100% knackered after derby practice today. Mentally I’m feeling pretty good though. I mean, I’m shite at this but feel like I’m getting marginally better every time. A month ago I didn’t know how to stand up on skates without falling over so I’m making some progress. Just leaving this here to look back on when the inevitable self-doubt starts creeping in (I get Imposter Syndrome just trying to leave my flat and pretending to be a functional human)

If you can’t afford to or don’t care to ship water, there are other ways you can help! You can donate money to the Flint Water Fund so they can purchase water or filters, or to the Flint Child Health & Development Fund to directly help kids affected by the lead. If you don’t have money, sign this petition to stop making Flint residents pay astronomical rates for unusable water. Water bills average $140 a month in Flint, and the city is trying to force them to pay, beginning with shutting off water, but since that’s not much of a punishment, I imagine they’ll end up sending people to collections for unpaid bills.

Just about recovered from roller derby on Sunday. And this is just the learning to propel yourself forward on wheels phase. Curse my apparently-atrophied muscles.

I'm going to my first roller derby intake session tomorrow! It's only taken me about seven years to work up the nerve (I might never have if a pal hadn't convinced me to go along with her). I should take bets on how many times I face-plant/ass-plant; it might comfort me through the bruises that follow. I decided to have a bit of a practice in my flat last night since it's been at least twenty years since I last tried roller skating. I got myself padded up, strapped on my skates, stood up and promptly shat it. 'What IS this? I can't do this! How does ANYONE do this? What was I thinking?!' After googling 'how to roller skate' and watching a couple of YouTube videos it became a bit clearer and I managed to wobble up and down my hallway a few times. We'll see how it goes out in the big bad world tomorrow.
