basically this is an alternate universe where mugman sacrifices himself to the devil to save cuphead and his friends, and since the devil has now witnessed these angelic powers he wants a big old handful of them and agreed. working under the devil mugman is still allowed to live w his brother and now cuphead has to live with a fallen version of his brother
