Ian/Amanda - Realization - Amandian / Ianmanda

“why are you acting like this all of a sudden”
Amanda, like everyone else in the world, notices the shift in Ian from when Anthony was gone to when he returns. He’s lighter, happier, he smiles more. She loves to see the change in him, and is overjoyed that he seems far better off in Anthony’s presence. But there is something in her that squirms at the change. Not so much that Ian changed, but that it was Anthony that prompted that change in him.
It’s weird. She knows it is. It isn’t like she and Ian are best friends, but they are close and she’s spent a good amount of time filming sketches, episodes of Let’s Do This, games, etc. with him. She knows him, and she likes to know him. He’s interesting if not a little strange, but she likes that, Amanda considers herself much the same.
So, why is it that she’s feeling this odd pull of…jealousy? Now that Anthony is back and Ian is shining brighter than ever? Maybe it’s that it all happens so quickly. Let’s Do This ends, and then Anthony is back, and it seems like all the videos Ian’s in are with Anthony and if it does include other cast members it’s the people Anthony knows already like Shayne and Courney or the newest like Chanse and Angela.
Very quickly, Amanda realizes she misses filming with Ian. She misses hearing his stupid jokes on the set in between set ups and takes. She misses his weird little factoids of information that have her giggling and sometimes stunned by how out of the box they are. Amanda misses his smile and laugh, and she realizes this all in a flurry of emotion as she watches one of the videos that Ian has filmed with Anthony.
It’s a problem and Amanda is not here to ruin anyone’s high or fun. She can’t let her odd feelings about her boss cloud what is a huge and happy moment for Ian, and Anthony, and Smosh. So, she pushes down the feelings, and she carries on, and she is perfectly polite and professional on set and in the office.
It only gets worse when she hears Courtney and Shayne joking around with Chanse and Arasha.
“I swear!” Courtney says through giggles.
Chanse slaps his hands down on the table in front of them.
“You’re joking.”
“No!” Courtney says.
“They slept over at the new Smosh house all weekend?” Chanse asks, flabbergasted.
“Yeah, a writer’s retreat.”
“Is that what they’re calling it these days,” Chanse mumbles.
“Didn’t people ship them?” Arasha asks.
“Oh, they still do,” Shayne added.
“Of course they do! These bitches are in love,” Chanse says.
The group of the four of them break into giggling laughter and Amanda’s stomach hurts. It’s silly and stupid. They’re best friends, and even…even if they were more than that, what does it matter? It isn’t like Amanda had some claim over Ian.
She finds herself watching them from afar. Ian does smile more when he’s with Anthony. He laughs in a way she hasn’t heard him laugh before. Anthony goes around calling Ian the sun. He cries when Ian tells him he loves him.
Amanda feels like she’s losing her mind.
It comes to her like a perfectly realized piece of information late into the night. When she’s in her bed, and it’s dark, and quiet, and her eyes are barely open as she fights off sleep.
Somewhere between joining Smosh and Anthony’s return, Amanda fell for Ian.
She thinks maybe it was a quiet thing that happened in small pieces and not all at once, like putting together a puzzle, and now she sees the full picture, when it might be too late, when the missing piece has slotted into the frame, and it doesn’t belong to her.
She’s eating lunch alone in the green room one day when the door opens. Amanda is expecting Angela, or Courtney. When she looks up. She sees Ian.
