Yandere Kanojo
The last chapter of Yandere Kanojo was translated today, and marks the end of a manga 5 years or so in the making. As when any manga finishes, I can’t help but feel a little bittersweet that it’s finally over even though the ending was very satisfactory.
For anyone who’s never read, Yandere Kanojo is a slapstick comedy (that evolves into a dramatic SoL romcom that still retains its comedic origins) about a Yankee schoolgirl and the most average guy in school, Reina and Manabu. It’s a charming story of their second year in highschool that while light hearted at times also shows many opportunities where the characters are able to face their flaws and insecurities in order to move forward. Overall, you could say I was very surprised and satisfied to see how well developed the characters are now compare to the very first chapter which had me thinking “what the hell is going on?”
Bye, Yandere Kanojo.
Seconding this recommendation. One of the best aspects is that the main couple get together in the very first chapter (unlike a lot of other manga where the inevitable relationship is put off for a long time, sometimes to a ridiculous extent). Instead of the drama coming from the usual “will they won’t they” trope, the manga explores Reina and Manabu’s relationship, at first through just through wacky hijinks but then in the deeper aspects mentioned above. A humorous, heartwarming and refreshing high-school manga ^o^
