Lurking the PC tonight, and a lot of people are posting about losing precious pets and having them being morphed into Pirate Techos (?). Obligatory post about account safety:

- PIN errrrthang! 

- Change all of your passwords! And remember to try and make them challenging. I recommend using this site to help you make up a difficult password (don’t be that guy who’s PW was “red123″).

- Shove ALL of your Neopoints in the bank (PIN that bitch, too!). These hackers have been morphing people’s pets into Pirate Techos.  If you have no money on hand, and a PIN on your bank account, what can they really do? 

- ENABLE THE BIRTHDAY PROMPT, please.

 - Be sure to clear your cache and cookies!!!

- Block user-to-user transfers

- Any other tips?

Hey can yall keep in mind that there are still kids on neopets that read the neoboards? Like idk if I were younger im p sure i wouldnt like seeing some of the stuff yall post (like that one board thats topic was “im getting off” or smthn like that, srsly what the heck)

Yeah this is really important, when the filters were temporarily removed people flooded the boards with nsfw content for lulz and even now they try to purposely break/bypass the filter because they think it’s funny.

And like… I get to an adult or older teenager it can be funny to be sexual on a virtual petsite (which was.. weird to even type so maybe I don’t get it lmao), but PLEASE keep in mind that there are young kids using Neopets. And yes they don’t technically allow kids under 13 to use the neoboards but remember:

It IS possible to get parental consent to use the boards, I actually did when I was around 10.

MANY kids lie about their ages, there could be kids younger than 13 using the boards because they lied so they could access the full site

Even if everyone on the boards were 13+, it’s still inappropriate to subject kids as young as thirteen years old to sexual content because you think it’s funny to say “I’m getting off” or w/e on a kid-friendly forum…
