URSUUUUS!!!!
jrwi riptide 117 spoilers !!
some kind of peace
Oh captains, my captains...
You are standing at a crossroads, and what should be the hardest choice of your life is very, very easy
It's such an interesting role reversal to have Chip be willing to make immense personal sacrifice for the greater good and to have Gillion not care at all about the greater good
JRWI RIPTIDE EP 116 SPOILERS!!!!
jrwi riptide 116 spoilers !!
something about how gillion was told his whole life that the prophecy destined him to save his home and the sea, but when the time came he chose to save chip because his home was really the place in the world and on the crew that chip gave him. and on the flip side chip grew up his whole life wanting nothing but arlin back, but gillion showed him the worth in fighting for other people and sacrificing his own wants for the world. how they realized theres a world worth saving but only with each other in it
! jrwi riptide 116 spoilers
does anyone remember when gillion revealed the original prophecy (ep 60 smtn) and chip and gillion telling each other "i'd drown the world for you" / "and i'd drown the world for you too." and then in episode 116 gillion chooses to save chip over the world. ohhh
riptide 115 spoilers !
while we're locking in our final theories. i dont care who the traitor is i have a new question. jug (tortle) said he tried to go down into the hole to find the rest of the crew but the "door will not open for [him]." but when chip and gillion do down and get to the sun/moon door, grizzly specifies "somebody opened this door before you" why have i seen no discussion on this.!!!! who did it open for!!
not only was someone here before us but its someone who was able to get Through the door through the unspecified right of passage.!! who does the door open for! why not jug! who else is here! why! what!!!!

[2/3] William Wispp I usually dont like straying very far from canon but for him i'll make an exception (mainly the supersuit)
What I woke up to btw
Riptide Theory (or more accurately, my 4 am prediction):
I’m convinced that Faye’s experiments in the Black Sea were all leading toward the creation of that artificial leviathan, and I think it's a part of a bigger plan to crown R.A.F.T as the ultimate power in this world... Think about it. She’s been studying the corruption, and I believe now she’s found a way to weaponize it. And part of her plan is making this construct capable of containing, controlling, or even commanding the corruption threatening this world.
Think about the horrors we’ve seen. The tritons strung up on hooks, the stripped skin, the REAL leviathan bones. I believe all of her doing ties directly to what Gillion saw at the tree... All the bloodlines uniting to seal the corruption away. Faye is trying to recreate that, but on her own terms. Because the world has changed, and instead of seeking unity, she’s chosen domination. She wants to become a single force powerful enough to control that freaky thing all on her own. Once she proves she can command a construct powerful enough to keep that corruption at bay, the world will face a choice to either submit to her rule, or be devoured by the corruption she controls.
And the Black Ops? I think they’re her replacements for key figures across the world, positioned to secure her influence further... Do I think that Mana is fucked if that is true? Yes, very much.
"The day where it spreads is coming, and we'll be ready. Our machine is stable. My son is stable. The new black ops have replaced the lives of their targets. Soon the world will be at the mercy of my justice."
Also in the same recording she mentions a messenger:
"Praise the solar mother. She sent me a messenger to warn it was coming."
It is most definitely Niklaus. Why? Who else fucking brought riptide pirates to the fucking hole to possibly mess with the thing trapped down there... bruh...
Does anyone think about the fact that the Ferin girls names are so vastly different. I think its something to consider in terms of Jays story in the show. In comparison to Chips orphan narrative Jay's story functions as a deconstruction or slow decay of the nuclear family. Its Jayson and May (Malenia, is her actual name), Jay and then Ava. Some people headcanon her name to be spelled Ayva which is cute but isn't canon and honestly less interesting to me from an analysis standpoint?
Its much more likely to me that May got to name their daughter herself, their first child a name not tied to her husband, and Jayson got to name their second kid. Which in a gendered reading of Jays character, their son. Jayson being a military egocentric man naming their son after himself, Jay(son) the second, in defiance to their first child's turn away from their family history. Which makes it all the more interesting to me that in turn Ava took on the more stereotypical masculine roles in the family, becoming this revered almost inhuman in stories military woman, a soldier in uniform after her father despite her name. And Jay, in her childhood clinging to femininity with her doll her father hated and her sensitivity and tears, ends up defying her father instead of conforming. Something about destiny being a theme in riptide and how in their parents attempts to change the narrative it worked retroactively. Something about names .
