Disney Reveals Bold 2026 Licensing Strategy Plans
Frozen” remains one of Disney's biggest franchises, and "Frozen 3" is on the horizon in 2027. How are you building excitement for the brand, from products to fan moments, leading up to the new film?
Frozen” has proven to be a powerhouse brand for Disney Consumer Products and is expected to be one of our largest efforts ever with strong execution planned across the entire Disney ecosystem– from new in-park experiences like Disneyland Paris’ World of Frozen to new film and streaming content. Our strategy continues to serve core fans with new show-to-shelf products tied to short form content, as well as expand to new demographics and categories. With over 10 years of content and more on the way, fans of the franchise span generations – girls who experienced the release of the original “Frozen” film are now young adults, girls who watched “Frozen 2” are now tweens and teens and so on. While our core girl audience is growing up, their love for the story remains unchanged. Therefore, our strategy is beginning to look at brands that resonate with older audiences like PANDORA, allowing young women to express their fandom in subtle, more sophisticated ways. “Frozen” Fan Fest in October has become a strong annual event for our fans to celebrate their love for the story and characters, with new product launches and digital content. We’re excited to kick off the countdown to “Frozen 3” with a new short this October, ahead of our biggest ever cross-company movie marketing campaign in 2027.

Official New Short Film this October | Breaking News
In a Licence Global article, Paul Gitter, the executive vice president, reveals Disney's licensing plans for 2026.

Our so-thought unrealistic wishes have come true!! They were listening!! A new Frozen short is officially releasing this year in October! I love how Frozen fan fest in annual tradition and something Disney is using wisely. We all wanted a short but never thought we'd get one since we're running up close to Frozen 3 but it looks like that's the perfect time to release a short movie! And if it's to kick off the promotion era of Frozen 3, maybe this short will give us some insight on what Frozen 3 could be about!
Frozen 3 is much bigger than we thought if they're gonna go all out in the promotion and calling it now, their “biggest ever cross-company movie marketing campaign in 2027”!! I don't want to get hopes up to an unrealistic point but this is definitely building the anticipation!! I don't think we're ready for thiss!!
Kinda left the Frozen fandom, but I'm super excited for the new October short!!!Resharing this drawing cause I still love elsamaren (I have a lot of doodle idea actually)
I drew it in November 2024, it's been a little while. I miss the time where everyone was yapping about lesbian Elsa
I really wanna draw them again. Praying Honeymaren is in the short, I miss her
Disney announced on February 13 that they will be releasing in October. I wonder if it will have a spooky theme since its releasing in October or some kind of prequel to Frozen 3. Might be more the latter since it was said it's to kick off a big Frozen 3 campaign. Will have to see.
(not me forgetting that i can't doodle animals to save my life and i still end up doodling them lmao)
I fear I’ll never stop thinking about them…
After the events of Frozen, Anna and Elsa want to start fresh in Arendelle, and make the castle feel a bit more comfortable. While they struggle to break free of the bounds of tradition, the Duke of Weselton has other plans for their beloved home alongside a flock of menacing puffins. LEGO Disney Frozen: Operation Puffins available only on Disney+ October 24.
Frozen 3 production officially begins “soon” | Breaking News | Latest Updates
We are almost there!! It's almost time for production to begin!!
In an interview with Variety, Kristen Bell, our beloved voice for Anna, says production for the third movie of the franchise will begin “soon”. She also mentions she hasn't heard any of the new songs but finally has seen the script for the movie!
“That’s all I can say. I’m under lock and key,..
It’s all mostly like concept stuff in the beginning like, ‘Here’s where we think it should go,'..
That’s the one great things about Disney is it goes through a thousand filters, not to be diplomatic, but because everyone’s going to add something different. That’s why the movies plays so well because they hit every single mark because nothing has been missed.”
So despite Bell having seen the script, the team is still in concept stages but soon will be going into production. So at long last the cast are being given a peak of the script! So far Josh Gad and Kristen Bell have as far as we know. But with production about to begin, Jonathan Groff and Idina Menzel are yet to see it too.
I always love it when people praise Disney because Disney does have some really good movies, however this time I feel like she's referring to how Disney is making sure Frozen 3 hits the “every single mark” she speaks of. Josh Gad has also praised the little bit of script he's seen and now Kristen has too so I'm sure it'll be a hit. Let shops when production begins, it goes as well as the pre-production stage.
Frozen content is coming back to us slowly! We recently had the Animals of Arendelle short in 2d stylised animation, and will soon be getting a Lego animated special short coming next Friday and now production is about to begin soon!
Frozen fans arise from your slumber, for the Frozen Queens are awakening! ❄️
SO CUTE?!??!?! AWWWWWWW THE WOLF AROUND HER NECK :'((( so cuteee....I love u elsa
Anna mentioned
Disney+ October Sizzle Reel featured a first look to the "LEGO Frozen: Operation Puffins" special.
