“Tobi’s not on the phone!” || M.Burtwistle
Summary: Based on the aftermath of the dodgeball stream.
Morgan was driving back to the house after the dodgeball IRL, Tays, Jakey, Beano and cameraman Chazza crammed into the car with him.
Music blasted through the speakers from his Spotify playlist while Jakey tried to send everyone’s Domino’s order to Ellie before she called for the fifth time.
She was terrifying when she was hangry. Morgan just wanted to get home and see you. You’d spent the day with Ellie, and Katie once her train got in from Essex. He hadn’t seen you once.
“Why don’t we get a chinese instead Jakey?” Morgan asked glancing over his shoulder.
“I do want a chinese ya know. But Ellie’s paying.”
“Nah fuck it off we’ll just get a chinese, if you order it now it’ll be there when we get home!”
Before Jakey could reply, CarPlay lit up.
Incoming call from future Mrs Burtwistle ❤️
The boys immediately burst into giggles, Morgan quickly told them to shut the fuck up before answering you.
“Alright love? You’re live on stream by the way” The three boys hadn’t stopped arguing over each other in the back. “I know, I’m watching dickhead” you both barked out a laugh at that. “Sooooooo… you gonna get chinese then?”
“You want one like?” His elbow pulled down with a smug smirk.
“Thinking about it now, shall I order our usual?”
“Yeah can do, just use my card yeah?” He replied.
“Obviously. Why would I use my own money when I’m dating a millionaire?”
“I knew you were lying, bro!” Tays shouted.
Morgan narrowed his eyes at the camera, dragging his hand across his neck to signal Chazza to cut it. Quickly he shushed you, your cheeky giggles coming through the car harder.
“Look well fit tonight by the way, you can wrap your hand around my neck when you get home if you want” And then quickly hung up on him as he started blushing on stream.
Morgan sat frozen for a solid three seconds, buffering in 4K while the car erupted into laughter. His mouth opened. Closed. Opened again - absolutely nothing loading behind his eyes.
“Beano do you want to come sleep in my room tonight? Because clearly everyone else in the house is cracking!” Tays turned toward Beano, humour seeping through his tone.
“Aye. We’ll have to sleep downstairs. I’ll have Jakey and Ellies bed creaking next door to me, him clearly choking out his Mrs across the hall and that hippo banging above me. I’m never gonna be able to sleep.” He dropped head onto Tays’ shoulder fake crying for the content.
“Erm, watch your mouth mate,” Morgan snapped back to him. “Sooo, this songs shit… Jakey want to pick a song?” After a song competition where the chat decided Beano had the best music taste the boys arrived home.
Heading straight to the kitchen, making a joke about the women being pointless cause it was still a mess.
“Bottled it there Ginge mate,” Tays baited him as they leaned against the kitchen counter.
“What you on about mate.” Morgan’s face screwed up in his direction.
“With katie, thought yous had serious beef?” Tays chuckled, one arm clutching his belly. “I’ll help you out mate!” He patted your boyfriend’s arm before shouting Katie to come into the kitchen. Upon hearing her footsteps Morgan went to hide under the bench out of sight of the cockney girl. Charlie made his way in with Katie, Ellie and yourself. Wondering why Tays was calling for his girlfriend.
“Hiya Katie, just Morgan wanted to introduce himself. He’s just down there.” Tays gestured towards your boyfriend’s hiding space, who once realised he was betrayed jumped to his feet and introduced himself and hugged her in greeting before glaring at his friend once his back was to Katie.
On the other side of the kitchen Ellie and Jakey were chasing each other over something, you had no idea, the three other boys were mumbling incoherently to each other and you and katie just stood awkwardly in the centre of it all like spare parts.
“Oh it’s Tobi!” Morgan exclaimed, bringing his phone up to his ear and manoeuvering his way between the collection of bodies out of the kitchen. “Hey Tobi mate, yeah I can play clubs with you, yeah I can play no worries mate!”
“Is that Tobi? Hi Tobi it’s me Jakey, I can play clubs with you Tobi!” Jakey ran after Morgan up to his streaming room. Completely ignoring Ellie’s shouts of ‘You’re fucking not Jake!’
