"would you like to see my toy collection?" words blurted out the moment she got into her car. he really didn't know how to keep the night going. it was nice; she was nice. he was just painfully awkward with stuff like this. it probably sounded stupid, and he was overthinking it again. this was a bad idea. really bad idea. why did he ask her when she was already starting to leave? "would you like to see my toy collection?" he repeated himself the moment she rolled the window. great, howie. way to keep it vague. now shes probably thinking of some weird sex toy collection.
She knew he would come up with that card. ''I just want you to be happy'' sounded like absolute bullshit to her. Did he know how miserable her life was before that anyway? Even with all the bad sides, being with him had become something she got accustomed to. More than that. She enjoyed being by his side, and although she talked more than him, it didn't mean she was open about her feelings that much. ''I know you're more muscles than brain, but I didn't think you were so dumb.'' At that point Megan sounded more annoyed than hurt. She started to wonder if it was just an excuse because he had grown tired of her. Why wouldn't he? ''I mean, you don't have to come up with this crap if you don't feel like having me around anymore.'' Her words sounded bitter, as if she had just closed off one more time with him. The can was thrown in a trash can on the way to the cheap hotel they were staying at. Her step hastened as if it was a way to avoid that conversation for longer. Maybe her departure was long overdue. The mood that was there earlier, with chatting and laughing, disappeared.
"right," he exclaimed, nodding as if that would hide the bitterness under his tone. she wasn't wrong, but it didn't mean she had the right to say it. they had their fair share of arguments and disagreements over the time they've known each other, but in some ways it was her way of keeping him in check. was it a good thing that he mellowed out across the years because of her? some say he got soft, whether it was the age catching up to him or because of her. there was a time when he didn't hesitate to grab the nearest thing to throw at someone if they looked at him weird or said something he didn't like. having her around might've been the best thing that ever happened to him after his family passed away, but this was no life to live for a girl like her. in his mind, he saw this as some sort of out for her to have a good life. a normal life. "hey—wait!" he saw the way megan was pacing faster, and he hastened himself, enough to where he could catch the door before she could enter their room. "don't give me the fucking cold shoulder, megan. is that what you think?? you think i don't want you around?" he had to catch his breath for a moment to gather his thoughts. "let me ask you something. you think living like this is good? going back and forth, running the tab on motel bills because we got nowhere else to be? is it fun to you running around taking money to hurt bad people?"
open to: f/nb connection: any (30+) plot: andrea decided to go to a club to have some fun and get drunk, but he's just now realizing how bad an idea this is.
it was a fun night, but he knew when he had to draw the line. "i'll be honest with you, dear. it has been nice talking to you, but i really shouldn't be here. i should be home. asleep on the couch with the tv turned on all night. it was always wrong the moment i stepped foot inside here."
❝ i love you, yun. ❞ his confession was only a faint whisper, but nothing else was needed. he'd gotten closer as she pulled away. it was clear that he craved touch, not anyone else's but hers. that body was, after all, his favorite instrument & he loved how it could tell stories when words seemed to fail him. ❝ i love you, yun, ❞ yet another whisper as she comes undone in her rant, which he was only half invested in. ❝ i love you, yun. ❞ the man was used to offering parts of himself & calling it a gift. but hyunjin knew exactly what he would miss about boyun were she to decide this affection had no future. he knew what he wanted and the things he couldn’t have.
❝ when we visited my old nanny, you said it was like meeting my mom because you knew that’s what she tried to be. you played all day with her grandchildren and helped her cook even though you didn’t have to, and i just thought, how nice would it be, right ? a small house somewhere close to the sea. our friends visit on the weekends, and it’s me and you. ❞ a gentle grin graced angelic features & his eyes were locked into the other’s caramel orbs as if trying to see past her soul. if only he had been left with his mother’s gift to see beyond the facade, the fear, the desperation. ❝ i never had any of that. and i always thought, how nice would it be to have it forever ? ❞ humorless laugh — yes, he had a bad habit. make fun of it until it doesn’t hurt. smile so they won’t see that it’s killing you. ❝ so if you want to leave, please do it now. if you wait, it will just hurt more. ❞
her words processed faster than her thoughts could that she was too stunned to even process what he tried to say over her loud vent. only when he mentioned the day she went with him to visit his nanny did she seem to calm down and actually listen. it was a calming and sweet memory for her, even if it was a simple one. but the most beautiful memories came from the most simple, tender ones. it was nothing special to her; she just tended to the kitchen and played with the kids as if they were her own. every child deserves love and affection. boyun was still trying to process where he was going with all of this when she was practically barfing her entire heart out moments ago. but why did all of this feel like some sort of proposal to her? deep inhales and exhales continued to escape out of her as she caught her own breath, tears drying on her cheek as she blinked at him. "did you say you love me?" was all she could manage to mumble out.
