All i can give you is memories,
Carry them with you and iâll never leave,
Iâll lay my head down, in the shadow by your side.Â
Khari laughed faintly at her first comment, unable to help it before biting her lip, a soft sob falling from between gritted teeth as she rested her free hand against the brunetteâs head, tracing a thumb lightly back and forth near her hair line. âPlease justâ donât go, SkyeâŠ. I need ya.â She whispered, her voice barely audible against the huge, burning lump in her throat. The huntress couldnât actually believe it was happening, still half expecting it to just be a bad dream that she would wake up from at any minute.
She smirked only faintly at the hunterâs laugh, splutering a little as her breathing became heavier and heavier. âY-you got meâŠalways, ândâŠâ Skye was cut off by another coughing fit, only this one didnât stop. She clung to Khari, tears falling down the side of her face and into her hair at the pain of it all. There was so much she wanted to say to the brunette; she didnât want it to end like this, but she was so tired and she just couldnât find it in her to hold on any longer. Keeping her grip as tight as she could muster to her best friend, she hung on until her last breath.
Khari didnât even know what to say, her vision completely blurred as she tried to understand what Skye was talking about. She got the gist of it, but she couldnât even think straight herself. Resting her forehead against the other girlâs for a moment, she kissed her harshly, letting it linger before pulling back just enough to rest against her forehead once again as she gulped down the burning lump in her throat. âI love you, okay? More than a friend, whatever you tried to start before, in that wayâŠI love you.â She practically whimpered, tears just free falling down her face by this point.
Skye wasnât expecting the kiss, but even in her hazy, light-headed state she was glad for it. âH-Hell of a, send off.â She replied incredibly shakily, trying to joke as she held on to the girlâs hand that was pressed against the wound at her stomach. âLoveâ yu tooâŠ.â Â
âOh really?â She smirked, getting cut off by the kiss and just letting the brunette have a few more moments in that position as they deepened it, before reversing the roles easily enough and pinning Skyeâs wrists above her head. âYeah i donât think thatâs happening.â
Skye just laughed as the positions were switched so easily. It had always been obvious Khari was stronger, so it was expected sheâd try something like this, and Skye had no problem being under her either. âJust wait, youâll see.â Leaning up as much as she could, she caught the girlâs lips in her own once more.
Khari wasnât expecting Skye to try and stop her getting help, but that didnât mean that deep down, she didnât understand what the girl was saying. Even so, there was no way she could bring herself to agree with it. âNo. You cannot just expect me to sit here and watch you die!â The brunette replied in a cracked voice, gulping past the huge lump in her throat as she shook her head faintly. ââŠYou canât ask me to do thatâŠâ She finally added in a whisper, tears starting to fall down her cheeks.
âRiâSâokayâŠâ She replied raspily, using a blood-stained hand to clumsily try and wipe at her best friendâs tears. âI w-want this more thanâŠthemâi donât, not them.â The brunette tried to explain, blood pooling in her mouth as she tried to cough it up. âJust..get âere..â  She replied, not quite sure how to actually explain any more but wanting Khari closer.  Â
âI know.. Iâm not really a vampire fan myself, Iâve only met a really small handful that have changed my opinions of them..and sheâs not one of them. I try and hang out with Khari as much as I can, we actually went sparring the other dayâ Qhuinn chuckled, before motioning to Aiden to bring her a collar. âI have to put this on you, sorryâŠâ
âWell i guess thatâs something we have in common then.â She replied with a small smile to the point about vampires. They really did seem to be the worst bunch here. Her smile grew a little at the mention of sparing, raising a brow at Qhuinn. âYeah? Well thatâs always fun until you end up with fake vampire bites.â The girl chuckled, before biting her lip at the mention of the collar but still nodding once. ââKay.â
Two weeks and I still canât bury ya...
The hunterâs mood was defeated for a second when the other made mention of Alexa, his lips pressing tightly together, âYeah, thatâs pretty screw-y too, isnât it?â Mitchell knew exactly what the vampiress was capable of and the fact that she did not appear to have changed one bit after ten years could only mean the worst. Skye didnât have to know, though. âI promise ya Iâm going to do whateverâs in my hand to help her while youâre down there, Skye. SheâŠitâll all be fine, kay?â
âYouâre telling me...She sounds like a real piece of work.â Skye could only go off what Khari had told her, and although the huntress had tried to brush it off, it was easy enough to read between the lines. Nodding at Mitchellâs response, they finally reached the scrapyard. âOkay just...I know you canât keep her safe, Mitch but--- I donât know, just look out for her, i canât do fuck all down there.â She admitted solemnly, before picking up a crowbar-like piece of metal. âOh, and speakinâ of whatâs to hand, iâve actually go some good new for you.âÂ
Khari wrapped her arms around the brunetteâs neck as she felt herself being pushed back, keeping their lips locked the entire time. âYou never complained before.â She smirked, her hands beginning to wonder under her friendâs top as she grazed her nails lightly up her back.
âYeah, well, iâm on top now, so get used to it.â She teased, cocking a brow at the girl playfully. Leaning down to deepen the kiss further, she began exploring the otherâs mouth with her tongue, a soft shiver running down her spine at the nails gliding up her back.
Two weeks and I still canât bury ya...
Mitchell chuckled softly and step forward to embrace the young woman; softly stroking the back of her head, âSheâs told me a bazillion times, you donât need to tell me, kiddo.â He had the hug last for a while, knowing well that he needed it and then let go, âYeah, we are. Where is it?â  The hunter cracked his knuckles and joined her side to follow the right track to where she was taking them. âWhen did ya find this?â
Skye wasnât expecting the hug, but she was glad for it all the same. Wrapping her arms around the manâs waist, she just stayed like that for a while, taking in the familiar scent. âCourse she has.â The brunette mumbled with a smirk, before finally pulling back. âThis way.â She added, leading the way to it. âI..a couple of weeks ago. I got taken out for a bit and Khari told me about Alexa---I needed to hit something that wouldnât get me killed.âÂ
But you, youâre special to me. When Iâm with you I feel something is just right. I believe in you. I like you. I donât want to let you go.