“You hopping on clubs yeah jakey? Come on in!” Morgan rolled his eyes dropping his phone on the floor as he went to put it on his shelf.
“Oh no! Tobi!” Jake exclaimed bending to pick up the phone. “Tobi! You still there Tobi!”
“Tobi’s not on the phone!”
“Then why did you come upstairs saying you were playing clubs with Tobi? Is he not playing clubs then?”
“No, Tobi probably will play clubs later on.” Morgan replied, laughing at Jakey’s stupidity.
“Right okay then, when you playing clubs Tobi?” Jakey was shouting into Morgan’s phone before it got snatched from his hand.
“TOBI’S NOT ON THE PHONE!”
“Why did you come up pretending to be on the phone to Tobi then? Wha- what, why, what did you. I don’t get it.” Jakey stuttered out forcing a bark of laughter from Morgan.
“Because it was awkward down there, with katie. Tays made me introduce myself in a really awkward way. Tobi’s not on the phone.” Morgan grumbled out.
“Yeah well I’ve got to go spend time with my girlfriend.” Jakey made a choking gesture with his hands sticking his tongue out causing Morgan to let out a bark of laughter.
“Why don’t you just hop on clubs for a bit?” Morgan pointed his thumb behind him to Jakey’s room.
“I want to, I want to sit on with you guys but -“ Chazza and Tays made their way into the room interrupting the conversation. “NO GINGE I WONT PLAY CLUBS WITH YOU!” Jakey shouted out the open door.
Morgan quickly picked up his phone, putting it back to his ear. “Yeah no worries Tobi I’ll hop on now yeah” and put his phone back down. “Was just Tobi on the phone there.” he smiled gesturing to his phone. “IM SPENDING TIME WITH MY GIRLFRIEND FOR A CHANGE I SPEND ENOUGH TIME WITH YOU LADS” Jakey finished, his and Morgan’s sentences jumbling over each other.
Chazza made his way up to the streaming camera, “Are they being disrespectful chat?”
Ellie could be heard shouting back at Jakey up the stairs. ‘For a fucking change.’ “YEAH THATS RIGHT - I SPEND TOO MUCH TIME WITH YOU GUYS AND NOT ENOUGH TIME WITH HER”
“- But you’ve said she’s being bitch.” Tays shouted. By the time they’d finished speaking you and Ellie had appeared in the doorway.
“Ellie these lot are trying to get me to go on clubs but I just want to spend time with you.” Jake spoke towards his girlfriend.
“Then come spend time with me then!” Everyone except the couple erupted in giggles and their ‘argument’.
“You want to know what he actually did Ellie?” Morgan asked between laughs. “Oh no I’ve got to spend time with my girlfriend blahhhh!” he repeated Jakey’s choking gesture.
“Now does that sound like something I’d say Ellie?” Jake attempted to defend himself.
“Yeah it does actually”
“No no come on now, kettles getting cold” Jake wrapped his arms around her shoulders trying to drag her from the room.
Using their attempted escape to your advantage you moved up to Morgan, his arm sliding around your waist instinctively. “Jakey! Are you telling her to get back to the kitchen!” You exclaimed towards your friend. “That’s disgusting that Jakey,” your boyfriend instantly backed you up.
“But Ellie while you’re there will you do us a brew?” Tays called out to her, causing more laughter from the group.
The group moved into the hallway, the feminist joke continuing - now involving a hoover thanks to your boyfriend. Then the dominos arrived - leaving just you and Morgan upstairs.
Dropping himself down in his gaming chair he gestured you to come closer until you were standing between his legs. His hands gripping your hips like muscle memory.
“So, what was that on the phone then darlin’.” He smirked up at you.
“What was what?”
“Believe your exact words were ‘wrap your hand around my neck when you’re home’. Anything to say about that?” The smug expression on his face grew as red started appearing on your chest up your neck and face. Your face burned hotter the longer he stared at you, Morgan didn’t rush you. Didn’t look away either.
Just sat there in his chair, hands warm and firm on your hips, thumbs slowly brushing back and forth like he already knew he had you cornered.
“I was being nice.” You tried to play it off.
“Nice?” His eyebrow lifted instantly.
