This a Moonmelon, scientifically knows as asidus. This fruit grows in some parts of Japan, and is known for its vibrant blue color. What you probably don’t know about this fruit is that it can switch flavors after you eat it. Everything sour will taste sweet, everything salty will taste bitter, and it gives water a strong orange-like taste. It’s also very expensive…costing about ￥16000 JPY (which is about 200 dollars).

Look at this set. Five of the eight hugs in the ‘82 set (one’s more of a three-way backslap, but still) are unashamedly about characters being glad to see each other and grateful to be together. Here? Not one. The closest we get, Sam and Flynn, is full of lost years and pain and desperation, and one of the two places in the movie where I invariably choke up (the other is “goodbye, kiddo”; you’re welcome). Up top, Flynn might as well be casually slinging his arm around a particularly satisfactory piece of office equipment (and don’t even talk to me about the reintegration, that’s Clu’s head disintegrating there after it turned inside out on the way across the gap YOU KNOW FOR THE KIDS). The last one? It counts from Quorra’s side, but Sam is still at the Portal watching his dad die.

What’s the matter with our media these days? How did we get to where characters don’t touch each other unless there’s shipping, unbearable longing, or death involved? I’m going to make a list of all the places where there should have been hugs in Legacy and weren’t, and then I’m going to sit there and glower at it and have feels, probably.