âPretty much. Iâm kind of neurotic about my kitchen anyway, itâs a mess but itâs Phoenix and Iâs messâ Qhuinn chuckled softly. She noticed the way Skye perked up at the mention of Mitchell name, and a shot of pride with through her. Her mate just had that effect on people. âYeah..I know.. I was going to rent her but..Vampire Barbie got to her first. Sheâs..a real piece.. Anyway though, you want to take a little walk? See if this is something youâd like to do?â
âSounds good to me.â Skye replied with a faint smile, more than happy to not go near the kitchen. The smile left her face completely at the mention of Alexa, and she nodded. âYeah...Iâve heard all about her. Itâs fucked up, she shouldnât have to deal with that all the time on her own.â She replied bitterly, hating that she couldnât do anything about Khariâs situation. âAnd okay, thatâs be great actually..âÂ
Two weeks and I still canât bury ya...
ââŠwhere do I sign? You just know how to lift a mood, donât ya..twigs, was that it?â
Skyeâs smile faded slightly at the nickname, rolling her eyes playfully. âOh for god sake, sheâs never gonna let me live that down is she? We were kids, and iâd never used a weapon before, and twigs was all i could find, okay? I didnât know sheâd followed me.â Shaking her head, she smirked. Khari had also saved her life that night, but there was no point bringing that up at the minute. âSo are we going or not?âÂ
Khari took her jacket off quickly, using it to apply pressure to the wound as the brunette started coughing, not knowing what else to do. âShh just⊠Donât talk, okay? Weâll get you some help.â She replied shakily, looking around to nothing but darkness. They really were in the middle of nowhere right now. Taking a breath to try and steady her voice, she shouted as loud as she could. âHey! Thereâs a human out of her cell over here!â The huntress knew no one would come if she said injured, but maybe they would for that. âYouâll be alright..you will.â
Skye grabbed hold of Khariâs top when what the girl was actually doing registered, bunching the material up in her fist as she roughly tried to pull her in closer. âDonât. I donât want⊠Iâm not beinâ one of âem, KharâŠSâwhat theyâll do ifâŠjust donât..Promise me.. P-lease.â It wasnât that she wanted to die, far from it, she was terrified, but the though of being like the people behind this scared her far more.
Khari smiled faintly at the brunetteâs reply, shaking her head. âDonât. You just caught me off guard is allâŠI didnât.. i didnât mean stop, idiot.â She answered, leaning in again and smirking against her lips.
Skye smiled against soft lips at the comment. Since they were already sat down, it was easy enough to push the hunter back until she was lying on the floor. âWe really gotta work on the name calling.â She mumbled with a smirk, deepening the kiss.
Khari had headed out of the vampireâs house while she was in the shower. It might have been two in the morning, but she really couldnât care less by this point, she just needed to get away from Alexa for a while. The huntress had always felt most at home in the forests surrounding the city, memories of weekends with her father playing across her mind as she walked. She slowed down as she picked up on a clumsily looking trail, realizing upon closer inspection as was blood in the mix and quickly trying to track it down. Now knowing what Karina did for fun, god only knew what else sheâd made. Of all the things Khari had been expecting to see, Skye on the floor struggling to move wasnât one of them, and all the air left her body in one crushing blow. âHoly fuck.â She breathed out shaky, soft tone as she crouched down next to her best friend. âShit.â She repeated in the same way, starting to hyperventilate slightly as she looked Skye over to try and work out how the hell she could help her. âWhatâve you got yourself into this time, twigs?â
When Skye first heard her voice, she figured she must have just been hallucinating. The odds of her best friend being out here in the first place were slim to non, let alone being the one to find her. Khari might not have been real, but that didnât stop her reaching out to the crouched form, grabbing at her jacket. âI was⊠l figured out the c-cells just, the eye pieces..I t-thought ifâŠif i could get âem out iâd..itâd..â She was cut off as she started coughing, feeling light-headed as the taste of blood fill her mouth. Â
âYou can work the register. Take special orders, answer the phones, clean tables.. Mitchellâs there helping out too, but he does more of the cleaning and repairs and such in the kitchen. So youâll get to hang out with him, if thatâs more of an incentiveâ Qhuinn smiled lightly. âAnd yeah, she did.. Sheâs worried about you Skye, figured some time out of here would help. And..the fact that she recommended me for this..well, I guess that proves to you that Iâm not an assholeâ She smirked a little, tilting her head as she watched Skye.
âSo iâll be like a waitress?â She asked, perking up a little at the mention of Mitchell working there too. It would be nice to spend some time with him again, even if it was very different from how they used to. âShe shouldnât be worrying about me... Sheâs the one claimed by that vampire bitch. But yeah, i guess it does.â The brunette smirked back. The job wasnât exactly one she was used to, but it had to be better than sitting down here doing nothing.
âJust stay away from me.â
âSome have better lives..I would say though in this city itâs far and few between..Itâs a layered compulsion..The main part is that Iâm forced into being absolutely addicted to my masterâs touch, and when Iâm away from it I suffer withdrawals almost like itâs a drug..The other is that I canât be touched by anyone else without it feeling as if Iâm being crushed to death.â
âThatâs really screwed up iâm sorry.â She replied. It was all she could think to say about that sort of compulsion, it must be awful. âSo whoâs this bastard of a master?âÂ
