All my hope for getting back into critical role again when campaign 4 came around just got killed brutally dead.

Matt being DM and that dynamic between him and the rest of the cast is literally the reason I loved the stories so much and idk it’s a pretty bold move to change that and change the setting and potentially change the system all at once. Each episode is hours long for literally years in a campaign, so given most people have busy lives and limited time, you really have to love something very much to dedicate that time to watching it. With all this change and disappointment I don’t think I’m ever going to love it that much again, I was already behind on c3 and had to catch up after it finished. There was so much criticism to last campaign as well and just seems like they doubled down and forgot the joy of what made critical role what it was.

#which is up to them and maybe it will still get enough love to keep going but I feel like this has gotta disappoint so many people #I know there was quite a lot of criticism to last campaign that they kept pushing to the side #it’s giving hubris #not that it has to be catered every element to fans at all just… maybe listen a bit.#?#anyway

#haven’t been on here in centuries but damn #do they not understand why critical role worked??#I don’t see the problem with experimenting in smaller campaigns and mini series and #I like Brennan but 3 years main campaign changing the dynamic that much is a pretty insane thing to do #it reminds me of friends how the show hinged on those #people and they always said it was like lightening in a bottle #no matter what changes came the core dynamic was the same because it obviously worked #that’s how I feel about cr #its like they don’t care about the very thing that made people love it and what made it popular #I kind of made do with the changes in c3 and loved a lot about it still but this change is stupid #I have very little desire to get back into it #which makes me genuinely sad #I guess we’ll always have campaign 2 😭😭😭#critical role spoilers #?
