I need to rant about the discrimination that Gen Z faces when it comes to employment. I've heard so many older people online saying that all of Gen Z is "unemployable" and it pisses me off. That's such a dangerous thing to say about an entire generation of people. I was raised by boomer parents and I actually have a great work ethic. I wear professional clothes to work, I have an impressive resume, I know how to interview well, I write emails without relying on AI, and I speak and act professionally in the work place. But because I'm Gen Z, I have been discriminated against so extremely back in America that I had to move to another country to find employment!! I was bullied horribly at my last two jobs by millennial coworkers. It was so bad at one job that I had an anxiety attack one day before work and threw up on my bedroom floor while wondering how she was going to torment me at work. It was awful, and that's when I was working for the Boys and Girls Club of America!! A very professional and well respected non profit that does wonderful things for the communities they're placed in! I loved that job but I had to quit because my millennial coworker kept harassing me. She always made everything about our generational differences, but I honestly didn't see any differences between us except that she was a total bitch. I have met plenty of other Gen Z people with similar stories. People who are genuinely good workers who end up getting shit on by older people simply because they're Gen Z. When will it end? Some of us just want to show up to work, do our jobs, and go home without facing harassment from older coworkers. Feel free to share any of your experiences. I hate that so many of us are having difficulties finding jobs because of our generation (I know that there are other factors as well, but I honestly feel like being part of Gen Z plays a part in the struggle for employment).
