Went to purchase a rat at Pet Club on Snell Ave in San Jose and had a very sad experience. There was a mom rat in a cage with different stages of offspring. She was breathing heavily and her eyes were glossed over. Her babies were all able to be sold so I asked if I could purchase her. I am a veterinary technician and could try to give her treatment or humanely euthanize her. They told me it was a liability for me to take her because she was "on her way out". I asked if they were going to move her away from all her babies jumping on her while she was dying and they told me no. They let her sit there was jagged breaths getting stepped on by at least 10 other rats at one point and told me she would die in there. It doesn't matter if you are a feeder rat or a dog or a human, treat all things with love and care. Very sad and angry that I saw this and so did the little girl who followed me into the room to check out the rats. Close your eyes and think of yourself in a body of water. The water is all around you. It's touching you, caressing you, you feel it in your fingers and toes. The water soaking into your well done up hair you tried so hard not to get wet. Now replace that water with air. The air is touching you, caressing you, you feel it in your finger tips and toes. You can actually kind of see the air even though it's invisible. You can see it lightly surrounding your body, encompassing all that you are. You breath it in and it floods you, this air. It brings life into all of your cells so your body can keep moving. So your liver cells can keep being liver cells and your heart cells can keep being heart cells. Without this precious air you would be dead.. When you've closed your eyes and thought of all this, keep this thought in your head. How grateful we can be just for the air itself.
