apparently the japanese version of The Art of Princess Mononoke, which i dont own, has all the japanese translations of the ones in my book.

i unfortunately only have two princess mononoke art books. i have The Art of Princess Mononoke, which is the English one where i got the poems, and i have Roman Album Mononoke Hime, which is in Japanese.

i took japanese in highschool and now i dont even remember the kanji for nippon.... so, i cant be sure, but i did find 1 and only one page of what i think is the japanese version of text at the beginning of The Art of Princess Mononoke.

but beyond that, i dont have any more info.

i would check out the list of books on nausicaa.net for other ghibli films, and check if any other stuff contains some of miyazaki's poems.

hey! i got them from "The Art of Princess Mononoke." the poems begin on page 4. i have a few other art books of other ghibli films, but none of the other ones i own contain any of his poems.

as far as i can tell, Princess Mononoke was unique to Miyazaki, and thats why he gave joe hisaishi such specific direction for that film.

if any of my followers have more info on this subject, you are welcome to share.

I saw a post of someone scoffing that pronouncing Ghibli with a soft g is a white people thing, but they turned off reblogs and replies so nobody contested that.

You’re 100000% right about this.

It’s is ABSOLUTELY a /j/ sound.

I don’t care what the original Italian word is or whatever that Miyazaki took it from, the studio name in Katakana is spelled “jiburi”.

Even if you extrapolate and change the /r/ sound to a /l/ (bc Japanese uses the same symbol for both sounds), that still doesn’t change that they use a j in their spelling.

Japanese has different symbols for a /g/ and a /j/, so it’s definitely a choice.

ジ and ギ are not interchangeable.

Sorry to rant but I’ve heard SOOO many people say it with a hard G and it’s just. Not how it’s spelled or pronounced in Japanese. At all.

7 years in the making, Brazilian fan-film "Wind Princess" has finally been released! Based on Hayao Miyazaki's Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind, the film was entirely self-funded and a non-profit endeavor. Filmmaker Chris Tex, who was the head of the project as well as the director, is a Brazilian filmmaker looking to make his first full-length feature film in the future. The fan-film is available for free world-wide on his Youtube channel above.

She has a whole underground laboratory hidden under her castle where she grows the plants and observes them. She's extremely compassionate and headstrong. When someone disagrees with her she just. Stares at them and smiles until they relent. She has expressed feeling more at home in the jungle than with other humans, feeling like she's not a human herself. There's a scene in the movie where she lays down on the ground and cries because she loves the sand so much."
