the world wasnāt ready for his talent or honesty
I have so many questions
In the name of everything decent in this world, you have got to turn the sound on.
Matilda (1996), dir. Danny DeVito
hold up Danny DeVito directed the most influential film of my childhood?
Not only directed it but starred in it, took care of Mara Wilson (Matilda) while her mother was in hospital with cancer and even managed to get an advanced copy of the movie for her to watch before she succumbed to her illness. The man is a treasure.
The best story Iāve heard about the production of Matilda was:Ā
The scene where Matilda was dancing around her living room making things fly around to the songĀ āLittle Bitty Pretty Oneā was very nerve-wracking for Mara. She told Danny that she was anxious to do the scene, and he said,Ā āYou know why? Because youāre the only one dancing! We just have to have everyone else dance too! Then it wonāt be scary!āĀ
So everyoneāthe crew, the rest of the cast, the people at the craft services table, everyoneādanced along with the song, at Dannyās insistence. Apparently the only one who wasnāt doing the full on dance was the camera man, who just did a foot shuffle so the camera wouldnāt jiggle.Ā
If thatās not the sweetest thing ever I donāt know what is.Ā
Hey so I know there is so much bad stuff going on rn with the Amazon and people trying to use the Spiderman stuff to take attention away from it, but over the past week The Florida Aquarium in Tampa has been able to successfully help coral reproduce in a lab. Which is amazing news because this ciuld literally help our oceans with the rising temperatures and bleaching of the corals. This could help bring back native corals and help our oceans thrive again.
A link for anyone interested in reading about it!
may you get a sign this week that shows you that youāre on the right path and that things are flowing and moving in your favor. may the sign be evident, clear, and direct
honestly

please make sure that wherever youāre at in life, you donāt treat it like a transitory period. donāt waste your college years wishing to already be graduated & have a job. donāt waste your single years wishing for someone to be in love with. if/when those things come, they will come in due time and they will be good. but there is nothing like looking back and feeling empty because you wasted literal years ignoring what you had because you were hoping for something better. while itās important to better yourself and reach for your goals, donāt neglect the present because thatās where you are now and itās your now that determines your future.Ā
when you listen to music from the 70s and 80s
Imagine yourself.
You are 14. You want to try dating. You wouldnāt want to date an 11 year old though, right? No, no way. You want someone your age!
At 15, an 11 year old is out of the question! Thatās just silly. Even 12 is too littleā you might even have a younger sibling that age. Gross!
At 16, would you date someone who is 13? (a middle schooler). You wouldnāt, right? As a high schooler, 13 is just a baby.
This phenomenon is NOT lost on adults. Take it from someone who IS one. Ā As an adult, anyone who is a teenager is a child to us. This is not meant to be condescending; adults see teenagers as people who have growing to do. People who are so much younger, immature even. Small like a younger sibling who needs protecting. If you are underage, and an adult tells you that they see you as an adult and are attracted to you because of it, THIS IS A LIE. They see you as a child. If an adult tells you that they see you, who is underage, as an adult, stay away. That person is attracted to children. That person is a pedophile.
Iām the kinda person that if you ever meant something to me, Iāll always kinda care for you. Not in a weird way like I havenāt moved on or Iām not over it; but from a distance, I truly wish you happiness. Even if we never speak again, even if I have to cut you off for my own sake, even if time or distance or life circumstances separates us, no matter what happens⦠I hope you find happiness, peace and success. Even if we never talk again, Iāll always wish that for you.
The Pride.
Shout out to all my straight sisters Iām so sorry š
Jesus, leave his ass.
We learn fast to be very kind and attentive, tho.
My mom, who got her degree in Marriage and Family Counseling when she was 60, says studies show that women will sometimes sometimes leave a long term relationship to live on their own for a while before seeking a new relationship, but men will almost never leave a long term relationship without having a new relationship either in progress or just beginning.Ā They donāt want to give up the caretaker they have without another one on deck or in the wings.
This is so sad
This isnt cute or quirky. This means hes a fucking hopeless user
Please date a man who actually acts like an adult.
Ok I lived with my ex for 2 years and he literally wouldnāt be able to get his own food if I wasnāt at home, Iād get home from work and heād be angry at me for āmaking him starveā
My current partner has lived on his own for 8 years and the absolute most I have to help him with is maybe sending him $20 so he can make a bill payment on time
It made me realise for 2-4 years I wasnāt a girlfriend I was a fucking mother
Men who have been independent are capable of reverting if given the slightest excuse. When we married, my ex husband was 10 years older than me and had lived on his own for 8ish years. Yet (and I allowed this until I finally got fed up and took us to counseling) I did 80% of the cooking, because I was better at it. Same with the cleaning, shopping, social planning, etc.
After I left, in the first six months I got texts or calls asking me to please tell him:
The online banking password (dude, I left you, you should really change that)
Where I ordered his special-wecial organic underwear
Where the good cutting board was (my dad gave it to us at our wedding, genius, I took it with me along with the rest of the stuff from my family)
What brand butter we bought
What brand of local kielbasa we bought
Who his doctor was
What RMV office had the shortest lines
Where the old tax returns were (in the fucking box labeled tax returns)
The phone number for his best friend
I shit you not.
Then he had a heart attack (mild) and none of his family or friends were around to take him to the hospital. But instead of calling 911, he called me, who by then lived 45 minutes away. He lived 5 minutes from an EMS dispatch location. He called me, despite the fact that he didnāt believe me 8 months prior when I was feeling suicidal and I had to call a cab to go alone to check myself into the hospital for a 72-hour hold. I told him to call 911, hung up on him when he whined about āmaking a fussā, called 911, called his siblings and then texted them āyour brother is having a heart attack, I called 911 for him, come home,ā and washed my hands of it.
Emotionally vacant men who wonāt do household labor or emotional labor are not Nazis, but they arenāt good people, either, and you donāt have to put up with their shit.
Millennial women of Tumblr, please read this post.
And then please: make the decision for yourself to never stay with a man who expects you to be his mother and servant.
Notice that disabled men who live with their mothers as adults are labeled as failures and burdens, but itās socially acceptable for abled men to expect their wives to act like mothers.
