There’s a difference between loving somebody and being in love with someone. I think that Katara loved Aang, but I don’t think that she was in love with him. In my own head that tries to rationalize the canon, it takes her until adulthood to realize the difference. The man that she cares about, has affection towards and is nurturing towards, that’s Aang. But the man that makes her proud with how far he’s come, the one that’s her equal, the one that lights her on fire just by looking at her, that’s Zuko.
