Yeast by Sweet Beast Fest is the longest-running 3-night experimental music festival in North America. 2020 marks the 20th year that thereminist, drummer & guitarist Anne Heller has curated and produced (and funded) this three-night DIY festival of experimental, avant-garde and outsider music which has featured acts from all over the United States, Canada, France, Puerto Rico and Colombia. Yeast by Sweet Beast Fest has featured saxophone-laden experimental rockers Weird Omen from France, jazz-punk mavens Jazzus Lizard, haunting Argentinian ambient songstress Ana Barajas, venerable triple-decade Austin power space rockers ST-37, experimental dance and music collective Kuniklo of Puerto Rico and Baltimore experimental musician John Berndt, along with so many other talented musicians from all over the world. Yeast by Sweet Beast 2020 will feature such acts as goth experimenters ManifestiV (Dallas), experimental rapper MC Trachiotomy (N.O.), improv party band Ouiness (ATX) and many of the usual suspects. “My goal in life (and with Yeast by Sweet Beast Fest) is to encourage free musical expression for everyone, in order to entertain, expand knowledge and encourage creation of improvisational and experimental music of all varieties and ease societal stresses in a positive manner,” says festival creator and curator Anne Heller.
