Some closeups from my Misa piece. This one took so long to finish because I kept getting intimidated by the details with all the notes and newspaper scraps on Misa's wall and the field of roses. The lace of her tights and gloves was really fun and satisfying to do though!

Inspired by the series' chapter illustrations and the amount of Catholic iconography in Misa's bedroom and wardrobe (in the manga), I wanted to create a saintly Misa: mimicking Saint Lucy with her pose, lit by the halo of Sakura TV - a woman martyred for devotion to her vigilante god.

nothing makes me sad more than how misa is treated in the Fandom, I dont think we'll ever reach a point where she isnt boiled down into either "stupid bitch getting in between my yaoi" or "yass girlboss poor little angel did nothing wrong deserved better" camps.. in either case it feels like her being flattened down and side casted when she is already a very thought provoking character... my meow meow..

i completely understand why arc2 fandom tends to not care about light (and why light fandom tends to not care about arc2) but it does make me sad that the sheer comedy canon offers of 'haunted detective orphanage with a mortal god produces two geniuses with entwined pasts who are obsessed with each other. they are hunting down a 23 year old office worker' is often neglected. the 23 year old office worker is the main character and learned about the orphanage two seconds ago.

Sometimes I think about the irony that light such a femme fatale even though he's (gestures vaguely). all of his plans are literally "oh, I'll seduce so-and-so before brutally betraying them once they've outlived their use :] god women are so shallow and silly" and then the moment his plan can't use that (like with near) he's screaming and crying on the floor

Killing raye penber? seduce a woman to go on a date with.

killing naomi? gain her trust then discard her.

killing L? befriend him then discard him.

killing L? seduce a woman then discard her.

KILLING L? seduce a woman then discard her SHINIGAMI! the entire yotsuba arc revolves around this same premise as well!!!

"how should I get my fans to kill near?" gain their trust then manipulate/throw them at the wall. mikami? takada? the task force? take a BIG guess buddy. oops! all pawns!

And then mello and near show up, the ONLY two characters Light can't tide over and GUESS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN HE GOES AGAINST THEM!!! hint: fucking dies