The special brings Kristen Bell, Idina Menzel, Alan Tudyk reprising their iconic roles as Anna, Elsa and Duke of Weselton.
Frozen Fan Fest: Merch, Animals of Arendelle and Operation Puffins | News | Updates
Banner created by me
Frozen Fan Fest is back! This time with all new merch from Pandora jewelry, to mattel playsets. We also have a new art for the supposed Animals of Arendelle: Lost and Found short film and a reminder that a Lego Frozen special is set to come on Disney plus in just 21 days! All the official info is from Disney Parks Blog.
Animals of Arendelle a Short Film?
We've recently had a few doll sets and playsets that have revealed that we're getting another short form series called Animals of Arendelle: Lost and Found. But in the light of the announcement for a new Lego special, I thought the series was replaced with this but it turns out that they're both separate things.
Many of us remember Winter Festival right? We got a 2d animated episodes on YouTube of the gang celebrating the first days of winter. It was different but I really loved it. But unfortunately that series turned into stop motion doll shorts on YouTube. But based on the description of the Baby Sven care kit, it's a short film in the stylisation of a storybook and this cover below might just be what the sisters look like.
The description reads;
"INSPIRED BY the animal care theme in Disney’s new short film. Animals of Arendelle, Lost and Found is a newly imagined story from the world of Disney’s Frozen. It is the next chapter in the Off the Page Adventure series brought to you in a beautiful storybook stylization."
The cover looks so gorgeous and the sisters look stunning. Unsure whether this short film will be on Disney Plus or not but I assume so.
Lego Frozen Special
Not only do we have one short film, but two with this Lego Special. The Special is titled 'Lego Frozen Operation Puffins' and in a sizzle reel by Disney Plus, a new look at it is shown.
The special's adventure follows "After the events of Frozen, Anna and Elsa want to start fresh in Arendelle, and make the castle feel a bit more comfortable. While they struggle to break free of the bounds of tradition, the Duke of Weselton has other plans for their beloved home alongside a flock of menacing puffins.".
Idina Menzel, Kirsten Bell, Josh Gad and Alan Tudyk will reprise their respective roles as seen in Frozen.
More about the Lego Special when it was a announced, here.
Conclusion
So much to look forward to soon, and I'm glad we're getting a few shorts while we wait for Frozen 3 which is just over 2 years away, which isn't that long if you think about it. We could get some more F3 next year being the year before release.
It might be weird for a few that were getting pre Frozen 2 content but with the way Frozen 2 ended, it's hard to have the sisters on the same page. But at least we're really going to understand like really well the dynamic, the atmosphere, the feeling for the sisters post Frozen whether all this new stuff is canon or not. It's great to see Alan Tudyk back as the Duke of Weselton. He may have been a villain but was very iconic as a character. Can't say if this is a hint to his return in Frozen 3. I doubt it but let's see as we gear up to more Frozen content! ❄️
New Frozen story@disneykids on youtube
It's cute for a short but what's more interesting...
it's written by Marc Smith, who pitched the idea for Frozen 3 (and Frozen 4)
The Frozen 3 synopsis was all about "The royal family will soon welcome a mysterious new member".
Animals of Arendelle kinda feels like a prelude.
Elsa, Anna, Olaf and Kristoff becoming surrogate parents to baby animals before the "new member of the royal family" comes along
You ain't seen nothing yet, Olaf!
New Lego Frozen Special on Disney Plus | News
We finally have brand new Frozen content outside of the movies! In my previous post I mentioned that the Disney store description of a new Frozen toy set changed from Animals of Arendelle being a short form series to a short, still most likely about the sisters saving Animals of Arendelle. Now, I don't know if this concept has been changed into this Lego special or if it's an actual short coming up later but regardless what we have coming is still something new we can really enjoy to watch, with just over 2 years until Frozen 3.
Title, release, and other details
The short, titled 'Lego Frozen: Operation Puffins' will be in the form of a Lego animation like a previous Frozen special, 'Lego Frozen: Northern Lights' special series. Unfortunately, the northern lights one is not on Disney plus but since this new one is set to be released on Disney plus on October 24th, maybe the Northern Lights shirt will also be. It's unknown for sure why the Northern Lights Lego series was removed. Rumour has it that the licensing agreement between Disney and Lego expired or changed but if so, now that has been updated to give us a brand new series.
The original actors, Idina Menzel, Kristen Bell, Josh Gad and Alan Tudyk will be reprising their roles as Elsa, Anna, Olaf and the Duke of Weslton. Jonathan Groff as Kristoff will most likely return too.
I got the info from The Disney Beat and DTVA News who most likely got it from the Disney Press website, which reveals all the films and series slated to release next month, in October!
