’t know where to start.

Sjws are so hateful
Posting on Facebook under their real names how we should be nice to Muslims because it's Christians who are bad. It's like SJWS can only support someone by hating someone else. Here's an idea SJWs. You should be nice to Muslims because they are human beings with feelings and you should also be nice to Christians because they are also human beings with feelings. Geez. You'd think this would be common sense by now. But I'd be a fool to expect logic from extremists.
We need to stop giving attention to the "I'm so oppressed" people
There are a lot of people who have mental illnesses who, instead of whining, were proactively and gave themselves coping strategies and forced themselves to get to a better state through their willpower. These people are what I like to call success stories. And these are the people we should be giving attention to. When you hear about people who've struged with PTSD and schizophrenia share their stories of how they succeeded despite their illness, they are an inspiration to other mentally ill people and we can learn from their stories. In high school, they made me watch A Beautiful Mind in class. And when I was really sick in my 20s I thought back to that movie, where this man had severe hallucinations and the lot, and I thought my illness isn't even as bad as that. If he can learn to overcome it then so can I. Sometimes you need to cry/get angry and let out all your emotions because it's not healthy to bottle them up inside you. But whining about how oppressed you are at best doesn't help but probably makes you worse, and it makes you a target.
People who plaster their political views all over themselves
Such as pins on their bags, badges on their coats. That's what I like to call An Invitation To Fight. I saw a women with a No Fur badge sewn to her coat. It pretty much makes you a target for argumentative opinionated people to walk up to you and tell you why you're wrong thus starting a fight. People who do it on Facebook are stupid too. That's your real identity and your real friends. On Tumblr and Gaiaonline it's different. Everyone uses a fake identity, often a persona or an OC. And it's not your real life friends on there. The moment you post on Gaiaonline or Tumblr you're willingly assuming the risk that people are going to fight with you and insult you. But it's one thing to get into an argument on Tumblr or Gaiaonline with someone who could be a persona, OC, or troll where the worst that'll happen is someone telling you to go die. And it's another thing to have someone on a public bus see your controversial views plastered to yourself and start what a verbal argument that has potential to escalate to a physical fight. Anyway, tl;dr plastering your political/moral views on your person makes you a target.
anyone else ever get a weird feeling when using real people in their daydreams that like, overtime their character that you made up has evolved so much to fit different daydreams that they're no longer like the real person at all, and it kinda feels like you forgot what that person is actually like. This happens to me every now and then and i always get this really weird and kinda guilty and sad feeling.
I can't even maladaptive daydream about people i know in real life. Sometimes I meet people so interesting that my brain starts to go there and I need to force it to stop. You should avoid maladaptive daydreams about irl people, especially violent daydreams, because your daydreaming can unleash powers in your brain and cause these things to happen to that person.
tbh I don’t get people who are so opposed to riding the bus and have to drive everywhere
So much interesting shit has happened to me on the bus that could never happen in the privacy of a car.
I’ve had conversations with strangers about all sorts of random things, including insomnia tips, and coffee.
I had an old perma-drunk person ask me out and invite me to his New Year’s party (I mean, I didn’t go obviously, but still a great story to tell)
The amount of good fights I’ve seen go down on the bus is countless.
And then lastly I can zone off to my daydream world without causing an accident.
Can you have madd without experiencing trauma. I have all the signs of madd with pacing long daydreams a bunch of characters and AUs, all of the things you see people talk about but I've never experienced trauma, my life is pretty easy actually. So can madd be caused by other things?
Yes.

