Today we remember the 49 lives lost and countless others forever changed on June 12, 2016, at Pulse nightclub in Orlando. What was meant to be a night of joy, music, and pride became one of unimaginable tragedy.
We honor the memory of those we lost—most of them young, queer, and Latinx—and we stand with the survivors, the families, and the community still healing.
Let this day be a reminder: queer joy is powerful, queer spaces are sacred, and love must always outshine hate.
REMEMBER THE 49 VICTIMS OF THE MASS SHOOTING ON JUNE 12th, 2016
49 people were murdered. 53 were injured. It was a "Latin Night" at Pulse. Most of the victims were Latino.
The Orlando, Florida, government is attempting to erase this hate crime. It happened not even a decade ago.
Overnight, the memorial was painted over and removed. https://www.wesh.com/article/pulse-rainbow-crosswalk-orlando-removed-overnight/65861732 + https://www.wesh.com/article/trump-memo-orlandos-rainbow-crosswalk-risk/65321855
"We are devastated to learn that overnight the state painted over the Pulse Memorial crosswalk on Orange Avenue," the mayor said.
A new directive from the Trump administration could threaten the rainbow crosswalk next to the Pulse Nightclub in Orlando.
If you'd like to join me, I will be pinning the white background image of the victim's names to my shirt tomorrow.
Alternatively, write "49" , "Pulse" , or "June 12 2016" (or smth similar) on your hands or arms.
Be LOUD be PUBLIC
This is the doing of Trump, Vance, DeSantis, Duffy, and everyone who supports them.
found out one of the victims was doing a similar job to what i do, and had been from my state. RIP enrique & the other 48. 4 days late but it will always be such a tragedy.
"Ilya always did feel good with Hollander. He didn't want to say it was better than it was with anyone else, but it was... different. And not only because Hollander was a man."
As many people may or may not know, a few days ago, we witnessed the death of a legend. Ozzy Osbourne, legend of Rock Music, Singer for Black Sabbath, the Prince of Darkness, died on July 22nd, just weeks after retiring. This announcement made me cry, since I am a little unstable when it comes to music fandoms, so here are a few ideas on celebrating his memory!
Make bat shaped sugar cookies and specifically bite off their heads before eating the rest of them.
Watch Trolls 2 (He voiced King Thrash and Crazy Train is featured in the film)
Musicians out there, learn Mama I'm Coming Home on your instrument, play it, and cry :)
Do your research on his life, cause he was actually a really cool guy, and a great ally.
Anyways, take care of yourselves out there, anyone who reads this. Truly my condolences to the world and to his
I had some time to process his loss, and I think I'm ready to express all I think.
I wouldn’t have called myself a die-hard fan, but Ozzy’s music, both solo and with Black Sabbath, was always something I appreciated deeply. There was something raw and powerful in his sound that stuck with me. It wasn’t just music. It was catharsis, rebellion, survival.
Ozzy touched more lives than he probably ever knew. Through the chaos, the fame, and his personal battles, he kept showing up. He stood tall, still singing. And that mattered.
The world feels a bit emptier without him now. But he’s not completely gone. Not really. Because every time someone presses play and lets his voice be heard through their speakers, a bit of him lives again. His art still pulses in our veins, keeping him very much alive in spirit.
So thank you, Ozzy. For the music, the honesty, and the fight.
