Yakkawow Designs

Textiles and Surface Design Degree student @ClevelandCollegeofArt&Design. Yakkawow Designs specialises in children’s surface design for interiors creating surface patterns and placement prints for wallpaper, bedding and furnishing fabrics. I am mainly inspired by fond personal childhood memories of family days out exploring new places. Wishing to show the excitement and fun through story telling designs I pay particular attention to the little details that young children are interested in. There was rarely a day that went by when my brother and I were sat at home doing nothing exciting as children. Even on rainy days in the house we were participating in activities such as dressing up, or playing puzzles and creating masterpieces with crayons and poster paints. Just imagining these ‘works of art’ developed further and put into a repeat is inspiring to me. I love the naive quality in children’s drawings, the idea that colour isn’t the most important factor when it comes to distinguishing an animal for example.
