If Aang had been older in canon, Zukaang would've been THE yaoi of a generation.

Like, genuinely, it could have been THE blueprint of the sunshine x dark haired boy with daddy issues, betraying and redemption, paralleling each other, coming of age, slow burn and reincarnated soulmates. People probably would have compared it to sasunaru or sth.

I think anyone comparing the ship they hate to Obsession (something I've noticed Kataang haters do) is basically what happens when someone who usually only watches kids' media interacts with something a little bit more mature and dark for the first time and in the instant makes comparisons that have nothing to do with each other.

Instead of recognizing that both media are vastly different, or the very real subtext and topics the movie deals with are not even comparable to the flaws presented in a kids show, these parallels are drawn in such a pretentious way that it makes me doubt you actually watched Obsession and not a 30-second short describing it as being about a "man abusing a woman." No, I don't consider you an adult if you remotely compare 12-year-old Aang for kissing Katara once because he was confused with Bear from Obsession. At some point in your life, you have to stop comparing a character from a children's show to a rapist and misogynist who objectifies women just because you think Zuko is hotter.

They’re actually insanely misogynistic toward Katara’s character despite claiming they supposedly adore her more than anyone in the ATLA fanbase because they want to see her character be sexually assaulted and abused by the man she loves who would never actually do anything like that to her. They’d rather take a happy healthy romantic relationship and turn it into torture porn for her character purely to see Aang’s character be “punished” than just say “yeah the ship isn’t my vibe” and move tf on with their lives

if Zuko could see all the Aang slander they've been doing, he'll probably challenge all of them in an agni kai. We all know that Zuko would always pick Aang over Katara any day.
