Les Misérables illustrations by Antoni Uniechowski, 1954 and 1958 - part 1
These are illustrations from the Polish abridged editions published by Iskry. For some reason, the near-identical 1954 and 1958 editions seem to contain the same illustrations redrawn differently, 1958 having the simplified versions. Enjoy!
[part 2 here]
AHHH I HAVE THIS EDITION
Bought it in katowice at some random book stand lmao
Forever grateful it was there
The first poster for Fred Cavayé’s film adaptation of Les Misérables has officially been released! Set to release October 14th in French Theatres. Starring Vincent Lindon, Tahar Rahim, Camille Cottin, Benjamin Lavernhe, Vassili Schneider, and Noémie Merlant.

(please ignore the awful quality for some of these - the day I went out to take them was so hot I’m genuinely convinced it somehow messed my camera up)
You know the drill @lesmisshippingshowdown
Okay I keep seeing all of those people (myslef included) making tiny javerts and valjeans, how about we all make it our goal to take them places and make them a tiny travel journal bc I think it might be cute
Hell, let's make it a thing for all tiny les mis characters
"Ladder" - a Toulon era Valvert song. Out on Tumblr and will be on all streaming platforms next Friday (pre-save here)!

THE SOUND OF YAOI IS HERE
What do you mean, [character] is dead? They're right there in my fanfic.
So in post Seine stories sometimes I like to think of how many years Javert and Valjean end up having together. It is morbid but sweet in a way to think of how many years of peace Valjean gets to have at the end of it all. 19 years is the best answer in my opinion, not only because of its importance to valjean, he lost 19 years to the law and in post Seine valvert fics javert usually plays a role in knocking valjean out of his melancholy there by giving him back the time the state took away. But also because, since Valjean originally died at 64, 19 years makes him 83, the actual age Victor Hugo was when he died. Idk but it’s weirdly fitting to me.
a while ago i did an edit with javert and sexy back for a presentation night and it never saw a wider audience lol
The 1978 Version of javerts death is so iconic for all the wrong reasons. Any gravity or emotional impact just gets ruined by that random ass trumpet flourish, the fact that it's like the lowest point you could jump in the seine from, and of course, the flip
was once New Amsterdam.
