There’d been a time where Camael
had thought she was indestructible as well. But
time had shown her just how wrong she’d been,
had taught her a lesson against such cockiness.
Cam could see Claire shift away out of the corner
of her eyes and she sighed. She was scaring the
girl who she considered her own and that was
something Camael never wanted to do.
Licking her lips, the archangel turned
blue eyes over to Claire. She sat down on the bed
and motioned for the young woman to come over.
Only once Claire was seated next to her did Camael
start to pluck the words from where they were stuck
in her throat.
”Now, you now that angels can heal
their vessels to perfection… so you have to understand
that for my vessel to be scarred like it is, it’s because
my grace itself has been scarred. It can’t heal the damage
completely.”
She spoke quietly, as if a vocal pitch
higher than this would shatter the very air around them
and they would all suffocate on the jagged shards. Cam
swallowed hard and looked at Claire, reaching over to tuck
a strand of sunshine hair behind her cute little ear. A small
broken smile before the archangel continued,
“I recieved the one on my back first.
It was a punishment. You see, I left Heaven to escape
Michael’s war against Lucifer. But Castiel and the
Winchester’s were able to renew my faith. Not in God,
but in the purpose I’d been charged with. But things don’t
always go according to plan, Claire. I was ambushed and
taken back to Heaven and for my crime of abandoning my
post, among other things, I was put in a cell and branded.
An angel working in the prison made sure that I would never
forget where my allegiance was to lie.” she explained.
Another tiny wobbly smile, index finger
reaching out to boop Claire on the nose.
“I didn’t. My allegiance will always lie with
humanity, with you and your father.”
no matter how the angel scared her;
claire still trusted her with her life --
camael had looked after her since the
day she'd come into her & her dad's
lives -- there's no other that she trusted
as much. seated next to her, claire blinks
& listens, her expression twisted into
one conveying horror & anger -- that
she'd been treated so. camael was family
now; & to hear the things she was put
through, angered claire a lot more than
most things did.
her nose scrunched up when cam tapped
it, & a grin widened on her face.
❛ you're safe with us, cam --
you're family. ❜
