annabeth chase is the biggest fucking softie ever and the fanon representation of her as this completely stoic, cold, detached leader that got popularized in like 2009 by dumb internet users is legitimately the most atrocious disservice to her character ever that has unfortunately stuck in the minds of those lacking in reading comprehension. also insert the excerpt about annabeth designing percy’s cabin on the argo II with an abalone sink and aquatic-themed things so he could be reminded of the comfort of the poseidon cabin and home (someone please find me that excerpt because i’m having trouble)…she is so cute!!

big owl eyed annabeth studying percy curiously bc its been decades since a demigod child of poseidon has been born and there’s oddities about him that differ him from the other demigods at camp. he’s like her guinea pig (pun intended atp) that she likes experimenting on. she finds him hiding out in a tree for some alone time and she climbs up quietly beside him until he notices her and freaks out, almost falling from that height before catching himself, but she just pushes him off and looks over to study him groaning on the ground, winded and gasping for breath. she takes notes in a notebook. he is SO annoyed. she hasn’t had this much mental stimulation in a while. she’s having the time of her life.

she loved his gateway arch trick. fell from 600+ feet and only healed? no injuries? she jotted that down in her notebook the second she saw him climb out of the river. once they became friends, she DID sit him down in the infirmary and dosed him with various poisons and venoms just to see how his body reacted to it and how long it took to kill him. she also fed him loads and loads of nectar and ambrosia and took his temperature consistently to see how much he could consume before burning up. she’s used a regular steel blade on him and timed how long it took the wound to start to heal itself compared to a regular demigod. he’s exasperated beyond belief but knows it’s better to go along with her plans rather than fight her on it. she’s getting her answers whether he likes it or not. its just the easy way or the hard way. this is the easy way.

percy knew the great prophecy coming to fruition would be disastrous, whether or not he made the correct decision. but he never knew he was prophesied to die. he found that out a few days before his birthday. so while I do like in some fanon versions when percy’s reacting this and that way about dying on his birthday, just think about him being unaware of this. you know who is aware? annabeth. and she’s been keeping this from him since they met. the summer before the war, he’s going back and forth from camp not knowing just how limited his, and their, time is. and she can’t tell him this. the clock is ticking on the amount of time they have left together, but the very few times she might allude to him dying, percy’s just like it’s a war we all could die. he doesn’t get it and she can’t tell him!!! anyway this is just me saying annabeth could’ve been 100x more insane in this era and it’d be justified
