ohhhh man the tension between lui and will in this, their most intense case yet, borne from how differently they approach mysteries and their differing priorities (to certain extents - will and lui would both prioritize no one getting hurt over solving a mystery, but it's MUCH closer for will than for lui) causing them, as the sort of leaders of the group, to come into conflict? dragging isaac into it because she didn't say anything either? it's so juicy. it's also SO NOT THE FUCKING TIME Y'ALL—

spoilers for legit the first twelve minutes of the episode because i don't know if i can watch more tonight

so IMMEDIATELY. immediately literally in the very first few sentences. i, known isaac and norah parallel/dynamics enjoyer, am validated. bizly crafted the opening of this episode for me specifically <3 ISAAC BEING THE ONE TO SEE NORAH!!!!!

and more specifically - god i love how condi portrays isaac locking the fuck in once someone's in active, visible danger. last episode we had isaac stealing looks at the grimoire and letting her eyes stray towards the trees and sneaking up to the abrahams house despite the obvious danger inside. and that is what allowed her to spot norah rather than william or lui!!! (i think. i did not rewatch 2.3 before this at all because i had too much homework.)

BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY. FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE BELLA DIED WE GOT ISAAC ACTIVELY PROTECTING HERSELF. BECAUSE SHE HAD TO HELP NORAH. much like she agonized over going out with upp again because she's all her mom has left, she knows will and lui would not be able to get norah out of danger on their own - knows she couldn't live with herself if she let herself get pulled away from helping norah, the same way she couldn't live with herself if she abandoned upp to stopping the dark young without her. so for the first time isaac of her own accord blocks her vision from the trees and points out norah and rushes over immediately to help her. INTRO CRAFTED FOR ME FOR MEEEEEEEEEEEE (im joking but for real it was so wonderful)

and then the hospital!!! again i am LITERALLY ONLY TWELVE MINUTES IN. i stopped when bizly told charlie to roll persuasion with penalty to convince her to go buy salt because i got too secondhand embarrassed. but the bit before that. oooohhh janet.

i kind of waffle on my janet opinion - i think she's a good mother, a bad neighbor, a good christian and a mixed bag of a person basically - and it really always just depends on which part of her is most related to a situation? but that also changes depending on WHO is in the situation. as we saw in 2.1 when she called isaac's mom, that was mostly the christian and the mom in her - appalled at her son's lack of neighborly tact, pinning it on the bad kid who doesn't go to church who also happens to be a bad influence on her son. but now with norah, with her springing into action, we see the good mom primarily and nothing else. that's not just her son's friend, that's her son's good friend (in the sense of both closeness and norah's reputation). the comparison of norah's situation with janet to isaac's obviously does not line up at all but it's like. of course janet is gonna give norah more grace than she did isaac. that's how she is.

(side tangent: janet makes little to no mention of isaac's involvement in the situation (unlike officer donald, who. dw. there will be a Post about him later.) i wonder if that's because she, like eleanor, got her memories back and is operating from a standpoint of 'this kid's dad and sister just died, give her a little bit of grace too' or if she's just that locked in on norah? i very much lean towards the latter but the former is intriguing to me.)

lastly - my blade pact to a upp session where they stop just completely forgetting isaac's wounds??? first it was the glass shards that were definitely still attached to her hands in DisRes along with her obvious illness, and now it's the wounds from the car crash. I know Norah tried her best to patch Isaac up but at absolute best she is covered with bandages on her face and arm/side. But no one points it out!! None of the adults (including her own fucking mother!!!) are concerned about it!!!