The plot for this new series goes as:
“After the events of Frozen, Anna and Elsa want to start fresh in Arendelle, and make the castle feel a bit more comfortable. While they struggle to break free of the bounds of tradition, the Duke of Weselton has other plans for their beloved home alongside a flock of menacing puffins. LEGO Disney Frozen: Operation Puffins starts streaming October 24 only on Disney+.”
Why after Frozen 1 and not Frozen 2?
So yes, it's set after Frozen, and before Frozen 2. A lot of content post Frozen 2 has been set after Frozen 1. The Winter Festival short-form series or episode rather, was originally thought it be set after Frozen 2 with the dolls having styles of F2 Epilogue Elsa and Anna, but it was set after Frozen 1, having that be their first winter festival celebration together since the gates reopened.
I mean there's a lot they can do with the sisters together, with the situation they were left at from the end of Frozen 1. Frozen 2 had the separated with newfound roles, so the adventures wouldn't always be together and Anna would be busy with Queen duties. Yes there are comics that feature stories set after Frozen 2, but I don't think they do well and probably confuse fans with Elsa's status as Queen/ Princess and where she lives, etc. But on a positive note, I do think Frozen 3 will definitely change the status of Frozen 2's ending. We need more content outside of the movies that focus on the after events of the movie, and I think now that we know Frozen 2's ending isn't the end of the franchise, more possibilities and grounds can be explored and changed for the better. Disney clearly knows that Frozen 1 gave us much more ground to explore with the sisters together and their firsts since the gates opened being explored, so hopefully Frozen 4 will be left off with open possibilities for adventures that can become specials and shorts.
But yes it's great to see new content for Frozen in general, especially in animation be it 3d or lego-fied. We all did say we wanted a short before Frozen 3 to keep us fed, so this seems like the perfect thing to do just that. And it's really nostalgic to have Alan Tudyk back as the Duke. He may be a villain but he was definitely iconic (just like Hans was and is!).
Lego Frozen Northern Lights was so fun and creative! It brought out so much humour from the characters and a new epic journey and nods to Frozen 1. I hope we do get more Lego Frozen specials content after Frozen 3/4. I'm just excited as a Frozen fan to see this! It's something fun and entertaining to watch and talk about while we wait for an even crazier epic journey in Frozen 3.
Honourable mention
Before I finish off this post, I just want to give a shout-out to the Anonymous who mentioned to me, in an Ask, about the tik tok video about a girl who was talking about a Frozen promotional material with puffins. This was probably it. Thank you for letting me know in advance even though I had no clue that it actually was something! Please do keep an eye out on that tik toker in case she reveals any other leaks and info.
Josh Gad continues to tease Frozen 3 as “worth the wait” | News/ Latest Updates
Finallyy an update in an interview in a while. I told you guys we'd get something sooner or later interview wise so allow me to break it down for you.
Here's the link if you want to read the article first but I'll be quoting his words in my breakdown.
Those hoping to see Olaf soon will need to be patient, as Josh Gad reveals he hasn't started work on Frozen 3 or 4 yet. Read on for more det
In an interview at TIFF (Toronto International Film Festival) to promote his new film, Adulthood, is still in pre production and far from finished;
"We have not started recording. We have not heard songs yet. I was lucky enough to get sort of a preview of what the movie is, and it's going to be worth the wait. It's pretty extraordinary what they're doing. Pretty extraordinary. For me, my whole thing was don't do a sequel unless there's a reason to do a sequel. If you have a story worth telling, then call us up and let's do it. To Jennifer Lee's credit, she really took that note and gave herself that note and has created something that's going to be worth the wait."
"[...] That is above my pay grade. I think the plan, what they've announced, is that there is a Frozen 3 and 4 in the works. The story that I've been kind of previewed is the grandest story we've ever done, so I anticipate it's going to be a little too much for one movie."
“[...] Well, when people see Olaf get assassinated, I think it's going to raise a lot of questions that are going to have to be answered."
After reading this, my excitement for Frozen 3 is incredibly high! It's like Universal's Wicked high! I have genuinely not been this excited for a movie for like years and Wicked was great and Frozen 3 sounds just as good, if not better! The words Gad uses, “worth the wait”, “Pretty extraordinary”, “don't do a sequel unless there's a reason to do a sequel” “grandest movie we've ever made”, should be enough to get the hype high! I mean of course I completely understand some are like we'll see when we get there and fair enough, I respect that but if Gad has seen little but enough to say it's that good then I'm sold.
Jennifer Lee has been credited by him and I stand by that. I know she's been getting a lot of hate/ discourse in these 5 years with Frozen 2 and her previous role as CCO of WDAS and I can understand why but, if she's made a movie that's worth telling in the story and has understood that time is what she needs for a good movie then she truly deserves the praise for listening to us and realising her mistakes! But of course, we must see what the movies like ourselves to understand Gad's words and how true they are.
