First of all: I am absolutely obsessed with your writing! <3 Don't think I've ever read angst written quite as well

Have you ever heard of the book series all for the game? I've been obsessed with it since 2020 and I'd (figuratively speaking) kill to read some angsty fics written for that fandom by you. The way you write Sirius black angst, Dean Winchester angst, Ilya rozanov angst.... it'd be perfect.

But if those books don't interest you or have too many TW, totally fair. No worries. Just thought I'd ask if you'd be interested in reading them and possibly writing fanfic about them eventually 😂

I have heard of AFTG and it's actually been on my TBR for years. I imagine I'd enjoy the story quite a bit given the info I've seen about it here, on TikTok, etc. At the moment, I'm rapidly trying to finish a stack of books I borrowed from the library before they're due back, but perhaps once I'm done all those I will give it a go. I can't promise to create anything soon, but I'm definitely intrigued and no one (not even myself) knows what I might write next haha :D

hello ! i love your writing, you are so talented :) "to make my sweetness" is one of my favorite fics ever. i was wondering if you would potentially ever write something dealing with eating disorders again? the way you portrayed lily with hers made me feel so seen, i just adore how youre able to write the complexities of it. i would literally read it no matter the characters, i just love the way you specifically write it. no pressure!! thanks :))

Hi! Let me first say thank you for such a lovely comment :))) I'm so glad that TMMS made you feel seen. I wrote that story as a way to work through my own experiences and seeing the response from so many people who read it saying how it's helped them is truly mind-blowing in the best way :) I do feel that writing TMMS gave me a lot of closure, but that's not to say that I won't explore the topic of EDs again in the future. It's definitely a theme I've considered returning to, but I'd need to find the right characters and scenarios in order to portray it honestly and sensitively. I appreciate you making the request - I'll keep it top of mind! Thanks again for your kind words <3

What's the fic you've written with the angstiest ending? Umm...all of them? Teehee :D I have an aversion to happy endings. But The Dark Garden of Myiasis probably has the ending that's most difficult to stomach

What's the fic you've written with the happiest ending? See previous answer haha :D But probably To Make My Sweetness. I just couldn't bear for Lily's story in that fic to not end in recovery. Enormous Waterfalls of the Sun is fairly upbeat at the end, too

Do you write crossovers? No <3 I can only handle writing for one fandom at a time

Have you ever received hate on a fic? Someone left some nasty comments on Enormous Waterfalls of the Sun, which I promptly ignored. I'm not going to engage with you if you're being rude. If you don't like my fics, just don't read them please :)

Do you write smut? No, I really only write angst

Have you ever had a fic stolen? Not as far as I know haha Have you ever had a fic translated? Someone once asked to translate one of my oneshots into French, but I don't think they ever actually did. I welcome all translations though, as long as you ask me first :)

Have you ever co-written a fic before? I've not! I'm more of a solitary writer

What's a wip that you want to finish but don't think you ever will? I don't have any unfinished wips (they rest of the They Shall Have Stars chapters are already written), but I have had an idea for a Black sisters focused fic in my mind for a while that I haven't really fleshed out enough to become a whole story. Maybe one day I'll get to that :) What are your writing strengths? Writing realistic characters, angst, and emotions, and creating imagery and symbolism

What are your writing weaknesses? Writing a fic with more than three or four main characters. I've always struggled with giving more than four people unique character motivations and keeping track of them all

What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic? The only other language I occasionally include in fics is French because I speak it

What's a fandom/ship you haven't written for yet but want to? Supernatural was the fandom that originally got me into fanfic, but I've never written anything for it, even though I've had some ideas

What's your favorite fic you've written? The Dark Garden of Myiasis :) It was my first longfic and has such a special place in my heart. Plus sibling angst is just my absolute favorite and writing that fic really carved a little indent into my soul :)

Sounds good! Here's my advice: Imagery: I always start by picturing the setting in my mind, and then trying to relate it to my five senses. If the character is sitting in a chair, what does the fabric feel like on their skin or against their clothes? Is the light in the room bright or dim? What can they hear? Smell? Taste?

I also try to avoid cliche descriptions or descriptions that aren't specific enough. "Character A lies in bed at night while it storms outside" is boring and vague. But this can easily change to: "A loud clap of thunder rattles the windows of Character A's bedroom, making them whimper from beneath their suffocating cocoon of scratchy blankets. Moonlight spills onto their bedroom carpet, occasionally interrupted by brilliant, blinding strikes of lightning." It's still storming, but more poetically now :) Emotion: I always try to imagine the emotion within myself and think about how it feels physically. Does it make my stomach clench? Does it make me lightheaded? Are my hands flexing? Trembling? I usually like to pair these physical descriptions with metaphors and imagery. You can assign an animal to an emotion - perhaps anger is a snake sinking its venomous fangs into the character's ribs and then slithering higher to constrict around their neck. You can also choose a metaphor theme, like a temperature, and run with that. Maybe panic is coldness, and when the character panics, their blood turns to ice and their organs crystalize. Then later, when they're calmer again, perhaps their body thaws and the frantic, frozen water that's been swirling within them finally evaporates. Having a playlist to help trigger these feelings/emotions can also be super helpful to get you into the right mindset for writing about them.

Dialogue: The most helpful thing I've ever learned about writing dialogue was in a screenwriting class, where I was told, "People don't say what they mean." Especially when it comes to hard truths or heavy topics, we talk in circles. We say a whole lot of nothing. If you want dialogue to feel realistic, it has to reflect that. For example, let's say Character A is really worried about Character B. Character A could say "I'm worried about you," or ask "Are you okay?" but it's more likely that they'd say something like, "How are things?" or "How's it going?" because it hides their true level of concern. Character B is much more likely to lie and respond with "Fine," as we'd probably say in real life rather than say something like, "Terrible! I keep having nightmares every night and I'm worried about failing all my exams because I can't focus on anything other than reliving the horrors of my summer holiday." Character B's behavior should tell us something is wrong - their words shouldn't have to.

Truths don't come out naturally in dialogue - they come out during times of heightened emotions, which your dialogue can build up to. But overall, your descriptions, imagery, and inner monologues for the characters should be doing much more work than the dialogue. I hope this was helpful! Everybody has different writing styles and advice, and this is just what works for me. Feel free to ask about any other writing advice you'd like :)
