I dreamed a dream, or maybe I dreamed about the future.
Back in my childhood, I already loved music production. Mixing and making beats will always be my thing. I started from makeshift drums and chant vocals, until I was blessed with a laptop so fine I could produce bangers. I’ve been dreaming to be a world-renowned DJ. Yes, you heard that right. It’s my passion. but.. Will it remain a dream playing in live stages? Will it stay like that? Will I be successful? First off, my parents. Tutol talaga sila na magpasiklab ako sa mga clubs or anything. It’s a total no-no. They see me turning tables in my own bedroom, but they really want to ensure my safety, 100%. So eto ako hanggang sa titulong “Bedroom DJ” lang muna. Pero I guess kung kausapin ko talaga sila ng maigi, papayag na ata yun? Maybe in a chance of 3%? Idk. Second, the crowd. Will they like my music? Will they dance to the beat? O baka rereklamo lang sila? We know we have to deal with situations like that, nakakahiya. But what if your show goes on a total crap performance? As in lahat dislike? I’m gonna manage myself on putting back my pieces together. Third, money and promotions. Sa panahon ngayon, bihira na lang sumikat ka sa industriya ng musika kapag wala kang pera. In the first steps of your career, better ikaw muna pprovide ng budget mo. Unless, madami kang promotions. Getting a promotion is easy to do, but hard to acheive. You just send e-mails to record labels with your music attached, hit up people on Twitter and Facebook na may track kang bago. EZ. The hard part is that, sa dami dami ng nagsesend ng e-mails sa mga record labels, it’s just a lucky one kung mabasa nila yung e-mail mo tsaka replyan nila. Bihira lang yan. Pero if you get one, kahit negative feedback, you’re still lucky they heard your music. And if you’d love to contribute, you could help me by spreading my name to your friends. That is why there are times that I feel discouraged and hopeless. But still, I ain’t giving up. Try and try until you succeed. Maybe i’ll see myself playing in festivals in the future. Just keep moving forward.
with the wrong person.
What can you say about love? What do you feel when you’re inlove? Do you feel those butterflies fluttering in your stomach? Do you feel special when he tells you look beautiful in your sweatpants and a large shirt?Oh well, To go on dates on special days and look your best as if attending a fest. When he gives you things you don’t expect and you feel happy that he gives time and effort for you, wouldn’t that just be the best? Well... let me tell you something else, love hurts, why? Because, its with the wrong person. I hear hollow words, sugarcoated to be sweet to one's ear. Like your favorite flavored cake, something you cant resist, it tempts you, makes you crave. Like a piece of gum, sweet at first but once you start to chew and chew, the tasty sweet sensation on you taste buds slowly fades and turns bitter, bitter as the burnt popcorn you tried to make at home. When he tells you he loves you, only on the first few weeks of meeting, would you believe him? Would you say YES when he asks you to get undressed on the second date? Would you do anything and everything just to make him stay? Yes! Of course you would! Even if you knew all along he brought the word trouble with every step he took. Yes, yes, yes, of course you would because you love him. Why do nice people choose the wrong people to date? Its because we think we deserve their "hard to get-have to beg for it" kind of love. You love that person because you specifically want and need their attention, you love that person because you want that person to be with you for the rest of your life. But what you don't realize is that you're choosing the wrong person. Sometimes choosing the wrong person might be worthwhile because you know he/she isnt the one but you fall anyway, thinking they might turn out to be different than what others think of them. And when you fall, you dont mind getting hurt by them be ause you care more about their feelings than yours. You sacrifice yourself for them, your whole being. Color to the Monochromatic World
Have you ever imagined the world without melodies? The streets toneless and full of pure air? An object without a beat that is being produced naturally? Have you ever asked yourself, what would be the world like without music?
Music can be defined as vocal or instrumental sounds combined in such a way as to produce beauty of form, harmony, and expression of emotion. It has taken the world by storm. From small objects to big stages, music can be found. It comes in various forms, genres, shapes, and sizes.
Music is also a form of art. Those curvy tones and digital waveforms bring the mood in our everyday life. You can listen to whatever genre you want. I am the type of person who would like to listen all genres, even the weirdest ones like the one they call vaporwave. How about you? Do you also have the same thought?
Some would like to listen to classical music. Some, to bands like LANY and Lauv, and some would even like songs with hard 808s and massive expletives. It just goes to show that people are different. We need to deal with that.
After all of those appreciations, there’s still a question that disturbs my mind (and I bet yours too…)
WILL MUSIC EVER PERISH?
Imagine yourself walking in a city. The sound of cars honking, making absolute noise. There aren’t any CDs, Flash drives, or any VHS Tape Recorders playing songs in homes or buildings. Just pure noises. People engaging in conversations, speaking in monotone and without any singing or humming. The birds chirping without a tune. All you hear is natural sounds and are even out of beat. Do you imagine yourself living in a world like this?
What if presidents made a law stating that music was banned all over the world? How would you feel? Would you obey the law? Would you violate for the love of music?
Sorry for asking too many questions (haha) but.. I think music is really important. It’s a treasure. I bet most people couldn’t live without music. Fangirls need to have a daily dose of their favorite boybands. And this happens throughout the generations. From the beatlemaniacs to the directioners up to the A.R.M.Y., fans are going insane (like, LEGIT INSANE.) They would cry in tears if they meet their idols in personal.
Now, for my favorite part. Parties aren’t parties without music!!! Hahahahehe. Seeing people gathering at a large area, ranting and raving at the beat of the drums. Filling up the music with chants expressed by people, waiting for the buildup, making everybody excited. And then the drop goes.. everybody goes crazy!!! This is amazing I tell you! People celebrating and having a good time.
Music is important. It brings joy, satisfaction, and serenity in this chaotic world. People are connected and the bond is strengthened through music.
Now, we could say that no matter what happens, music will never perish. Even if the world changes and time flies, music will stay forever. Music brings color to this monochromatic world.
Forgive each other. Be merciful, accept each other's flaws and look on the positive side. You'll be happy together as promised.
..and so I asked to myself: Are you truly happy?
If you're feeling down, just think of the things that made this relationship work out. Be compassionate. Accept each other's burdens, and don't ever think of letting go.
