Jeon Doo-in’s relationship with Baek Ryong is complicated. He gets paid by Ryong to do dirty jobs, which is standard fare for a thug like him. The fact that they have sex together doesn’t make things that messy, either. The part where everything gets complicated is the fact that Doo-in doesn’t really want any kind of relationship with Ryong in the first place. Doo-in isn’t the type of man to be domesticated, and Ryong likes him that way…but he doesn’t want to let his “beast” go, either.
I copy and pasted the symposis because honestly I was confused by the story lol. But if I had to describe it, it’s like the imprisoned mafia gangster BL troupe.
This manga features a Golden Retriever type Yandere! And I put Yandere in another less killing sense because he’s more of an overly obsessive boyfriend troupe. He’s possessive and the type of Yandere to keep their victim in a cage. (Amnesia)
Forced marriage. It's a classic trope and boy oh boy is it overdone. Seeing it in a fantasy setting, with men, is a little fresher. A little, but just barely. There are two potential yanderes.
So.
Nox is a member of the Edelfelt imperial Knights. His rival, Allon, has a better pedigree and is also more skilled than him.
Also Allon is a weirdo who pretends he doesn't know him. Even though they slept together and were friends before. You know the drill. They were noblemen with benefits that knew they had no future together, because they need wives and whatever. How complicated.
One day Allon randomly ropes Nox into a marriage. They've been fighting/pretending not to know each other/avoiding each other/glaring for ages. Nox is completely shocked. Allon did not ask permission beforehand.
Why did this happen? What reason could possibly explain this? Welp, some time ago the Emperor vanished. The Regent and his family have been controlling the country for decades. The Regent now has a very capable adult son named Kray. People are beginning to suspect that the Emperor's bloodline is not getting back in the throne. Soon the Regent will toss the title to his son quietly. Political strife is coming.
Allon and his family are very loyal to the old emperor. Nox and his family like the Regent, because he is a pretty good ruler, even though he's suspicious. Allon is totally obsessed with restoring the imperial family, but he doesn't want to kill Nox... because they hooked up and kissed and stuff. So he puts a bunch of magical binding curses on Nox, and he marries Nox. All to ensure his loyalty and silence when the Emperor rises again.
Kray is a little obsessed with Nox. This is the Regents son and technically the next Emperor. Kray is very technically the boss of everybody. Kray immediately knows that Nox doesn't love Allon. At this point Nox does hate Allon, because of all the curses and the forced marriage and cold behavior etc. However, Nox gets a bad feeling. He doesn't want to flirt with Kray.
Nox needs someone reliable. Allon has declared that he'll bring the real Emperor back. That means things are about to get messy. Nox has to choose a side. The winning side. The side where his family doesn't die. Both men in charge of both sides are interested in him. It looks like he is going to choose Allon. I didn't make this clear enough. Allon is picture perfect and a military beast. He only does weird things around Nox. That's how he was able to push the marriage through. He's extremely influential, and nobody wants to piss him off.
Allon is extremely affectionate in public, but weird and controlling in private. Nox and his family just thought the true Emperor died. They don't know shit about any conspiracies. They were living peacefully before Allon decided to bust in, marry their eldest son, and wreck the capital city. It's all very chaotic.
Allon and Nox were very adorable secret lovers once. Nox is confused in every single chapter and I get it. I'd go nuts if I was him. Everybody is after his ass and the castle is about to drown in blood. There is war brewing, but before Nox was a naive student knight. He just wanted some dick. Damn. I feel bad for him. Instead of dick he got a sticky obsession.
The engagement ceremony is awkward as hell. Allon is, of course, controlling Nox to protect him but it is uncomfortable. It is a forced marriage. Everybody is only going along with it because Allon is such a scary dude. Nox has really conflicted feelings about Allon. Since they are noble men they have duties. They are knights who are supposed to be working, but Allon wants to lock him away for safekeeping.
Less than ten chapters of this are out. I think it will be messy.
