                                            Starbrary Crystals

Starbrary crystals have a variety of unusual glyphs including markings that resemble falling stars or meteor showers.  There are many opinions regarding the origin and purpose of these crystals; making a personal connection with crystals may be the best way to form your own. What is a Warrior Crystal?

Living in the earth is tough! Crystals face many challenges to perfect formation, including: fault line shifts, earthquakes, extreme temperatures, growth interference, movement in the pocket, and mining accidents. Related injuries are common and do not impact the crystal’s energy which is derived from the internal molecular structure of the crystal. These injured crystals are just like each one of us, imperfect warriors that are learning to thrive in a difficult environment. They have fought their battles and survived; radiating strength and empathy for dealing with difficult transitions, challenges and injury.

Mining injuries look like broken glass, with conchoidal fracturing and sharp edges.  Because these injuries occur during harvesting, the crystal does not have the opportunity to self-heal. Mining injuries affect the crystals appearance, but not their energy.  They are still great tools for healing and meditation.

Self-healing occurs when a crystal is damaged by naturally occurring processes in the crystal pocket. The injured crystal continues to grow, in the crystal pocket, in water that is rich in dissolved minerals,  creating new crystalline structures that heal the damage. Self-healed crystals are recognized by damage that appears ‘smoothed over’, layers of smaller terminated faces or scales that cover the injured area or a severed crystal that is ’glued’ back together with new growth. Self-Healed Quartz Crystals are especially useful for spiritual, emotional and physical healing.

All crystals are programed to help humans, each one needs a home - especially the Warriors.  Warriors are often overlooked by people who are interested in outwardly perfect specimens or aesthetics, so they are more affordable. Working with any Warrior can teach us the art of compassionate healing for mind, body and spirit and help accelerate healing and regeneration in ourselves and others. They help us to develop compassion for ourselves and others, and teach us that true beauty comes from within.

Heat Treated vs Natural Citrine

Most citrine is heat treated. Few consumers realize how common gemstone treatments are, but the truth is that gemstones have been treated for centuries.  Natural citrine is uncommon and much more expensive than heat treated citrine. which is created by heat treating natural amethyst which changes the color from violet to an attractive bright goldenrod color. This heat treated citrine it is more common and affordable than natural citrine. Both are beautiful energetic stones with an orange or yellow light vibrational frequency. Many crystal dealers sell both natural and treated citrine, rarely are they labeled differently. The best thing to do is learn to learn the difference so you can make an informed choice. Natural citrine is usually a light golden color (think Chardonnay) to a smoky golden brown; raw crystals are typically long and narrow with straight sides and it is not cheap to buy. Heat treated citrine is a bright goldenrod color with clear and white sections; raw crystals are tooth-like in shape with a white base; they are cheap and relatively easy to find. The polished citrine points for sale in this listing are heat treated. A natural polished citrine point, this size would cost $65 to $125 depending on quality, color and clarity. 

Natural Citrine is quartz crystal that gets its color from trace impurities in the crystal lattice. It varies in color from a barely discernible light golden or yellow to bright yellow to yellow-green to dark smoky golden. The cause of natural citrine’s coloration is still debated. Most classic references suggest that the color is caused by trace impurities of iron ions in the crystal lattice. However, traces of aluminum and lithium, which cause the color in smoky quartz, are also found in Citrine. More recent studies have suggested that the ratio of aluminum and lithium impurities in the crystal lattice may cause the variations in color.  Regardless of the source of color, natural citrine is quite rare and expensive.  Heat treated citrine is much more common and affordable. It is made by heat treating amethyst which changes the natural violet to colors ranging from bright goldenrod to burnt orange. It is safe to assume that citrine with a bright goldenrod or burnt orange color is heat-treated.

Citrine is considered to be an effective detoxifier that neutralizes negative energies; and a clarifying stone that enhances confidence, personal power, self awareness and self expression. Citrine transmits the energy of the sun and can be used to open, activate and balance the solar plexus chakra.

How Do Crystals Grow?

Crystals grow in hydrothermal mineral solutions in underground cracks, crevices and ‘pockets’.  Where does this solution come from? Pressure deep within the earth creates intensive heat which ‘melts’ rocks, minerals, and other elements into a molten liquid called magma. When the pressure builds and blows the top of a mountain (a volcano), the expelled magma cools into volcanic rock.  Much of this ‘volcanic activity’ takes place underground where the pressure pushes magma into cracks, crevices and pockets. As the magma begins to cool, heavier minerals, like gold and lead move to the bottom leaving a lighter mineral solution that may contain a larger ratio of gas and lighter elements.  If the solution has a large amount of silicon and oxygen, these elements will begin to bond into molecules that contain two atoms of oxygen and one atom of silicon creating silicon dioxide.  These silicon dioxide molecules are able to bond together to form crystals.  Like puzzle pieces, the molecules fit together in only one specific way. Over time, the atoms and molecules will continue to bond in highly ordered specific patterns that create crystals.

                                 My Personal Crystal Philosophy

There are many differing viewpoints about crystal energy, crystal healing and the metaphysical properties of quartz. The crystal ‘experience’ occurs when a crystal’s energy combines with human energy. Like crystals, each individual has a different energy – so the different people may have different experiences with the same crystal.  Crystals are NOT magic! Unraveling crystal mysteries, programming crystals and directing crystal energy are skills that are learned through frequent and regular interaction with your crystals.  This can include wearing or carrying your crystal, meditating with your crystal, putting your crystal in an area you frequent, setting up a crystal grid, and more. The information provided on the different types and uses of crystal is is based on research from a variety of sources. (1) Much of it is widely accepted by the crystal community, however, as with most human concepts, there are differences of opinion. Doing your own research and making a personal connection with crystals are the best methods for finding what resonates with you.

In 10,000 years...will the inhabitants of our planet believe that humans stored entire libraries on a tiny silicon (quartz) computer chip...if they believe it, will they be able to determine which quartz chips contain information? Will they be able to access and decode the information? Who knows? But, it is certainly interesting to ponder.  

Are certain crystal structures better for specific uses? My opinion is yes, however that does not mean that a Channeling crystal cannot be used for transmitting or grounding.  Just like artists who have a variety of brushes and tools they use for specific purposes. Each artist has their own individual methods for using these tools and if their preferred tool is not available, often they can substitute another to obtain the same effect.  Can I program a crystal with my thoughts? Marcel Vogel, a retired IBM scientist thought so, and I agree. (Marcel Vogel will be discussed in a future post.) Again, I encourage you to develop your own methods based on your individual experiences working with crystal  energy. 

My research and work with crystals is ongoing, so it is possible that my philosophy will evolve over time.  There is so much left to explore!

                                          Vogel Crystals

‘Vogel Cut’ crystals are cut based on specifications developed by Marcel Vogel, an IBM research scientist. Vogel understood that crystals are powerful information storage, transmission and amplification systems which can be programmed by the human mind.