It's honestly disgusting how all abnormal traits and mental illness just automatically get associated with a person being abused. I have done maladaptive daydreaming since I was 3 years old and I had my first psychotic episode when I was 8 and I was never abused or involved in anything traumatic. My maladaptive daydreaming was a way to deal with boredom and insomnia as I grew up in a place where there was fuck all to do and has pretty high rates of substance abuse and crime for the same reason that there is nothing to do. My mental illness is caused by a genetic autoimmune disorder.
So anyone who says people who are different, weird, or mentally ill must have been abused can eat a bag of dicks.
Of course trauma and abuse will fuck you up mentally for sure. It's just far from the sole cause and is only a cause of some disorders not even all of them. Though would affect the prognosis of the genetic ones.
TW: I HATE THE CURRENT MENTAL HEALTH CAMPAIGN, NOT THE MENTALLY ILL
A lot of people assume because I am against Bell Let’s Talk that I am against mental health awareness, so I decided to tell you why I hate Bell Let’s Talk so you understand this is not the case.
1: Bell Talk Focuses primarily on depression
-I will not argue that depression sucks, because it does. I get depressive episodes. But depression is far from the only mental illness out there.
-What Bell Let’s Talk does in their campaign is creates this illusion that depression [and anxiety] is the acceptable mental illness, while the others still get heavily stigmatized.
-Other disorders get mentioned in Bell Let’s Talk campaign only for the reason anyone can use that tag. For example, if on Bell Let’s Talk Day, I wanted to share my story with schizoaffective, I could go on Facebook, write about my story with schizoaffective and then tag #BellLetsTalk. But that is not the Bell Let’s Talk campaign including a non-depression disorder. It is me talking about a non-depression disorder and using their tag
2: In only talking about depression, they spread misinformation
Trigger Warning: skip to #4 if you feel unsafe
-They make the common misassociation that suicide is a direct result of depression, when this is often not the case. Borderline Personality Disorder and schizophrenia have higher suicide rates than depression, yet are left completely out.
-While it is good to know how to help someone in an unsafe mental crisis, the techniques used for talking a depressed person out of suicide can be different than those used for talking a schizophrenic or BPD person out of it. For example, a schizophrenic may be suffering from delusions of guilt and believe he killed multiple people, and that he has to kill himself as a punishment. By assuming he is depression, you may tell him he’s a good person, or is worthy. When in reality this may make him feel guiltier in ways such as, This person has no idea I’m a killer. I’m a horrible person for not admitting to this person that I’m not actually a good person, that I’m a murderer.
3. Their tactics can be harmful
Trigger Warning: skip to #4 if you feel unsafe
-One of the things Bell Let’s Talk does is shares stories on tv about people who have killed themselves in an attempt to “raise awareness”. Yet it is known that sharing stories like this, whether in campaigns, or in news, or what have you, can trigger schizophrenics and BPDs to commit suicide. So their campaign is now counter-productive. Suicide awareness helps those who have lost loved ones to suicide, but harms those who are mentally at risk of suicide. So how is that good.
4. Stigma against depression is not comparable to stigma against other disorders
First off, I’m going to right out say that the demographic that receives the most stigma in society is those with HIV, which isn’t even a mental illness.
Second off, I know people think that the whole “get over it or “she’s just a little sad” mentality is a stigma towards depressed people, and maybe it is.
But that stigma is nothing compared to the stigma that people with schizophrenia, bipolar 1, Borderline Personality Disorder, PTSD, and substance abuse disorders get.
People with substance abuse disorders are wrong assumed that they are drug addicts because they partied too much, or other stupid reasons, and on top of that they also automatically get the HIV stigma because needle addicts have the highest rates of HIV.
People with schizophrenia and bipolar [mania] are deemed to be dangerous, not in control of their actions, and people are afraid of them. As a result they may face social isolation. It is not a common idealism to be afraid of depressed people.
People with BPD are deemed out of control, over dramatic, and emotionally unstable and, like those with schizophrenia and bipolar[mania] may face social isolation as a result.
So no, people thinking you should get over it or calling you just a little sad is not comparable to people avoiding you like the plague because they think you’re dangerous, out of control, and going to give them HIV.
5. The stigma against depressed people was probably caused by campaigns like Bell Let’s Talk
-Have you seen their commercials? They portray depressed people as whiny, incompetent invalids who need everyone to do everyone for them because they’re too sad to perform basic tasks.
6. Bell doesn’t even care about depressed people
-Poverty is a huge risk factor for developing depression.
-Unemployment rates lead to depression
-Bell outsourced a shit ton of jobs to India because they’re too greedy to pay Canadians minimum wage
-This massive layoff causes the unemployment rates to go up
-The unemployment rates cause poverty to go up
-Poverty causes depression
-Good job Bell, you’re a major cause of depression, so take your campaign and shove it up your ass

For the record, all my services are with Rogers. Rogers is just your typical, expected greedy business who uses sketchy wording in contracts and tries to force you in contracts and extra charges without your consent. Bell is that plus they pray on the vulnerable in their ad campaigns. And Rogers tech support is in Canada.
I fear driving. I fear that I'm going to daydream and lose focus of where I am.
As someone who just recently got a car–at first you won’t be able to daydream because the fear and anxiety keeps you focused on the road. It’s when you get comfortable that your mind will be able to wander. I’d suggest using loud music or talk radio, maybe even keep the windows down.

Omg! The movement of driving puts me in daydream mode so much. I hate driving. I just go straight to daydream mode and so hard to pay attention. Thankfully I'm too poor for a car and ride the bus
YOU WHINING ABOUT HOW OPPRESSED YOU RUINS IT FOR EVERYONE
Seriously, you all need to go fuck yourselves.
As someone with celiac disease, I’m tired of being associated with all those damn as fake gluten-intolerant fuck heads who go into restaurants and yell at food service workers to make sure their food is gluten-free cuz their fucking gluten intolerant asses will die if they come in contact with one spec of gluten.
It’s not an allergy; you won’t die from one tiny spec of gluten, and thanks a lot because now food services don’t take real celiac seriously, because of you fuckhead who went into restaurants yelling at servers to make your food gluten-free while chowing down on their free biscuits and drinking a Heineken.
Maybe MDD isn't a mental disorder, but an extremely inconvenient superpower of endless uncontrollable creativity.

Anon, I think you are correct!
Black slave labour still exists
The cane sugar industry uses [some of] the worst slave labour in the world, and most of these slaves are black. Every time you eat something that is sweetened with cane sugar, often just labelled as sugar or sucrose, or molasses, or rum, you are supporting [black] slave labour. If you give a fuck about humanity you wouldn't eat cane sugar.
Is anyone else really f****** terrified for the day that Maladaptive daydreaming becomes "Mainstream" and "Trendy" to have like AS and BPD has on social media? I feel like it's exactly the kind of thing people would diagnose themselves with 20 seconds into a wiki article and parade it around. Like I love this little community of people that all understand each other and I don't want that to go away. (Violet)
Yes.
