“I’ve sought approval from my family and friends my whole life up until about three years ago. But it took today for it to hit and make me understand what I was doing in my mind all these years

No one told me that I needed to step up and get a job and get my own place and car. In the same way no one told me to stay friends and help people when I felt it was needed.

These are all the surface level ideas that anyone can look at and say “yea me too I get it”… especially in your thirties (me currently)

But the bigger picture I saw was that I had structured my entire life around these ideas from me as a child. Dude I could literally go buy a house without telling anyone, and life continues unphased… I have the power to control my life at this age, to make any decision I want with no one that can stop me. No one to judge me. And no one to congratulate me for a job well done. I am the only one who gets the satisfaction or dissatisfaction from my choices from here on out. Does that make sense?

So what I’m getting at is that right now, we are in the position to become more powerful than we’ve ever been. If you have the option to make choices that only effect you, what would they be? Because it’s just you and your own journey. And the journey DOES end.”
