I got a nearly conspiracy theory, that part of this hate (not just disliking, but HATE) towards Heimdall is because he is a gay awakening for some of these right-wingy-no-woman-in-my-games-bros.

Everything Heimdall said about Atreus is a reflection of himself. The whole "I protect the realm I love from trouble. And I can already see that you are eager to prove yourself. Way to eager. Probably due to an overshadowing father figure you can never live up to. I will also guess that you are.. Disrespect. Entitled and impulsive." Like that whole thing, he knew those words deep down reflected himself but he can't bring himself to admit it.

Heimdall is cruel. He is bitter and angry. But he does truly love his home and does worship Odin. People often forget the fact that Heimdall sees everything. Even things he doesn't want to see. Hes had to lie to Odin in order to please him or protect himself. He tells Odin what he wants to hear most of the time, I hopes that Odin will be proud of him. He thinks of himself as so high and mighty because he wishes to prove himself to Odin. Which is why he took on Kratos, thinking if he beat Kratos, the realm would he safe and Odin would finally be proud of him. Try living with a father like that, whom only uses his children to do his dirty work and treats them as assets, and see if you'd be this happy and jolly person.

But as for the last part, I think I'd be okay with both 💀