“Mhm.” He leaned back slightly, dragging you closer so you had no choice but to step between his knees properly. The smirk on his face was dangerous - the exact one he got when chat started winding him up and he decided to commit to the bit.
“Right because choking is friendly behaviour, yeah?”
“Maybe,” you shrugged, avoiding eye contact with him. A soft laugh escaped him as he tugged you even closer to him, grip on your hips tightening.
“Missed you today,” he mumbled leaning up to finally give you a kiss. You melted into him instantly, knees falling to each side of his thighs as you settled on his lap. The chair rolled slightly as the weight shifted, one of Morgan’s hands cradling your back to keep you steady while the other stayed firmly on your hip. He tried to pull away but your hands slipped into his hair pulling him back into you as he laughed low from his chest.
Naturally, living with four other people, as soon as things started getting abit more heated between the two of you Beano made an appearance. Camera man Chaz following behind him to get Morgan to switch to desktop so he can go home for the day.
“You alright Beano?” Morgan asked over your shoulder putting a bit of space between you now you were in company.
“Nah I’m not actually king.”
“Aw really what’s up mate?”
“Ellie and katie are staying the night I’m fuming.” He went to pick up the nerf gun from Morgan’s shelf. “Where’s the real one?”
Your head fell to Morgan’s head as your chuckle escaped. “I know what you mean mate. I’m fuming too… And it’s in the garage I think but it’s not worth it Beano, not worth it.” There was a brief silence as you stood up, stealing some of Beano’s chicken since your separate takeaway hadn’t arrived yet.
“Proper awkward,” Morgan was shaking his head as he spoke. “Like walking into a club and seeing everyone you’ve ever slept with.” Your mouth dropped open in shock as Beano and Chazza fell into deep belly laughter.
“Aye one of them ones where the lights turn on after and you’re like ‘what the fuck have I just done’.” Beano replied through his chuckles.
“Innit mate. So different when you see them with the light on isn’t it?” He covered his mouth with his hand.
“Oh you know what that’s like do you Morgan?”
Hands on your hips as you turned to him. His eyes were glued to his monitor refusing to meet yours. Beano was doubled over behind you both. Morgan still silent, waiting for the world to swallow him up. “Morgan?” You repeated.
“No - no of course not babe. How would I know what that’s like. Just a joke, for - for - for the stream.” he stuttered, hands held in front of him in surrender.
“Want to be joking as well knobhead.” You didn’t change your stance as he slowly looked towards you. Grin overtaking his face as he took in your expression.
“Are you seriously jealous right now?” He snickered.
“I’m not jealous. I just don’t appreciate you talking about my friends like that.” Your lips formed a small pout, giving you away instantly. Morgan absolutely lost it. Tears glossing in his eyes at the force of his laughter.
“That’s cute that, literally have only slept with you and you’re still this jealous from a joke.”
“Shut up Morgan!” Once again he pulled you in between his legs. “Obsessed with me aren’t ya?” You didn’t get a chance to reply as he quickly pecked your lips again, going back to his conversation with Beano.
Rolling your eyes you left to go collect your chinese food, not knowing leaving them to their own devices meant signing up the other girls for verbal abuse getting shouted through the house. You were sat on the sofa chatting with Ellie and Jakey when gold digger started blasting down the stairs along with your boyfriend and Beano’s voices singing the lyrics.
“Katie this one’s about you, ya slapper!”
You choked on your drink making eye contact with Ellie before you both started giggling. “It’s getting harder and harder to defend him everyday you know” you admitted. “I’m not surprised, I’m surprised any of them actually manage to hold a relationship” Ellie replied jokingly. Then the song Beano wrote about Ellie floated through the house.
Jakey come back, I just want to craaaack. Ellie’s a bop, uses teeth during slooops.
“I’m gunna have to go shout at them aren’t I?” You groaned, leaning back into the sofa. “Me and katie would appreciate it reader” She laughed. Reluctantly you dragged yourself upstairs as the final notes to devellie was sang. “You’re being mean to the girls you two,” you pointed at the men in front of you, Tays hiding his face in his hands as you came in.
