Sehun trails after Meiqi, the both of them rushing to exit the place. He uses his height to his advantage, still keeping a lookout until they were in the clear just in case the securitt team realizes too early that they had gotten away. They stepped out of the place, safely mingling with the rest of the world. His cheeks are strained, almost unable to contain the grin that sretches across his lips. The laughter that spills from her mouth was enough to trigger his own, his shoulders shaking as his body vibrates from laughing in pure joy.
It’s weird, he thinks, to have this much fun despite the fact that they had just almost got into trouble (and nearly got caught, thank god for their stamina and still young age). He’s never been in a chase like that. Pretty sure he’s never been chased like that before nor had he ran that fast in his life. But it was exhilirating, the feeling he gets when the security team was left in the dust and that they were able to shake them off adds up to the many reasons behind his smile. Even her sudden question took a while to register, but his smile never faltered.
“Talk about close call, right?” he chuckles, mirroring the smile that Meiqi had on her lips. Then his next words had him freezing in his spot, a sudden realization hitting him that had him promptlu grimacing. He’s never been thankful to be underage.
“Good thing we’re both not legal, yet, huh?” this time his laugh was shaky, a little insure and nervous. He briefly wonders what would have happened if they had been caught, their guardians called and news reaching everyone. The very thought of it makes him shudder visibly.
“Then I’m glad we’re both fast runners,” he chuckles nervously. Getting into any trouble wouldn’t be good with him being a trainee. “Does this mean we need to be in hiding for a while?” the teasing tone in his voice returns, even jokingly winking at her.
“maybe you’re not!” she says with a laugh, poking him in the side when she addresses him. “i may be small and compact but i am very legal, thank you very much!” she pauses as soon as she says it, realizing that maybe in this case it would be good to be underage, too. maybe she could get away with it based on her looks alone. she’s not even exactly sure about the legalities of korean law, but if anything else, she could cry up a storm. people always hate it when women cry.
she nods enthusiastically at sehun’s words, thankful that she’s a nimble dancer for the billionth time in her life. she’s thankful that the ominous feeling has disappeared, much preferring their lightheartedness over the thoughts of being sent to jail or prison. if she had struggled so much when she first moved to seoul on her own, she couldn’t even imagine what it would be like inside a jail cell miles and miles from home and her lavish gangnam apartment.
"we should be fine as long as we get as far away from that store as possible,” she responds, picking up the pace as she says it, adding a skip to her steps as she moves ahead of sehun just slightly, only enough to turn around and speak to him as she walks backward.
“hey, wanna go to the aquarium while we’re on the downlow?” she says, eyes lighting up as soon as she suggests it. for all her lavish life, she can’t remember ever having been to the aquarium, and since there’s one directly in the mall, she simply can’t miss the chance to go for the first time. in order to convince him if he wasn’t convinced already, she adds, “i’ll pay for your ticket!”
