Εμμένω.” She covers up the receiver and looks expectantly at the person in front of her. “Say something important sounding,” she says, holding the phone out.

Furrowing her eyebrows at her friend, Artemis looked up from the papers she was holding, deciding to play her game sighed heavily, “Athena come on, we need to attend the Brazilian's meeting now.”

“I know that, kid, I love you, I had hopes you’d already know this fact.” Sighing heavily the woman leant in the balcony, pressing her temples with the tip of her fingers. “I’m just tired of everyone telling me I should find someone for me, that’s all.”

Tim had a crush for Artemis before dating Berlioz. So when she tells him the three word phrase that he wanted to hear from her, he grins to himself; though the phrase meant something different to him now than he intended. “I do, it’s just that I don’t want you leaving this Earth alone and bitter. I do admire how independent you are, but it’s okay to have someone. Even if it’s not in a romantic way. And it doesn’t have to be with a man.”

Caught by surprise with his statement the brunette furrowed her eyebrows at him, "I'm not bitter. Besides I'm still really young, I have plenty of time to find someone, let me be concerned about it when I'm only 40. I'm not that independent, Timy, in fact I'm still dangerously soft. But you already knew that."

“And again I apologize for that.  I shouldn’t have dragged you into that mess.  Who’s telling you that?  Are people already bugging each other about Valentine’s Day?  That’s over a month away still.  Well you don’t need a boyfriend or girlfriend but you should have someone close to you that you can count on for support and comfort.  Not every relationship ends with a broken heart, sometimes you meet the right person and spend the rest of your life with them or if it does end it can end on a good note.   Right well at least be open to the idea, you might not need one but don’t guard your heart too much and push people away.”

“Yes, it is indeed, but the idea of love can ludibriate even the strongest among us,” the woman said nonchalantly without giving much thought about it. “I have my brother. He’s in Greece. I also have Timothy, he’s my little brother. Kind of. Anyway, I’m not pushing anyone, I just don’t have interest enough on anyone to pursue something. I’m not saying that like no one is good for me, no, love requires effort, from both side, it’s a commitment, and it seems like no one wants it with me, the feeling is mutual. I won’t suffer over someone who doesn’t even want me. love is supposed to be mutual. Since the both parts don’t want it here I am, rocking like a hurricane in the single ladies world.”

“You don’t need a lover to have love.” Belle reasoned, guilt settling into her joints as the woman continued to speak. “You’re right. A lot of what love is, isn’t healthy but. Old habits are hard to break. And I think love has such high expectations these days that many curse it’s name before giving it a proper chance. I’ve never been in love but I know I’ve felt it.” A rogue hand raked through brunette locks absent-mindedly. “I don’t think it’s right to generalise it in that way. Love is different for everybody who feels it. The same love is never felt twice.”

“I have lots of love in my life. From my brother, he’s probably my soulmate, whatever our souls are made, Apollo and mine are the same.” The concept of soul mates was different for the woman, the love of soul mates represented in her and her brother was the best way she could explain it, he’s the only person in the world that could understand her, even though Apollo has his companions more often than Artemis would like to admit, still the man would always find sometime to spend with her. Apart from him, there wasn’t a person in the world she could put a face on to say that everythin is prettier when in the present of this so called person. “ I just want people to stop meddling in my love life. I’m not worried about finding or no a man, or a woman, for me. So why others should be?”

Copper hesitated, but decided to ask anyways, hoping he wouldn’t step on anyone’s toes. “You never think you’ve been in love then?”  If she had - which he suspected - she may be angry at home for bringing it up.  He really liked hanging out with Artemis so he asked her again, “or you never see yourself with someone who could…make you feel that way?“

“Once, an infatuation, it didn’t last long.” The woman said simply without showing any signs of distress in admiting the story, after all, she was young and naive. The idea of love mesmerized her enough to resemble the forbidden fruit. “Sincerely? I don’t know, Dan, I’m certain this isn’t the way it works, I mean I can’t pick the person that perhaps will make me feel something -- anything at all. If what you say about romantic love.... Well, you make me happy, Timy, Adam, all of you guys make me happy. Besides the concept of ‘can’t live without each other love’ is somewhat.... Unhealthy for me... If the books are right, this isn’t love, is worshipping, and we need to love ourselves first, and then, we find it. This isn’t supposed to be simple, if it was there wouldn’t be divorce or breaks. I can’t just pick someone out of the blue and tell you that’s the person I see myself with. Can you?”

Love can take many forms. Love is hope. Love is kindness. Love is like religion. It keeps up going in our darkest times - if only we have the courage to believe it.”

Tilting her head to one side the woman listenes closely to her friend’s speechn her chin high, never backing down, as usual, yet not trying to defy Belle. “I do believe in platonic love, Belle, I just don’t think the romantic love ‘can’t -live-without-each-other-love is somewhat healthy, it sounds like you’re worshipping someone. Besides nowadays the word love is spreading in a nonsense perpective, everyone is uttering it without really feeling something as strong as love. I don’t want to willingly give my heart away for someone else, let it be guardaded by the jail of my ribs.” Her heart was always a wild and untamed thing, that’s why it’s tied in the cage of her bones, or at least that’s how Artemis saw herself.

“Don’t you think it would be nice if you left the gym a little more often?  You know got a nice change of scenery every once in a while,” Adam suggested shrugging.  “Right okay what happened to you recently?  You’re usually not this bitter.  I’m supposed to be the bitter one.”

“I do have that, especially when my friends try to use my skills with archery to harm someone without telling me first, nothing happened, I’m just tired of everyone saying I need to find a boyfriend/girlfriend, I’m good at being nothing to people. I just don’t feel comfortable being anyone’s girlfriend. People usually get hurt, and a broken heart is just beautiful in poetry, anything besides that it’s really, really painful. A heart is a heavy burden, and I’m not willing to transfer the responsability of mine to a random stranger I've never seen before, or even an old friend.”

“You’re insane,“ Copper had joined Artemis this afternoon, and he was determined to prove her wrong, again.  “Love isn’t a fantasy.  It seems like it sometimes, but the way you feel about someone isn’t just infatuation, it’s chemicals in your brain that are released and make you happy around someone, it’s not science or whatever.  Why are you so against it?“

“I just don’t believe that it can go beyond infatuation, that’s all, and when it does… Congratulations to all people involved, it’s just not for me.” The woman shrugged as she furrowed her eyebrows, “I’m happy when I’m around you, Daniel. I just am, love is definitely not for me. At least not romantic type.”

“I disagree,” she interrupted. “Love is as real as you are before me. It’s as genuine as sadness, or anger, or joy. Even hatred itself. It surrounds us every day, in everything we see, no matter how overlooked it remains. I dare say I feel it myself in every second that passes me by.” Wendy frowned. “And for you to rebuff it’s existence, I feel deeply sorry for you.”

“I do believe in love, the platonic one, and the one that engulf all things together, love should be the way we treat one another. I also do believie in soulmates, for me it has anything to do with romantic love.” The woman shrugged a bit, “ people are always looking for that passion that keeps their mind out of control, however that is not love, that is as I stated earlier passion, people even go as far as commiting stupid crimes for it. So yes, I dare say, we should stop going around looking for this romantic love, where I see couples fighting all day long, or women that endure being treated like shit because they are so called in love, when in fact this is almost like worshipping someone. So, if you do find true love, Wendy, I’d be incredibly happy for you, but I for one I'm resigned to the fate of not finding it.“