eunjin could feel his smile on her long before she realized why he looked at her that way. glancing down at her fingers for a moment, she flexed them slightly. had she really just done that? she had known him for all of two minutes and had already crossed a line, albeit unintentionally. but if his wide grin was any indication, sam didn't mind. at least he didn't take offence. nevertheless, eunjin would be a lot more careful moving forward. friendly enough, but no closer than two people who worked together should be. she balled her hands into fists and rested them on her thighs, resolved to keeping her hands to herself for the rest of the drive and thankful for the hair that framed her face, a curtain drawn over her pink cheeks.
frowning a little in thought, she seriously considered his question. "i did help out at a garage once, but it was mostly front desk duties." it hadn't lasted long, the owner turned out to be quite the creep. but eunjin decided not to divulge those details. "i picked up a few things, but you probably shouldn't rely on me in an emergency. i could change a tire under pressure, but my knowledge is limited to maintenance." she decided it was best to be honest. while her resume looked impressive, there were still plenty of things eunjin knew nothing about, things she wasn't good at. "if we get stranded, i'm sure there's enough experience between the two of us to figure something out."
like you. it was a passing comment, but it warmed eunjin in an unfamiliar way. she'd met people from all walks of life since running away from home, but no one could understand why she made the choices she did. not until now, until sam. "i did some reading, since i'll be here for awhile. the population is a lot older, isn't it?" she glanced in his direction at just the right moment, catching his eye before he turned back to the road. "i was born in a beach town too. it was filled with young families of labourers and fishermen, but it was still the younger generation's responsibility to take care of the elders. my mother said it was a privilege, since they helped raise us. but it must be hard, right?"a pause. she wasn't sure if it was appropriate to ask what was on her mind, so she tread carefully. "do you have a family? you know, a wife. someone to take care of you while you take care of everyone else?"
it sounded like she had some experience, even if he was saying it generously; it was better than nothing, but he wouldn't fault or judge over something small if she was willing to learn and add more to her belt. everyone had to start from somewhere. if she planned to stay long enough and they came across issues, he'd just need to teach her so she could be a better help for next time or wherever else life takes her. like she said, if they managed to get stranded, they'll just have to figure it out together, as a team. it was a good outlook. "oh?" sam's eyes seemed to light up more than it should. partly from being impressed and surprised, all at once. "you definitely read it right. expect plenty of people in their 50s and 60s. think of it as a sort of retirement community, but just don't bring it up," he teases a little with a small grin. it only made him more curious why eunjin chose here out of all places to stay. she was a rare breed. many kids who grew up here decided it was better to leave than stay to find better opportunities. but what did she see in a lonely village town? one that offered very little other than beautiful views, and peace and quiet. "how long do you plan to stay here, if i may ask?" he asked, turning to look over to her periodically. making sure to not linger too much because he had to stay focused on the road. "no, it's just me. its why i can afford to leave days on end with this job. my mother passed away many years ago, so it's just been me and myself ever since." he gently waves it off as a good thing, hoping she wouldn't worry too much or be sad for him. "work keeps me too busy to ever think about having a dating life."
“i am glad that my assumption is correct then” because that served as a platform for his ego to be slightly elevated higher than before so he smiled as he took a swig on his drink. “you can take it however you want it miss nam” is he flirting? could be if his profession of admiration could be viewed that way then why not? they are always meeting each other at place like this so it is only matter of time that their conversation delves something deeper. “why? did i manage to start something? what if i am flirting with you?”
get ahold of yourself, you nervous wreck. chaeyoung swears her tick will act up if he keeps it up. she wasn't normally this nervous around anyone, but it seemed he was good at pushing buttons. "—might i remind you, we share a strictly and purely professional relationship. it'll be horribly complicate things between our clients and us." though the thought of someone liking or even having a crush flattered her. oddly for someone who lives and breathes the wedding business, where it was nothing but love. her love life has been nothing but a streak of dry seasons. but the difference was that she didn't try for a relationship. "anyways, don't you have architecture business to handle, mr. shin?" she waves and rotates her finger around as if to get her point across. "instead of flirting with your work wife," chaeyoung flashes a playful glare towards jaejin before taking her leave with her folder.
open to: m connection: any plot: its the first time boyun genuinely likes someone and she's doesn't know how to deal with herself
"i thought i learned to be alone and happy, i was content with what i had, but why is it every time i am with you. i feel happy, but scared to be around you? i should be excited when i like someone..."
