i’ve been trying to assess/be more cognizant of racism in the yugioh fandom lately and i have to say. there is…a lot going on here.

like a lot of it is supported by canon just enough to give people the benefit of the doubt but i’m starting to think i was just giving people WAY too much credit for being aware of the biases of canon when most people really…don’t think about that. even though it’s very obviously present. but maybe people just don’t give much thought to their own biases, either.

It’s a little unconventional as far as dates go, but no one minds - it’s just how things are for them - and Yami looks so enamored with all the sea creatures in their vast enclosures that it’s a joy in itself just to watch him. There’s a small handful of times in the anime where we see Yugi in an unusual outfit, usually his pjs, and for some reason Atem’s little floaty ghost is still in his school uniform, and I personally consider this an act of utter cowardice on the part of the writers. There’s no logical reason for that. Let Atem wear little pajamas this instant.