“It’s just not on reader, if they were nice decent people I wouldn’t mind but I can’t have them bring girlfriends for sleepovers in my house.” Beano complained.
“Clock it sister! Clock it!” Morgan and Tays started tapping their pointer finger and thumb together.
“Erm, you do realise I’m a girlfriend having a sleepover right?” That stopped their laughter, Morgan pulling a face at your suggestion. “Erm no. You live with me it’s different.” your boyfriend protested.
“It’s really not different Morgan,” you were chuckling at his perplexed face.
“She has a point to be fair tho.” Tays pipped up, always the shit stirrer.
“You can shut up as well!” Morgan’s head snapped to his friend the second the words escaped his mouth. You rolled your eyes at them. Completely fed up with them even with the day you’d had apart.
“Just chill out on baiting the girls yeah? It’s just jarring.”
“We will darlin’ promise,” he smiled at you. “Anyways lads - hopping on clubs?” After a quick debate the boys left for their own rooms to play. You went to leave as well letting Morgan continue with his stream. “- erm where you going?” He gripped the sleeve of your his hoodie.
“Letting you play with the boys, I’ll just chill with Jake and Ellie or something be a little third wheel.”
“Why you going to third wheel when your boyfriend is literally sat right here.” He scoffed.
“Because unlike our good friend Jakey you are prioritising clubs over spending time with your ‘future wife’.” you joked with him.
“You can stay though - be my good luck charm yeah?”
He was giving you that soft puppy dog look. The face that was solely for you and not for an audience. Also the face you claimed was unfair because it made you melt internally. “Fine I’ll stay… if you promise not to get aggy when you inevitably lose.” With a roll of his eyes you were pulled into his lap, one of his arms wrapped around your back the other resting on your legs that were thrown sideways across his lap. Controller in hand as he joined the discord call.
It took less than ten minutes for you to regret your decision, Morgan shouting at his team mates over your shoulder.
“You promised you wouldn’t get aggy when you lost.”
“I’m not getting aggy.” he grumbled as he leaned closer towards the monitor, inevitably taking you with him.
“PASS IT!” he barked into his headset. A beat. “WHY WOULD YOU SHOOT FROM THERE YOU MELT?”
You pressed your lips together, trying not to laugh as his knee bounced under you. The Discord voices overlapped — Tobi laughing somewhere, someone accusing someone else of selling, pure chaos. You tipped your head against his shoulder. “You’re shouting.”
“I’m communicating.” You hummed thoughtfully, reaching up and absent-mindedly playing with the hair at the back of his neck. His shoulders instantly dropped half an inch. He briefly glanced sideways at you, trying and failing to hide the small smile tugging at his mouth. “See?” you whispered. “Better already.”
“Don’t get cocky,” he muttered, but he shifted you higher on his lap anyway, arm settling more comfortably around you like you belonged there. Another goal went in, Against them. Morgan dropped his head forward dramatically, forehead landing against your shoulder. Controller banging against his desk as he groaned into your hoodie. You laughed, wrapping an arm around the back of his head. “Not getting aggy though, yeah?”
“I’m calm,” he insisted, voice muffled. “This is a calm man.”
“Ginge’s missus watching him get cooked live,” Tobi teased.
Morgan sat upright instantly. “We’re not getting cooked. Relax yourselves.”
You leaned closer to his mic. “You absolutely are.” The call erupted, Morgan turned his head slowly toward you, eyes narrowed in fake betrayal. “You’re meant to be on my side.”
“I am,” you grinned. “Emotionally. Not competitively.”
He shook his head, laughing under his breath before pressing a quick kiss to your temple then refocused on the game. For a few minutes things actually improved. A goal back. Then another. Morgan straightened proudly. “See? Just needed a few tactical adjustments.” You clapped softly. “All me.”
“All you,” he agreed immediately. Eyes briefly meeting yours. The room settled into that comfortable late-night rhythm — controller clicks, soft Discord chatter, your legs tucked across his while he played. Every now and then his thumb traced lazy circles against your thigh without him even realising he was doing it.
You settled deeper into his chest as the next match loaded, his chin briefly resting on the top of your head. And despite the shouting, the chaos, the lads arguing through his headset you managed to fall asleep curled into him.