"Oh? So far from what I have seen everything you have done just shows that you are so well-attuned with perfection, that is all I am saying or is that all an act?" But it would not surprise Jaejin if it is so considering the nature of her job. "What to do" He chuckled under his breath as soon as he felt the pat on his arm, "I love surprises. I might just want to see it myself"
that was the beauty of planning. weddings were meant to be perfect, and so should the organizer. she oozed with confidence when everything went to plan. but could he read through her? her smile faded a little. chaeyoung wanted to grab her folder to shield his eyes. the familiar itch lingered between her fingers. "y-you're right to assume that." she hesitated a little. most people were so occupied with themselves to ever really focus on her, especially when it was their special day. but jaejin?—why was she nervous? he clearly had a death wish then. "are you flirting with me, mr. shin?" or was she overthinking all of this? she genuinely couldn't decide. normally, she'd just smile and laugh at the comment, but they were far from strangers.
muse: shin jaejin open: anyone (m/f/nb)
"Sometimes I do wonder what goes through your mind" He prefaces the question with a tone is dipped in amusement, a smile that is for show "It feels like there is no worry and consideration going through your head and I am absolutely jealous"
she absolutely hated being put on the spot, even if her job required her to be social. chaeyoung had grown acquainted with him due to the various jobs that required them to work together. it was just a mutual contact, or was it? "oh, that is a wish you should wish you never saw. believe me." she patted his arm. "the less you know about me, the better, because i might just surprise you."

GONG YOO as HAN JEONG-WON THE TRUNK (2024)
“Yes, we were supposed to meet here. I guess we just got a rain check. He probably forgot to let us know.” She wanted to just say he clearly se them up there, for whatever reason he had in his peanut sized brain. It was weird trying to act as if they were mere acquaintances when in reality they shared a story together. They were younger, but it was all so intense that it was almost physically painful to keep a straight face while her mind flooded with thoughts of them. Of a different time. Different Bada. Seeing him was both comforting and unsettling. Sitting in front of Donghyeon as if it was a date brought even more memories to her mind. Difficult to forget. “I’m doing alright.” The fact she was back to the town was actually an indication she was, in fact, not doing alright. Overly stressed, her health took damage from it. “You make even rug look good, don’t act like you don’t know that.” She joked with that serious face of hers that was always difficult to know if she was being playful or not. “I arrived yesterday. Still getting used to things here and how they changed although some others seem to be just the same way from the day I left…” You’re one of them. You sure got older, but I feel like you’re still the same person. That she only said in her mind as if her eyes scanned through the menu, making her order as soon as the waiter got closer. “How about you? You have been living here all these years?”
"rain check, right." eyes rolling just slightly. "i'm sure he forgot to check his phone also. i'm guessing if you tried calling, it'll immediately go to voice message." of course, donghyeon knew there was something fishy when jihoon wasn't picking up his phone if he was running late. wasn't like him, but he guessed roping them into a sort of blind date was the plan all along. he was glad that at least both of them were on the same page. its just that the situation wasn't exactly the most ideal for the two of them to meet. so many years had gone by, yet what was he supposed to share with her? he was left with dots in his head. at one point, he loved her more than anything in the world. his heart probably still did, but it was too much to process now. "i mean, i just threw on whatever was most convenient and closest. he didn't really give me much of a choice. i could maybe use a haircut too. its getting a little long. you're probably used to seeing me with shorter hair. but the newer look suits you." it was pleasant and elegant seeing her with shorter hair. high-status lady, donghyeon thought to himself. he didn't know whether he should be relieved to hear she had come recently. was she going to see him eventually if it weren't for jihoon setting them up? a call even? he ordered with her before handing the waiter the menu. "i never left. maybe travelled a little for a year or two, but i always come back. nothing beats home." a little bittersweet because of how many memories it carried. "it's funny you brought up rugs because i started to sell them at the store. it's supposedly really compliments the coffee tables i make." carpentry. some things truly never did change. what started out as a hobby, turned into a living. "how was seoul? or did you move around?"
open to: m connection: co-star, actor, crew plot: y/m got fired off the set, but iseul had grown a little attached to let that happen
anyone could get fired for anything these days, yet it seemed she was immune to such a thing because her entire existence was a brand in itself. iseul was known to be very secretive, closed off, brash, and terribly difficult to work with. yet people continued to want to work with her. its a funny world. she had to run to him before he got too far. "...you aren't dispensable—i just wanted you to know that." iseul tried hard to not roll her own eyes. not at him, but at herself. "whatever manager kim said to you, ignore it because i said so. can you do that?"