I totally love that they've thought that, since the story is that big, they need to spread it out into another movie as a two - part movie like Universal's dine with Wicked/ Wicked: For Good. I've seen some movies that have a great story but still be criticized for having too much in one movie. So I'm excited to see the population for more thought and care into each scene and character arc.
Josh Gad's joke about Olaf being assassinated as a cliffhanger kind of suggests that Frozen 3 most likely will end with a cliffhanger that'll shock us as if Olaf was actually assassinated. I don't think he will because he's not allowed to give such a big spoiler to us anyway. And he reassures us that whatever questions were left with from Frozen 3, will get answered in Frozen 4.
Production?
As far as production goes, I understand the fear of getting it all done in time but I believe they can get it done within the 2 years they have left. I don't think recording takes that long though. I don't want them to rush it if it'll cause a mess to the story like Frozen 2, so I'd prefer they take their time if they want this story to be worth the wait.
Conclusion:
So, not much but still good enough. We now know that Gad has seen a small snippet of Frozen 3 that is apparently set in stone or not too far from the final, and is good enough to have such high praise from Josh Gad who believes that a sequel shouldn't be made unless it has a story worth telling. I believe that generally and I believe that with this. It might be an extra bit of cash grab but that's not the sole purpose of the reason for this sequel, being that it seemingly had the “grandest” story they've ever told. I mean my hype and anticipation is just building nsd I hope reading this breakdown slowly builds up yours.
Previous recent interviews I've broken down are from Jonathan Groff (our Kristoff), and Jared Bush (current CCO of WDAS) and Josh Gad a few months ago and just a couple of days ago.
Also a little appreciation for cast and crew/ WDAS team for the small but big updates they're giving us in these article interviews. Lately, the fandom has been dying from lack of Frozen 3 content or just anything new from the franchise in general but they're really trying to sell it to us and I believe they're lying. You can tell they're excited for this and for us to see this speculator movie. So, Frozen team, if you ever see this, thank you! ❄️
A Frozen 3 update from ECUST Press, who attended a Disney Consumer Products Showcase in China 🔥
Last night, a representative from ECUST Press was invited to attend a closed-door Disney Consumer Products kickoff event.
Afterwards, she shared a post on RedNote, revealing two key spoilers about Frozen 3:
There will be a grand wedding scene for Anna and Kristoff.
A new royal family member will be introduced.
Later, I reached out to her privately to ask for more details. She said she saw an image of a wedding invitation and a side profile of Anna and Kristoff kissing, along with a few other pictures collaged together—but unfortunately, she couldn’t remember them all clearly. She also mentioned that a short montage of Frozen 1 and 2 was shown, though none of it was very long.
Since photos and recordings weren’t allowed at the event, she couldn’t provide any images and could only describe what she saw in text.
Below are my private messages with her (all in Chinese so I just did a quick translation, and I already got her consent to share all the conversations and screenshots):
Below is part of a discussion some of us Frozen fans had after saw this "leaks":
For the wedding, the first thing that came to my mind when I saw the leak was the Engaging Anna and Kristoff story from the novel All Is Found. Maybe that storyline will actually come true.
The wedding invitation I edited for this story last year:
As for the wedding itself, it was kind of expected. But the “new royal family member” part is completely new to us. At first, we thought it might mean Anna and Kristoff’s child since getting married and then having a kid is the normal progression.
But then we discussed the possibility that it could be Anna and Elsa’s grandmother, Queen Rita. She only appears in some of the books, and she might not actually be dead, since Mari Mancusi, the author of Dangerous Secrets, once mentioned in the Agduna Discord server about five years ago that Queen Rita might still be alive.
And it might also be some new characters, like their cousin (maybe Rapunzel?), a Tangled–Frozen crossover hahah even though that’s impossible lol
Please keep in mind: although this was indeed an official event, it’s unclear which Disney staff member shared these spoilers.
And since Josh Gad recently mentioned that voice recording hasn’t even started yet, I personally feel the script is still being refined.
So with these sudden “leaks,” I can’t be sure how legit they are, just sharing this for reference.
Breaking news! Disney China’s official WeChat account (with the verified blue check) just posted confirming this! Omg I was originally 50-50, but now I’m like 80-20 😂
The translation:
"At the end of 2027, Frozen 3 will make its magical debut for fans around the world!
In this new chapter, witness Arendelle’s wedding of the century as Queen Anna walks down the aisle, then joins Elsa on a new magical journey filled with unknown challenges. And what’s even more exciting: the royal family is about to welcome a mysterious new member!"
Frozen comic that finally is not a repeat from the past. "A secret of hurricane" Anna has new friends, Elsa has trust issues and Forest Spirits have a beef with everyone. Last part in the next issue.
