Working on a holiday always makes me hate my job.
I can get so frustrated at family and friends who don’t understand that I work every single holiday and every single weekend. I feel like I miss out on so much fun and excitement. Usually, Corey and I just change the dates around so that we can celebrate together, but this year I switched a few shifts around so that a co-worker can have a dinner with her family, so I’m working her evenings instead of days. And I short shifted myself so that I work a day on Monday so that I get the time and a half.
Most of the women I have in my life right now either work nice office jobs from 8-4 or don’t work at all. Especially when it comes to Corey’s friends, as only 1 out of 8 works. They have stopped inviting me to events because they know that I can’t go, which is fine and all but it is still nice to get invited. I have a few nursing friends which I completely adore, they get that I might not always replay right away or be able to hangout on weekends.
The hospital has been crazy busy these days too, which makes it even worse because you always feel like you’re not doing a good job because you don’t have the time to.
