Seeking ppcu fics for an “elaborate AU” themed rec list!
Ever since I was 12 and lurking on fanfiction.net, I have loved one thing above all others: an alternate universe. My (30th) birthday is coming up in a week, and I'd like to celebrate by compiling a masterlist of awesome AU fics from all over the ppcu community.
I need your help to find fics and reach different writers! Please comment on this post to recommend your favorite AU fics. Coffee shop, rock stars, office romance, soulmates, A/B/O, vampires, fantasy, spaceship, outlaws, strippers, royalty, dystopia, hospital, demons, pirates, detectives, regency, porn stars, give me alll of it and more! The more elaborate, the better. I want the kind of fic that can make me believe Joel Miller was meant to be a deckhand, the fics that will have me crying over slutty ghost Javier Peña.

My PPCU AU Fic Recommendations (for @rosharanfiction )
One For The Money, Two For The Show by @cowgurrrl (Joel Miller x Actress!Reader) - A Rockstar!Joel AU. I mean, I have a thing for singers and there's a fake dating situation that ends up realer than planned. Great concept. An "oldie" but a goodie.
Nine Lives by @mothandpidgeon (Ezra x Witch!Reader) - Ezra is a familiar to reader, a cursed witch serving time as a cat. Think Salem in Sabrina the Teenage Witch except he can't talk until he becomes human again. I too would become more than friends upon seeing him in human form. Ezra has major feelings for reader even before. And their eventual romance is forbidden. Juicy.
In Another Life by @punkshort (Marcus Acacius x F!Reader) - Marcus finds himself in the future, modern day. This fish out of water romantic comedy fic was so fun and Marcus is a dream in this!
What Was I Made For? by @604to647 (Tim Rockford x F!Reader) - An AU in which Tim is Frankenstein's monster and is trying to figure out his purpose. A very sweet, beautiful story. I love the final lines of this fic especially.
The Guard Dog by @avastrasposts (Pero x F!Reader) - Pero is a groundskeeper in the Victorian era for reader's uncle's castle. Their romance is forbidden. Everything about this fic is so good.
Palomino by @fuckyeahdindjarin (Jack Daniels x F!Reader) - In a different world Jack is a ranch manger who does trail rides. Reader ends up taking one of these trail rides with him for a week. I love the romance and the pretty horses and full on cowboy Jack.
Mine:
The Fallen Warrior (Joel Miller x F!Reader) - In this AU Joel is a fallen archangel and he has to save Ellie from Heaven's angels cause she's special and they want to murder/sacrifice her. Reader happens to get caught up in the mess being Joel's friend and coworker (he's her boss technically). I consider the prologue some of my best work. This fic is on break, but I should get back to it before summer.
Outlaws Til Sundown (Javi Gutierrez x F!Reader) - Reader And Javi are part of an outlaw gang. When a train robbery goes south, they make a break together for freedom.

Fighting Blind by @yespolkadotkitty (Pero x F!Reader) - Reader time travels to the past and partakes in the events of the movie and in the process falls for Pero. I simply can't get their first love scene out of my head. The ending made me cry, so get your tissues out, but I loved it lots through it all.
Short Days, Long Nights by @frannyzooey (Joel Miller x F!Reader) - Joel and reader are traveling together across the country and stumble upon a cabin and reader convinces him to stay for a while. Living there changes their lives in big ways. They fall in love for one. I won't spoil the rest. Always a recommend.
A Girl Walks Into A Bookshop by @oonajaeadira (Ezra x F!Reader) - Ezra owns a bookshop and reader finds her way into his life there. Magical sweet story. I love how Ezra's written in this. The love scene is a literal bonus chapter which made me melt.
Stranger At My Gate by @leslie-lyman (Pero x OFC) - Pero time travels to the future by accident (yes, I love time travel, how'd you know?) and has to learn how to live in the modern day. Main character is kinda witchy (literally). She's trying to help him get back to his time, but she falls for him instead. Oh, and it's Christmas time. This is a Hallmark Christmas movie if it had smut. My perfect version. Hallmark is missing the spice. ha Another always recommend.
Mine:
What If? (Joel Miller x F!Reader) - A choose your adventure style fic where reader finds her way to Jackson before the events of season 2 and can change Joel's fate just by being there, loving him, and making the choice. I've just got the epilogue to go and it's been kinda crazy with all the different routes I had to write. It's the biggest project I've ever done and just for that reason I'm pretty proud of it.
Boo! (Dieter x F!Reader) - Dieter is a ghost, and reader is a writer who buys the mansion he's haunting. If she wants to get rid of him, she's gonna need to help him remember what happened to him. But along the way, of course, she falls for him.
