Welcome! This is mostly a Tolkien blog, although it's also the only one I post to so there's the occasional personal or non-Tolkien-fandom post. I stan for the Valar, Vanyar, and Arafinweans, though I like most of Tolkien's characters in some way or another. I tag pretty thoroughly with default character names or obvious descriptive words. Stuff I've written or commented extensively on is under "my words", if you want just fanfic it's "my fic", and meta is "my meta". Generally original posts are under "my stuff" and/or "op" and personal posts are "stuff about me". I do have a tag cloud, the link is on the upper right. I try to keep the queue stocked to post about 6-8 times a day. I also post a lot of fashion/nature/architecture aesthetics, especially ones that are evocative to me of something Tolkien-related. Feel free to message me on tumblr or Skype (I'm yavieriel there too), I love to chat although I can't always respond right away. I try to reply to mentions/asks/replies-to-replies/etc. in a reasonably timely fashion but sometimes RL or just plain old ADD means I don't get around to it for awhile. I promise it's not your fault, I just have fairly limited spoons for forcing myself to pay attention to something my brain doesn't arbitrarily latch onto at a given moment and I save most of those for Adulting. All that said, some notes on me and Tolkien fandom: I've been around a long time, though I mostly lurked during the LJ/listserve days. I am not a Feanor fan, nor do I care for Curufin, Celegorm, and Caranthir. Trying to persuade me that I have to like any of them will not go well for you, and I really really doubt you have anything to say about them that I haven't heard before. I dislike revisionism or "heresy" and am primarily interested in in-universe speculation/discussion.

The two sides of this are "I don't like censorship or bullying" vs. "It's activism to harass people".
They can certainly both be self-righteous activists on the surface, and there are certainly hypocrites describing themselves as proshippers, but this is not a Both Sides issue. This is good values vs. security theater at best and intentional harassment for funsies at worst.
What you're saying is that people who are loudly anti-bullying are just as annoying as bullies.

That's not what horseshoe theory is.
Horseshoe theory is that "moderate" members of two opposing parties are ideologically further apart than "extreme" members of the same two opposing parties. Essentially, take the left-to-right political spectrum and bend it into a horseshoe shape.
E.g. liberal suburbanites and conservative rural "moderate Republicans" are less ideologically similar to each other, while tankies and neo-Nazis are actually more similar to each other (authoritarian, doomers, anti-Semitic, etc.) than they are to moderates.
Among other things, it's been very well demonstrated by how anti-vaxxers went from being an extreme left-wing ideology to an extreme right-wing ideology without moving through any more moderate groups at all. The "crunchy granola mom to alt-right" pipeline is real.

These were three separate people today. Two on public transit - one tiktokker who doubled down when I politely asked her to mute her shit, and one who was having a loud phone conversation on a crowded commuter train and only didn't get told off by me because I would have had to climb over several people to do it. The third rode down two escalators behind me playing music from a speaker he was carrying around on a strap over his shoulder like he thought he was entitled to a personal soundtrack, and when I got to the bottom of the escalator I turned around and just shouted at him "What the fuck is wrong with you?! Turn that shit off!" and walked away.
I swear if I had psychic powers SOOO many people would have their phones abruptly lose all sound and portable speakers in public would be detonated on sight.
Ahhhhhhhhhhhgggggggggg.
If you are one of those people who think there is any excuse for this shit, just know that I desperately want to stab you and smash your phone.
God I miss having a car and not needing to take public transit.
